CHAPTER 30

"TRANSFER THE MONEY....." Jeannine finally gave up after she saw I wasn't letting this matter to so easily. Am sure she had understood I wasn't going to let it go and would bite all of my nails if I had to.

"Your account number ma'am...." The assistant took out a phone I immediately recognised to be Jeannine's.

"So you finally come to your senses and realise you're worth it, huh?" I pulled one last stunt before walking into the saloon and bending over the injured girl. Tears had dried onto her face and the was still holding onto the ice pack.

She lowered her eyes the moment I looked at her face and I could see the was in pain. I slowly took the ice pack off and saw a few marks left by Jeannine's fingers.

I wasn't going to forgive her for this.

"My dear, what's your account number.??" I asked and she immediately raised her eyes meeting mine. A tear dropped off and before I could even wipe it, she curled her arms around me and cried.

I patted her on the back tried not to cry myself.

"I understand...." I whispered and got her to let go of me. I wiped her tears and convinced her to give me her account number.

She seemed scared of Jeannine and I wondered why.

On one hand was an assistant who was willing to lay down his life for her and on the other hand was a girl who would even dare look at her.

Who was she exactly.?

"Here.... transfer the money ASAP...." I demanded and after the transaction notification got to the phone in my hands, I gave it back to the young girl.

I handed my phone to Jeannine's assistant and asked him to delete the photos.

"Oh my Goodness....you actually recorded an entire video...." He gasped.

"It's go big or go home, baby..." I clicked my tongue at him running my hand around his shoulder. I noticed the make up artists laughing up their sleeves.

They must've been scared to laugh in front of Jeannine.

Was she some goddess?

"It's done ma'am...." He reported to her and handed my phone back to me.

"Great...now will you change my make up?" She asked taking a seat.

"Uh...miss Jeannine, am sorry but your time's up....even so, miss Eleanor booked in advance and she still gets to go before you...sorry...." The make up artist reported to her and Jeannine shot me yet another dirty look.

Full of shame, she got off the chair and stood aside.

"Ma'am...please take a seat...." She asked me but I shook my head.

I walked to the young girl and asked her to come and take a seat instead. Everyone looked at me like I had bought a gun in a candy shop.

"Thank you very much miss Eleanor...." She said. Her eyes were red from crying. I deeply felt sorry for her.

"No worries. What's your name?"

"Luna....Luna Washington....." She replied calmly. I smiled and patted her hair getting her to smile back at me.

"So listen up....I want you to do on Luna, the exact look that she wanted...." I pointed at Jeannine and out of shock as an impulse, she loosened her previously tightened arms.

The same was the reaction from everyone else in the salon.

"Come again???" The hair stylist asked.

"The dark look that she wanted....dark brown make up.... burgundy-ish.....she mentioned something like that....I know you do remember....do it on her....." I explained.

The room was filled with an odd silence and I could literally hear them all swallow their saliva.

"Okay ma'am...." They responded and immediately got to work.

I watched closely as she selected a particular make up bag with the products she wanted to use.

"No...don't use that...use the one you would have used on me...." I corrected and yet again the entire place was filled with silence.

"The MAC Cosmetics brand new make up palate???" One of them asked and the other dropped the palate she was carrying in shock.

"B-but... it's not on the market yet....isn't that why you are using it??? You're... mod-deling it...?" She confirmed and I nodded.

"That's right....didn't Ciara talk to you about it??"

"Oh no...miss Quinn called yesterday the moment she was booking this appointment for you...." Someone replied from behind me. I turned around to witness an entire congregation.

It must've been all the people that work in the salon. For how long had they been standing behind us?

"Oh my goodness...she's Friends with Ciara Quinn...."

"And they seem to be close for her to book an appointment for her...."

"Wooowww....I wish I had such connections...."

They whispered among themselves and I smiled turning back to the artists.

"And on me, I want you to do the exact look that's on Jeannine's face, but I want it four times prettier...." I said it with a sly smile as I looked at Jeannine.

I was so sure she would explode this time around. She got up from her seat and walked towards me.

"You have become an enemy of Jeannine Lana....and mark my words when I say I never forget my enemies...." She spoke and inherently also spat on me. Gosh, it was so gross. When I thought she would do something else, she suddenly stormed out of the room with her stilettos smacking against the floor. Her assistant looked at me once and followed after Jeannine.

I could feel the atmosphere loosen up and they all took deep breaths.

I sat on the chair next to Lana and another team started working on my make up.

"Thank you so much Ms Eleanor, you are so amazing...." One of then said in a low voice.

"I can't agree more. It felt good to finally see someone put Jeannine in her place...she deserved it all..." Another one agreed.

I opened my eyes and looked at them.

"What are your names?"

"Am Liliana and this is my sister Mariana...." The artist working on me introduced them.

"Nice....why do you guys put up with such nonsense??" I asked sitting up and waiting to get some answers. Maybe this would clear up some misconceptions I had.

One encounter with Jeannine and I had so many questions about her. Who was she exactly. She wasn't so famous to get so much power and that only meant there was someone big supporting her.

"Well...." The sisters shared a look and Mariana started the talk.

"Jeannine made her debut five years ago in a movie, 'Branded' and unfortunately it was declared a box office fail. Since then, she went silent until two years ago when she acted alongside Jana Tetrazzini as her supporting actress in the television film,

'Brunette for life'...."

"...and....she was spotted to get so close with rapper Joel Joelle. They declared to be an item on valentine's last year at Disneyland. But a month later she filled court papers for a restraining order against him claiming that had harassed her. The petition was temporarily granted, and later dropped by her...." Liliana added in after her sister had left off.

"Oh wow...." I did not know all these. How did I not?

"Last year, she faced criticism after tweeting an image of fans doxing an alleged minor over the use of a racial slur on an Instagram post...." Lilian opened the next file and I got interested. These girls knew so much than I thought. I should totally invite them over at my place for another gossip series. They'd obviously update me on a lot of things. Turns out am very busy to even notice the slightest things around me.

"So how did she rise to fame in a blink?" I asked. I couldn't understand how all the negativity she had been entangled in would mean nothing when she was auditioning for roles.

I had to be perfect in everything I did so that I fattened my CV and ease the path for me.

"Am not sure....but I heard she traded it with a bed...." Marianna whispered and my eyes popped out almost falling out.
