CHAPTER 74

I WAS IN FRONT OF MY MIRROR, highlighting my cheek bones, nose and eyebrows.

I wore make up to conceal the pain my face was busy displaying. I had dark eyeshadow and deep maroon lipstick on. I was wearing black jeans, black thy-high, high heeled boots and a black tank top.

I threw ontop a black poncho that I bought from Amazon and my look was just elegant. I pulled it's hoodie up and loved just how I looked.

"Going somewhere??" Lauren asked as she burst into the room.

"Oh yeah....I need to find a dress to wear at the briefing...." I replied without making eye contact. I didn't want her to see that I'd been crying all afternoon after someone sent a pack of dead rats in a chocolate box. As usual, it had a note.

'I left a surprise at home. Did you like it?'

I sighed and tried not to remember it. I didn't want Lauren to know because it would attract attention and I didn't need it. I fastened my wrist watch and looked around for my phone which was on my bed.

I picked it and threw it in my clutch.

"Well then why are you looking like black riding hood?" She asked anxiously.

"Should I wear a red one instead?" I asked smiling, believing that I was pulling this off.

"No...." She declined the offer and I shrugged my shoulders heading for the door.

"You're leaving now? But am not ready yet..." She touched her hair and and dusted the apron she had on, pulling it off and dropping it into the laundry box beneath the dressing table.

"It's okay...am going with Aaron and Adam. I've already called them and they're on their way here...." I smiled and walked out of the room.

I ran down the stairs and walked past the living room to the veranda.

I stood watch and these boys weren't even here yet.

I took a deep breath and sat on the bench at the garden's entrance.

The children where still playing and I planned to call them to ask who had dropped the parcel for me. Any clue from them would help me but then I decided against it.

They were just kids. I didn't want to induce fear in them for no apparent reason.

I turned to the road and saw Adam's car in a distance.

"Should I tell him about the rat yet?" I thought and then no. Not yet. Maybe later. He was already worried about the calamity that happened to my house and this would add salt to his wounds.

I waved at them as the car got nearer and suddenly my phone rang.

If it was ever my job to pick my phone, I would surely earn a lot of money as it rang quiet often.

I slid my bag open to find my backup phone actually ringing. It must be Lana.

A horrid smile appeared on my face as I picked the call.

"Lana...."

"Miss Eleanor. How are you?"

"All good dear, how are you?"

"Am very fine. As you can tell, I have some news for you .."

"Out with it...."

"I got a movie offer signed under Lionsgate Entertainment Cooperation, Little Indy...." She burst open and I felt happy for her.

"Am co-staring it with Jeannine but she threw a tantrum over it. She has an entire team of assistants and following behind her like a swam of bees...."

"Really? Did the company hire all those just for her?"

"No. She brags that boyfriend had them come after her....and today, he personally dropped her on a Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic...." I paused and gasped in my shoes.

This girl had hit levels and new heights. That was the most luxurious and sophisticated cars in the market and what?? Oh Jeannine....what dark secrets are you harbouring?

"And this time, I got the number plate. I was unable to see his face though...."

"No worries...what's the plate number?" I asked.

"DALE 1."

"Dale 1."

"Yes....Dale 1."

"Anything else...."

"Yes yes ...and this is rather a hotter current. We had a volcanic explosion here a few days ago because of this...."

"Oh really??" I asked and suddenly a tap in my shoulder caused me to jump.

Someone was eavesdropping on my conversations. This wasn't good.

I abruptly turned around, fright across my face and saw Adam.

"Why are you scared it's just me...." He laughed and I smacked his shoulder.

"Miss Eleanor? Is someone with you? Should I proceed?"

"Sure my dear go on....it's safe...." I replied and tossed Adam away, gesturing at my phone.

He nodded and raised his hands, walking backwards to the car.

"So as I was saying, she created a ruckus a few days ago. She claimed that we were all insignificant ruffians and were pretending to be friends when actually we stabbed her in the back. No one knows why she said all those but I overhead a gossip session that said she had received a gruesome photo of a dead girl in a bathroom....." She emphasized on the dead girl and bathroom making me laugh.

Aaron was just superb, he deserved to be honoured for this. A gold medal would do. He actually did it.

"Serves her right. Uh...do you ..perhaps know...who it was from?"

"Unfortunately no. It's said to have come from an unknown number and the user is anonymous. They can't even track the phone down...." And that just made me heart flutter.

After a long day of weeping over a dead rat, this was good news to me and sweet music to my ears. Finally my day would end well and I'd be more than pleased to prepare for the upcoming movie briefing.

"Well...that was quiet refreshing. Keep calm and stay safe...don't let anyone find out about this...."

"Sure miss Eleanor. Am always careful before I give you a call. I make sure am absolutely alone and encrypt the call as well..."

"Good girl...!" I hang up the call and a beautiful smile glistened onto my face like it wasn't me who was weeping the entire afternoon and crying myself to bed in fear of whoever this person threatening me was.

I turned around and catwalked to the car feeling energised and empowered more than ever before.

Jeannine got what she deserved and soon she would break about killing that girl as well as Ivanovich.

She was such a witch. How could she? I thought being evil had limited but she was just deceitful; a physical embodiment and living representation of the concept of deceit. So much resemblance with the Greek deity Apate.

"You seem happy?"

"Seem? I am...." I corrected. He was standing on the door, leaning his hand on it.

I pushed my hair back, wore my sunglasses and took his arm off.

Feeling like the richest woman, I got into the car and I didn't miss the sigh on he gave as he got in next to me.

He shut the door and fastened my seatbelt for me.

His romanticism had seized to care about the environment and focussed more on me. Quiet the gentleman

"Off we go, Aaron..." Adam taped his shoulder and Aaron started the car.

"To Milady's please. I hear they've opened a new branch in the city...I want to check it out...." I explained taking off my sunglasses and he nodded.
