CHAPTER 75

"WHAT ARE YOU SHOPPING FOR?"

"I didn't know I needed a reason to go shopping for..." I bluffed. He pushed my forehead away and I sank in laughter for the next couple of minutes.

I had my hands on my sides and had them massage me for a moment. This laughter was killing me.

"Am just happy you're happy...." he hugged me and I hugged him back. To this point, we have maintained a low key when it come to PDA but this time around, Adam wasn't shy anymore.

I know we were used to doing this in front of Aaron but his actions took me off guard back at the car park.

He showed his rights over me and his possession was rich. Am sure all men who saw us were sure to get the message.

"Am sorry about the idiot who wrecked your house...." he apologized and my mind quickly drifted to Drake.

Ever since Lauren mentioned him, I couldn't help but develop my own suspicious motion in reference to him. I had reasons to believe he was the culprit but they just weren't enough to tip the scale off balance.

"Unfortunately, the CCTV footage didn't catch anything as well...." Adam stroke my hair as he added this.

"It's as if this person is foresighted and saw your plan in advance...." he added worriedly and pecked my head. I could feel the sorrow in his voice and it worried me much.

"A rat was sent today....at Lauren's house ...." I opened up to him and didn't dare look at his face.

I was trying not to cry despite the fact that I was wearing waterproof make up.

I didn't want Adam to think I was becoming weaker because of all this scandal. I wanted him to trust that I was more than capable of taking care of myself.

"Am sorry.....it's as if there's nothing I can do about it...." he let out a depressed sigh and I cling on tightly to him.

"...because there's nothing you can do...." I pat him on the back and tried to make him understand all this wasn't his fault. We stayed like that, in the silence that did a lot of talking than words would. We expression our pain so much more than words would ever manage to. I understood him. I was grateful to him that he understood me too.

So what if Ivanovich died. They say whatever happens in the dark will always reveal itself to the light. Then everything was going to be alright. We would soon get to the bottom of this.

I knew it was Jeannine who was behind it but I didn't have any evidence against her.

I had to catch her red handed. Aaron did a good job scaring her off but her response was not good enough. She took matters to her own hands and told off her workmates but that's not what I needed.

I wanted her to confess that she had an undying passion for my Adam and wouldn't mind killing for him. I wanted her to come clean and reveal everything but unfortunately, I wasn't hitting the core.

I had to go bigger.

"Ma'am....we've arrived...." said Aaron at the exact time the engine came to a stop. I rolled down my window and admired the huge building in front of us. The word 'Miladys' was on a high, thick sign and it did a good job attracting everyone around to see.

I looked at the cars around and from the type of each, you'd easily come to a conclusion that this shop wasn't for the improverished.

I walked out of the car and put my shades back on.

Adam walked in with me and Aaron followed after us.

"Why don't you just wait in the car?? We might take some time and...you might get tired of tagging along...." I explained to Aaron. I appreciated his concern for me but I didn't need it. Adam was with me and I felt even more safer.

"Thanks but I don't mind...." he broke my hope and I rolled my eyes and painted a fake smile on my face. Aaron was so dull he couldn't get my signal. I didn't want him to come along mostly because I just wanted to be Adam.

"Shall we??" Adam asked and I nodded. I held his hand and he pushed the door open.

A glamorous breeze welcomed us in and the mood in the shop was just particular. The atmosphere was to my liking and I couldn't help but wonder who this designer was that just suited my preference. It's as if they just built the shop for me.

The arrangement of things was very smart and clean revealing what a prodigy whoever it was that did this was.

"Wow...." Adam exclaimed and I looked at him.

"I know right....I can't wait to try something on...." I let go of his arm and quickly rushed to the section that had cloths.

To make it better, the rolls were hang and tagged with a specific category. You wouldn't have to jam over one in search of something. Those days were over.

I went through the tags and couldn't contain my happiness. There was clubbing, cocktail, dinner, office, leisurewear, date, and many more.

I scaled through the hangers that were under office. I was going for official business and I had to look presentable. On second thought, I placed it back and went over to leisurewear. I am a star so I have to shine regardless. Then, no! What does cocktail have? maybe I'd find something over there.

"Having a hard time??" a sweet Irish woman asked the moment I turned around to look at the echoing sounds.

"Uh... something like that...." I replied looking around for Adam. I could see Aaron but not him. Where was he??

"Are you looking for Mr Jenner, he has gone with our manager to take a look at the newest summer designs we just received yesterday...." she covered up for him and I wondered why Adam didn't tell me himself.

"Exactly...that's why he asked me to stay here with you...." Aaron's deep voice thundered and the shop's assistant shivered the moment she looked at him. I smiled and turned back to the hangers, picking a few and handing them to her.

She received them gladly and walked to the changing room with me and Aaron following after her.

"I'll wait here...." he said pushing his glasses up and shoving his hands in his pocket. I nodded and walked in, closing the door behind me.

"May I?" she asked and I gave a light nod. I picked a red light tulle dress and handed it her. We were trying it first.

The assistant offered me a seat and the moment I sat, she helped me take my shoes off.

She was quick to have me stand and took my poncho off for me.

She helped me undress and pulled me into the red short dress that caught my eye.

I stood in front of the mirror as she fastened the buttons for me.

"What do you think???" she asked. Her reflection looked back at me and smiled in the mirror.

"Well.....it could be better...."
