Adventurer

Upon waking to the rays of light, Eli blinked twice to confirm it was morning. The sun shone through the curtains, as bright as day. It was radiating warmth, delivering a weird sensation in his body.

"This... feels nice"

"Saying open game screen or dagger is sort of awkward, maybe I should figure out another way to summon it "

Through trial and error along with embarrassing lines, Eli had finally figured out the solution which was that he could link his mind to the game screen.

(Dagger, appear) /(This means he's talking in his mind)

Eli had noticed that the dagger had a sharp blade, sharp enough to prick his own fingers just by brushing against it. The handle was a plain wood but was still durable.

"I would prefer a sword though, but I guess I can't be picky, maybe I should just go to the guildhall"

Eli had left towards the guildhall in a black hoodie with track pants. The guildhall wasn't as crowed as the other day, to be exact it was completely empty. There was no other adventurer in sight, only the staff. It was as silent as night, where even the sound of mice could be heard. The staff had a worried expression on their face, almost as if someone or something was threatening their lives.

"Is everything ok?

"Actually, there's been goblins appearing in the forest more so than ever and the adventures are trying to fight them but... not many of them had returned and when they do, their on the verge of death"

Alarm!

[Quests: Defeat the goblins in the forest]

Rewards: 50 status points, title: Goblin Slayer

Penalty: Death

(Why in the world are there goblins? Never mind that, I guess its time to level up?...now, is it just me or do I feel like the penalty for these quests are always going to be death?)

"Traveler?"

"Ah yes, so how do I join the guild?"

"You can register here, but you would have to start from E rank"

"That's fine"

After registering as an adventure in the Gilegmaesh guild, Eli was now E rank.

"What quests can I take to level up my rank?"

"You can check that corkboard for E or D related quests"

"Thank you"

The corkboard had few quests for E and D ranks, only a few about collecting medicinal herbs or lost cats. Eli grabbed hold of all the herb related quests and went in search for them. The herbs could be seen in the far east of the forest, far from where the goblins were hiding. Slowly but efficiently, the herbs were found and brought back to the guildhall.

"The reward is 1 gold piece"

"1 gold piece?"

" 2 coppers to make 1 silver and 4 silvers to make 1 gold "

"I get it now but, isn't a gold piece too much for just herbs?"

"It is but, with more injured adventurers coming in, more of them is needed"

"Oh, I see"

"Eli was it? It seems with this amount of quests completed you can rank up to D"

"Great!"

With the finishing paperwork done for Eli becoming an D rank, he left from the guildhall. Immediately as he stepped foot outside, Eve and Aiden had rushed towards him.

"So this is where you were along? We were looking everywhere for you!"

"Sorry"

Together, they headed back to the inn when suddenly shouts could be heard from afar.

"It's the goblins! Their planning on taking over the town!"

"Wait what?!"

"All adventurers to the guildhall now! C rank and above!"

Abruptly, crowds of people were forming in front of the guildhall pushing the the three out of the way. Wherever Eli looked, fear from the townsfolk could be seen as clear as day. They were afraid, but who wouldn't be when they could die at any second. Nobody wanted to die yet they couldn't abandon the town. The town where the grew up, the town where all their memories were made. It was their home and they had no choice but to protect it.

"I'll... I'll fight too!"

"Eli?"

"Kid, if your not C rank or above then you might just die the moment you set foot on the battleground"

"That's fine by me"

"Alright, if you say so"

Eli joined the crowd heading inside the guildhall, where they would discussed the plan for the outbreak of goblins. The ground began to shake, vibrating throughout the room, tables rattling, chairs falling over when someone yelled,

"The orcs and goblins are coming!"

At first, no one could move, fear overcame them with the sudden attack. Their brains couldn't function with their body trembling. The air started to become stuffy, to the point where even breathing became difficult.

The guild master was the first to say something, "Everyone, I know your afraid but we have to, no... we will protect our home and our family!"

From there, everyone held onto their weapon and marched out with a goal to achieve.
