"Good afternoon Mr. Kim," greeted Samuel
"Good afternoon Mr. Kim," greeted Mila.
"Good..... good afternoon Mr. Kim," Amor's stuttered greeting.
"Emily has not brought you to your unit yet?" Do Yun asked.
"Emily asked us to wait here Mr. Kim," Mila replied for the 3 of them.
"I see, the 3 of you come with me," Do Yun led the way and brought them to unit 616 and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" asked someone from inside.
"David?" asked Do Yun.
The person from inside opened the door, "Ah..... Mr. Kim it's you, please come in".
"No need, just let these 3 get inside they are the newly hired workers, and Emily is not back yet," Do Yun turned to face the newly hired workers. "This is David, he is our cook; he will show you around," then he went back to their own unit.
"Thank you, Mr. Kim," the 3 chorused.
"Come, get inside," invited David.
The unit also has 1 bedroom and same with the Kim's unit the place seems spacious for a 75 square meter area. The furniture and fixture also show that the owner is a minimalist but still far from boring. The dining room which is good for 5 people also functions as a workspace and a place for meals every day for the stay in workers while the living room has a simple futon sofa good for 4 people to provide a place to rest. The kitchen is the workhorse of this unit, the appearance is clean filled with luxe stone, sleek appliances, and gorgeous finishes. The bedroom itself is 50 square meters in area and divided into 2, 1 for the female quarters and the other as male quarters. The female quarters can be defined with clean lines, a restrained palette, and a stripped-down simplicity room. There are 2 double-decked beds on each side with a single bed in the middle.
"For now there is 8 stay in workers, 4 males, and 4 females," explained David. "Ah, Samuel you only have 2 options left either to occupy in the upper deck or the single bed in the middle. Amor and Mila, you discuss between the 2 of you whether to occupy the second double-deck or one of you can occupy the single bed in the middle, okay?"
"Sure, thank you for showing us around David," Mila said.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Someone's at the door, maybe that's Emily already. I'll leave the 3 of you to settle in, okay?" David left to answer the door.
Amor and Mila went inside the female quarters and found Layla the laundrywoman and Chloe the tutor of the Kim's daughter resting in double deck A.
"I guess we'll occupy double-deck B then," said Amor.
"I prefer to occupy the single bed in the middle so that we won't have to choose between the lower or upper deck," replied Mila.
"Ah, yeah that's fine with me."
Knock, knock, knock.
The female quarters' door opened and Emily came in, "You did not lock the door?" she asked but Amor and Mila just looked at each other.
"This is not just your home, there are other people living here. Anyway, I need both of you in the dining area now so that I can brief you with the rules and regulations," ordered Emily and she left.
The 3 newly hired workers joined Emily in the dining area and their orientation started off with household rules:
1. Ask permission to borrow other people's belongings.
2. Do not hurt anyone's body (no hitting, pushing, or kicking).
3. Do not hurt anyone's feelings (no yelling, put-downs, or name-calling).
4. Knock on Closed Doors Before Entering
5. Put your own dishes in the dishwasher when done eating.
6. Limit screen time of using the phone to a couple of hours per day.
7. Stressing the importance of honesty.
8. Washing hands, brushing teeth, and bathing must be done for good health.
"These are our basic household rules if you have any concerns we'll discuss it individually once I talk to each one of you this time about your job description. Samuel, I'll start with you, Amor, and Mila please stay on the sofa and wait for your turn."
Turned out that Samuel is hired as a driver and Amor can only guess what she is hired for. As far as she can remember the Kim's were looking for school companions for each of their children and 2 personal secretaries for both of them, she hoped to be a school companion and winced at the thought of becoming a personal secretary for Mr. Kim.
"Mila," Emily called out.
It seems that Mila is hired as Mrs. Kim's personal secretary and Amor is still hoping for the school companion position but her heart seems to know something is not right since it is beating again like a drum with a thunderous noise it could ever make as if she is going to war.
"Amor," Emily called her out at last.
As soon as Amor was seated Emily congratulated her, "I never thought you'd make it."
"Ah..... if you were surprised how much more me?"
"The Kim's doesn't give reasons why they hire and fire so don't ask me as well."
"Oh..... as much as I'd like to know why I can only be grateful to them and take into heart my job to deserve the position."
"You should but I don't think you'd be grateful though since you're hired as Mr. Kim's personal secretary."
Amor can only hold her breath since she's not sure whether to let out a sigh or take a deep breath.
Responsibilities of the personal secretary typically include: acting as the first point of contact, dealing with correspondence and phone calls. managing diaries and organizing meetings and appointments, often controlling access to Mr. Kim himself, booking and arranging travel, transport, and accommodation.
"Amor, are you listening?"
"Huh, yes," but Amor honestly did not hear anything that Emily said.
"You look space out, stay focus if you want to survive even for just a month," then Emily continued on.
1. Organizing events and conferences
2. Reminding Mr. Kim of important tasks and deadlines
3. Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence
4. Managing databases and filing systems
5.Implementing and maintaining procedures/administrative systems
6. Liaising with other staff, suppliers, and clients
7. Collating and filing expenses
8. Miscellaneous tasks to support Mr. Kim, which will vary according to the sector eg completing some corporate governance reporting (to ensure that the business is being run properly and complying with legislation and regulations) or conducting research.

Although wide awake, thinkin' of the hours gone by it seems she is living in a dream.
