CHAPTER 60

"Uh...AM NOT SURE..." Lana replied. As per her words, she was seemingly unsure of it.

"How can she afford such a car?? Isn't a Honda accord the most expensive car on the planet" Ciara asked.

"One of them...yes..." I wrinkled my forehead deep in thought.

"Jeannine is one of the most paid actresses here at our company with a pay of about $200,000 per movie. Lately, she hasn't had any projects she's working on except for the adapted movie, Chasing Red which isn't on the market yet...." Lana explained.

"$200,000??? that's not even close to quarter the cost of that car...." Ciara spiked.

"Exactly...and wasn't it not a while ago that I swept her of $200,000?? Then if that was all her money, why did she confidently give it...?" I asked.

"There was a man in the car with her but nobody saw his face. The glasses were tinted except from the windscreen but it was difficult to make out from it who he was with respect to how he parked the car...." Lana added more wood to the fire and I could almost already feel the heat.

We were onto something big.

"She was wearing a Louis Vuitton champagne simple peplum dress which was recently released for the summer season. She also coiled a peach scarf around her neck...."

"Louis Vuitton.?? Are you kidding me??" I asked in disbelief. Being on top of the world, I learnt almost all of the expensive brands that were there and Louis Vuitton was one of them. To hear that Jeannine had their designer dress was really worst than a heart attack.

"Anything else??" I asked.

"Uh...yes. She was carrying a Hermès handbag and her mood was a little distorted...and also---" her voice trailed off and I wondered what was wrong. I checked my network but all bars were there.

I was about to call back when my phone vibrated.

'I'll call you in a bit'

I placed my phone down getting the message. Someone else must've been with her.

"A Hermes handbag??" Ciara finally uttered a word after being paralysed for so long.

"Someone rich is definitely helping her out. A starving actress like her can barely afford St Erik's Swedish chips...and now she's carrying a Hermes handbag and a Louis Vuitton designer dress..." I shook it off my head but I couldn't.

"This girl is not to be underestimated....She's going big and we should go bigger..." Ciara rubbed her chin and I fastened my towel.

I was sitting next to her still thinking of a way out of this whole mess.

Jeanine was onto me and I knew I needed a way out of this.

I didn't want to have my name on terrible websites in association to people like her over something as low as an argument.

My career meant so much more to me and I would do absolutely anything for it.

In a minute, my dark side was able to come back with a perfect solution. Jeannine was messing with me and somehow was managing to get away with it.

If I managed to prove beyond doubt that she was the one who dumped the body in my bathtub, she was going to be sorry she ever met me.

I quickly picked my phone and dialed just that one number.

"Eleanor....what are you going to do??" Ciara asked desperately.

"Am gonna make a phone call...." I replied and smiled at her just the way she did last time we are falsely accused by Jeannine.

"You do that princess", she smiled and lied back down crossing her legs and placing her hands behind her head. "You do just that...."

******

An hour after I took a shower, I felt refreshed. Despite Ciara not wanting to go for the beach party, I convinced her to and she accepted.

I wouldn't forgive myself if she failed to have the utmost fun at this wedding because of me. More so, Griffin was Kelly's best friend and Ciara's attendance to this wedding meant so much more than she thought.

I wasn't going to ruin this for her in anyway.

I sat on my dressing table and looked at my reflection in the mirror. My face had really gone dim and I was darker than before. I lost my shine through the past days, spent on weeping over a fright installed in me.

I sighed and took my La Mer's signature Creme de la Mer, face cream which I generously massaged onto my face focusing on the areas under my eyes, my cheeks and forehead.

I went on to apply some light everyday make up and finished it off with a pink lipgloss.

Satisfied, I didn't forget to get a selfie and decided to awaken my twitter account. I had been so drowned in over my head on Instagram that I barely took focus on my other accounts.

Such behaviour was really not suitable for celebrities like me.

I was about to upload another picture when the doorbell rang.

I sat up and wondered who would be visiting me at such a time. I didn't know anyone here and wasn't everyone I came with at the beach party??

I jumped off the bed and slipped on my wedged scandals, walking to the door.

"Who is it???" I screamed before unlocking it.

"Courier..." he replied and I opened the door.

A strange looking man stood there with a carton in his hands and a baseball cap on his head. He gave an spooky smile and I took a few steps back.

"Miss Eleanor?" he asked and I nodded.

"Parcel for you. Please sign here....." he said handing me both the book and the carton. I signed have it back to him.

"Thank you" he bowed and walked down the stairs into the elevator.

I closed the door and sat on the blue armchair placing the carton on the table. I slowly opened it and suddenly, what seemed like a head pursed out with energy, succeeding in giving me a terrible flight. It had blood stained white hair, white painted face and half a bald clown head.

I jumped off the chair and sprained my ankle while running and ended up falling beneath the table.

The head bounced on the spring in the carton and each time, it would go as far as an inch from my face making me lock eyes with it.

Its mouth was open and red lips highlighted wrecking on blood.

"Ha! Ha! Eleanor....since you did not heed to my advice. I've come to take you to the under world...." it said and then bounced back into the carton.

I quickly looked for my phone and having seeing it next to the carton, I reached for it but the clown head bounced out and gave me a terrible fright.

I fell back my chest rising and sinking in pain, while my ears kept hearing what this evil clown was saying. This time, it didn't bounce back into the carton, it just said those terrible things to me again and again.

"Ha! Ha! Eleanor....since you did not heed to my advice. I've come to take you to the under world...."
