Ancient Temple of Tanah Agra (2)

The humid air greeted as Rihan stepped deeper into the ancient temple. The atmosphere inside the temple is not much different from the atmosphere of a cemetery at midnight. An ominous wind was blowing out of nowhere. While, the cold air began to creep up on his legs.

Rihan looked around. The altars of the ancestors are arranged in stages starting from the highest, which belong to the ancestors of the early generations. Then the further bottom is the newest generation.

The ancestors referred in here are only to the family heads of the Dragons Noble. Compared to thousands of years ago, currently the noble family of the Dragons only has 5 big names left; the Vaiskyler, Ragnvald, Waldermar, Kane and Frostfall.

"Little rascal, you're finally come in." The shape of a dragon that was familiar to Rihan's eyes was formed from a pool of bright green energy. This time it was not just a head, but a perfect form of a gigantic dragon, complete with detail shape of scales, claws and a dense forest of trees on its wide spine.

The dragon jumped down from his altar. He introduced himself as Frostfall. Ancestor of William Forstfall and represent as dragon of life.

Frostfall narrowed his eyes when he couldn't find what he was looking for. "Weird…." He muttered in confusion.

"No tribal tattoo symbol." Another dragon spirit crawled down from the rather high level of the altar. The energy that formed this spirit was light blue and was nearly resemble to white color.

"He must be from the Kane family," Rihan guessed. Julius also had that similar kind of energy aura.

"Without the symbol, how did you managed to get in?" The Kane family ancestor asked curiously.

"This young man has a tribal tattoo symbol. It was just that he was too embarrassed to show it. Isn't that so, young kid?" Other ancestral spirits began to comment with interest.

"Ragnvald…" thought Rihan. If the light blue energy belonged to the Kane family, then this dark blue energy definitely belonged to the Ragnvald family. The Ragnvald family is the second most respected family after the Vaiskylers.

"Which family is this kid from? He has no manners at all!" Frostfall took advantage of this opportunity to insinuate another family's ancestor. This is a rare opportunity that should not be missed.

"Evan..." Ragnvald raised his head at the altar on a not-so-high level.

The form of an old man emerged from the altar that the ancestor of the Ragnvald family meant. Rihan was quite surprised to see the figure. He clearly knew the old man very well. "Gramps…?" Rihan almost forgot the fact that his great-grandfather, Evanosk Vaiskyler was the Elder and also the previous head of the Vaiskyler family before Arken.

It was a foolish act to think that he would not meet the Dragons who knew him in here.

"Daniel, long time no see. You look well and healthy." Evanosk smiled at Rihan. That smile hasn't changed, it's still the same as Rihan remembers.

"Daniel? Which Daniel?" The Frostfall family ancestor seemed too lazy to dig deep into his thoughts.

"Definitely Rihan Daniel Vaiskyler." The lone dragon with pure white energy shimmered in as well. She is the only female dragon. Her stature is very elegant with a long silky mane that hangs beautifully around her neck.

Today Rihan finally understands why the head of the Waldermar family is considered to be the most graceful and beautiful. Perhaps it was because of this beauty that the Waldermar family always chose a woman as the head of their family.

"Apart from Ares Kennrich and his son Raka Gilbert, are there any other Vaiskyler descendants?" Frostfall was slightly unable to keep up with the flow of the conversation.

"If refers to the name on the Sacred Stone Wall, it seems yes." Ragnvald replied.

"The broken name… Rihan Daniel Vaiskyler. Can he still be considered as part of the Dragons?" Kane's ancestral spirit asked the same question as the other ancestors wanted to ask.

"A traitor whose name was been banished from the stone wall. Guess, today we have a very special guest…" The way Kane spoke, also the shift in how he stared, Rihan knew these ancestors is no different from their descendants. That nasty gaze surely make Rihan despised them even more.

"Daniel is special and not like the other Dragons. He was born without the signs as a dragon descent. I hope all of you can make exception." Evanosk wanted to mediate a deteriorating situation.

"But that doesn't mean he can be a traitor, Evan. After being expelled from Tanah Agra, he is now crawling back like a pathetic dog!" This satire has gone too far and Rihan could not stand still.

"There seems to be a misunderstanding." Rihan interrupted.

Ragnvald, Kane, Frostfall and Waldermar turned their head in astonishment. After receiving such an innuendo, this little rascal still could spoke in a calm voice.

"There are 3 things I want to clarify." Rihan continued without heeding the strange looks of the ancestors.

Not sure since when the atmosphere inside the temple is getting heavier. Ancestors who didn't actually participate in the decisive test of High Honor Dragon, started coming out of their altars.

"First, about my name. It's not because of I'm became traitor and then the Dragons decided to deface my name. To be more precise, I'm the one that defaced my very own name." Rihan confessed.

"Silly!!! A Dragons never willingly to scratched their own name off the Sacred Stone Wall! Little rascal, it seems that you don't understand how important the name on the stone wall is to the Dragons!" Kane indignant in an echoing tone.

"I highly understand. More understanding than you guys in here. That's why I made the decision." Rihan clenched his right hand tightly as he replied.

"Kane, wait until he's done talking." Waldermar restrained any interruptions.

Rihan took a deep breath. "Second, I was not expelled from Tanah Agra. Again, I myself chose to leave after the Tanah Agra was destroyed by Samsara." This time Rihan's words were firmer than before.

The ancestral spirits tried hard to stay silent. But you can see the anger on each of their faces.

"Rihan Daniel Vaiskyler, do you think Tanah Agra is too weak to be your refuge?" Ragnvald spoke with a disappointed tone.

"Third, I don't crawl back like a pathetic dog. Actually your descendants who are so-called pure-blood dragons that are crawling, begging at my feet." Okay! The last one is a little too much. The Dragons didn't come crawling begging at his feet.

"Any special reason?" Waldermar tried to dig up as much information as possible.

Rihan seemed to think for a moment. "Maybe they were too frustrated. Ever since Tanah Agra was wrecked and unable to regained its power, the Dragons also started losing theirs too?"

No one dared to answer. Even the ancestors knew the situation out there. It's just, they couldn't do much.

The Holy Flame at the top of the temple belongs to the predecessor of High Honor Dragon. When the Tanah Agra is in sudden attacked by Arinas, this Holy Flame exerts a enormous power to protect its People and this land. From then on, the power of the Holy Flame faded little by little. Without the Holy Flame, the Dragons seem to have lost their ability as a mighty dragon. Up until this moment, the Dragons had lost the ability of transformation and the younger generation couldn't even use their fire-breath. It was very frustrating indeed, but what could they do except waiting for the birth of the new High Honor Dragons?

"The test of becoming the High Honor Dragons is no like ordinary test, little rascal." Ragnvald spoke after a very long silence. The ancestors seemed to have come to a silent agreement.

"We don't do it in usual way. We just simply 'dive' into your soul." After finished saying, the ancestral spirit of the Ragnvald flowed through Rihan's body.

Rihan was pushed back a step. While Ragnvlad's spirit re-formed behind him.

"Excellent… both body and muscle build, fighting technique, all are in match compare to Raka Gilbert. But the experience and mastery of the sacred-weapon is far above those Dragons we've ever tested. Where did you learn all of that?" Ragnvald could see Rihan's full potential with just that one trivial move.

"High ability alone is not enough for you to survive in this harsh world, young kid. Now it's my turn." Frostfall advanced. Just like Ragnvald, the dragon spirit penetrated Rihan's body. This time it was a little harder and Rihan was forced to take three steps back.

The Frostfall family ancestor did not comment at length. His mouth was tightly shut and his face was quite shocked.

Kane frowned at Frostfall, whose was quite chatty before and now went speechless.

"Next, is me." Waldermar wanted to finish her role as soon as possible.

When 'diving', the ancestors of the Waldermar family seemed to be lost in the darkness that she created herself. She should be the one testing how far this young Dragons can go and overcome this dark, hopeless, and miserable situation. But why did she is the one who get lost?

Waldermar stayed in Rihan's body for quite a while before she was freed. As Waldermar's spirit left, Rihan fell to his knees. He seemed to be released from the torment that he could not describe.

"Actually, what has he been through up until now?" Waldermar gasped for air as she had to exert great strength to get out.

"What are you looking for inside me?" Rihan turned to ask. His feelings became very uncertain.

"You have something interesting within your soul." Another dragon spirit landed roughly on the temple floor. His form is the skeleton of a gigantic dragon's skull. The energy glow around him was a fiery red like a blazing fire.

Since then, only 4 ancestors of the Dragons have shown up. This time what came out was definitely the ancestor of the Vaiskyler family. The great Vaiskyler known as the dragon of longevity. It was he who came up with the idea of making this ancient temple.

Unlike the other ancestral spirits that penetrated Rihan's entire body. The Vaiskyler flowed directly towards Rihan's eyes and a long, painful scream sounded through the outside of the temple.

Arken and Freya were getting more anxious especially after heard the scream.

"Mom, Dad, what happened?" Raka ran over. Behind him were Alvi and Lily. Julius and the other heads of family composed shortly after with panicked look.

"The Holy Flame… It went out." Elis Ragnvald pointed shakily at the Holy Flame at the top of the ancient temple.

One, two, ten minutes… or even half an hour had passed. Still no new Holy Flame a blaze. The air temperature in the Tanah Agra began to drop significantly. The warmth of the day quickly turned into a cold frosty air.

Freya forcibly shook off Arken's grip and ran towards the shrine's door. "Rihan! Son…! Are you there?" She called her son repeatedly and as loud as she could, hoping the figure within the shrine could hear.

"Daniel hasn't come out?" Julius asked Raka.

Raka shrugged his shoulders. He didn't know that his brother had arrived in Tanah Agra until he heard the long scream.

"Demita, William, tighten the guard in Tanah Agra." Arken immediately gave the order. "Henry, Elis, summon all the knights in Raffendel. We are narrowing the scope of defense."

"This time no one will come to our aid." Arken affirmed his every word.
