It was five days later that the wound on Ouyang Xueqing's face recovered completely.
Her complexion were restored as it was always been, smooth and soft with reddish cheeks, not even a single scar or blemish could be seen.
She was seated in her room in the Royal Palace because her Imperial Father requested that her treatment was to be done there. The royal physician was pulling her bandage off carefully while the three worried parents were standing in jittery.
Thankfully, Xia Wei had regained consciousness on the second day, and henceforth her wound had been recovering rapidly. Today, she was back in full health with only scabs and scratches remained.
Xia Wei's eyes were staring worriedly at her daughter's face. When the smooth and silky skin were revealed, her eyes were shining in joy and happiness while she squeezed her husband's hand. Fortunately, there were no scars.
She couldn't bear it if there were scars on her daughter's face.
The Royal Physician guided: "How is it, Princess? Please open your eyes and tell us what you feel."
Ouyang Xueqing could feel everyone's breath stilled, and she was nervous too. Her heart was heavy when she carefully lifted her eyelids and open them wide for them to see.
Gasp!
Her mother's horrified expression caught her off guard and she was stunned.
Xia Wei covered her mouth as tears welled up her eyes. "Y—Your eyes…"
The other three men's expression weren't any better either.
Wang Ze and the royal physician froze in shock while Ouyang Chunxia's complexion paled.
Ouyang Xueqing's lips trembled slightly when she spoke. "M—Mother, Father, Imperial Father, what's wrong with Qing'er's eyes?"
No one answered.
The first to snapped back to his senses was the royal physician. Having treated more people than the rice that The Princess had eaten made his mental grew strong. He was calm when he inquired. "Princess, how is your sight?"
"My sight…" Ouyang Xueqing sighed as she caressed her right eye. "I can't see."
She blinked her eyes to adjust her newly eyesight. Her right eye was now blind and she wasn't used to it. It felt weird like her sight was blocked by something.
Hearing that, Xia Wei was dizzy and she nearly fainted.
Ouyang Xueqing grew panicked. "What—What's wrong with Qing'er?"
The royal physician turned to the Emperor whose look was so murderous as though he was ready to kill someone. Well, he did had the plan. Everyone that guarded the underground prison had been sentenced to execution without fail.
But after looking at her daughter's condition, he changed his mind, though.
He would not kill them directly. He would ordered for them to be tortured until his heart was appeased.
"My Lord, this subordinate suspects that this was the side effects of the poison. The lethality and duration of the effectiveness is still not known. Please hold your anger, My Lord. We still have the chance to heal the Princess. This subordinate just asks for time to hold some tests."
"Presumptuous!" He bellowed.
The royal physician kneeled and trembled. "Please forgive this one's inability!"
Performing tests on his daughter as if she's guinea pig? How dare he!
Wang Ze's belly was so full of anger that he was tempted to throw the royal physician together with the rows of prisoners to be tortured if not for his ability to research for cure.
"Go! Find the cure as soon as possible! This Lord doesn't care what method you use as long as it doesn't put the princess in danger and pain!"
"Yes, My Lord!"
When the situation calmed slightly, the only sound heard was Xia Wei's sobbing.
Ouyang Xueqing gulped. Looking at her mother's teary face, she too felt so much pain that she couldn't breathe. Her tears dropped silently.
"Qing'er!" Three people panicked. Xia Wei's tears dried instantly as she hugged and comforted her daughter. "Qing'er, it's okay. Don't cry, mother is here."
"Mother…" Ouyang Xueqing raised her head. Her eyes met her mother's reddened ones. Xia Wei's heart squeezed painfully when she looked into her daughter's pair of eyes. "What's wrong with Qing'er?"
Xia Wei sighed. She didn't know how to break the news to her daughter.
She too hadn't seen anything like this.
It was bizarre and mystical, yet because this was her daughter, her beloved pearl, she couldn't bring herself to say anything.
Finally, it was Wang Ze that grabbed a hand mirror and handed it carefully to her. His expression remained somber even since he heard the news. He could almost imagine how people would say when they look at his daughter's eyes.
Ouyang Xueqing received the mirror. She inhaled deeply before encouraging herself.
Then, what she saw on the mirror nearly made her broke down.
It was a terrifying sight. Her originally black and round eye had turned onto a blue one.
And in those blue orb, her pupil were golden slit just like those of serpents.
