For what felt like the millionth time that night, Remy didn't know how to reply. What do you say to that? Sorry? That's kind of a pathetic way to respond to something so awful.

So instead of using words, Remy just wrapped his arms around this boy he met that afternoon. He pulled him in, putting his hand on the back of his neck, and Landon squeezed him back tightly, hands around him.

They stayed like that for a few minutes, until Allen walked in the room. "Oh, um, hey."

Both boys pulled away quickly, feeling like they got caught doing something a lot more intimate than hugging.

"H-Hi," Remy stuttered. "This is... Landon."

Allen just stood there awkwardly before saying, "Uh, I'll give you guys... a minute." Then he walked out, presumably just standing outside the door, waiting for Landon to leave.

Landon stood up and began to walk out. Before opening the door, he turned to Remy. "Hey. Thanks for listening. I'll see you tomorrow." Remy nodded in reply as he walked out, pushing past Allen, who was pretending like he wasn't listening.

As Allen walked back in, he said, "Uh, okay. So... listen. Remy. It's fine that you have a boyfriend. I'm cool with that. My older brother's gay, too. But, I do have a problem with you guys making out on my bed. So, if you could just... not do that."

Remy's eyes widened, and he got off Allen's bed. "Oh, sorry about that. But, actually, Landon and I are just friends. And he was just... on your bed. And then I was. I don't know. He has a girlfriend, though. Uh... sorry."

What the hell was that clusterfuck? Remy thinks, completely confounded by his inability to speak like a normal human being. Instead of saying anything to try to improve that mess and risk making it worse, Remy turns away on his heels towards his side of the room to get ready for bed.

He realizes that it's already 10 PM, and despite his weird little nap after his classes, he's dead tired. He worries that he'll be kept up tonight thinking about everything Landon told him, but when his head hits his pillow, he's out for the rest of the night, plagued by weird dreams that vaguely resemble the horrors of everything that's happened to Renee and Landon.
