"He likes me. What now? How do I respond to someone saying they like me? Can I just say thank you or I'll take time to consider what he wants?" she asked herself.
"Uhm..... Mr. Kim," Amor shyly smiled.
"Here are your orders, sir ma'am," the waiter interfered.
After the waiter left, Do Yun handed Amor a pair of chopsticks, "If I didn't like you I wouldn't hire you, right?" he said.
"Ah, that kind of like," answered Amor with a tone of disappointment.
Do Yun took the Bibimbap first and Amor just followed through, the dish was served in a piping-hot stone bowl that slowly cooked the ingredients and crisped the rice as they eat. Do Yun is really keen on using chopsticks, so Amor tried to use them also. Seeing Amor having difficulty eating using chopsticks, Do Yun asked the waiter for a spoon.
"Chopsticks are not customary in eating bibimbap, most Koreans prefer eating with a spoon. Not only is a spoon easier to control, but it helps you scoop up giant mouthfuls," Do Yun gave the spoon to Amor. "This is Gochujang it is a popular Korean condiment made with red chilies, fermented soybeans, glutinous rice, and salt. Gochujang is great for adding a burst of heat to any dish, but it also infuses food with a subtle sweetness and a dash of umami. If you do not like gochujang this Sriracha will work in a pinch. If you're not familiar with Sriracha, it's another chili-based red sauce with a dash of garlic. It's a little bit spicier than Gochujang, so be careful with it."
"Oh..... I can eat spicy food but not that spicy."
"This restaurant also provides a side of sesame oil, if you want to add sesame oil, you should do so. Adding a little drizzle of this oil —be careful though, this stuff is potent—will impart a warm, nutty flavor and an instant wallop of that all-important umami."
"Uhm..... I only know cooking oil Mr. Kim," shyly answered Amor.
"Bibimbap is Korean for "mixed rice," not "compartmentalized ingredients placed atop rice." So grab your trusty spoon and stir away. After you've mixed it up, you're ready to eat. Enjoy!" Do Yun gave a warm smile after he took his first bite.
"Ah..... his smile alone sufficed my hunger," she thought while eating her own bowl of bibimbap.
Amor hoped that the hot bowl of bibimbap will melt Do Yun's cold heart, "I like you the way you are." She could not stop thinking about what he said and how careless can he be, "If I didn't like you I wouldn't hire you, right?" "He is right, what other reason could he possibly have for liking me except as an applicant," she told herself.
"Here have a piece of delicious Korean fried chicken, this is super crunchy chicken and is coated with hugely addictive homemade Korean sweet chili sauce."
"Oh..... thank you, Mr. Kim," Amor gave a gentle smile.
"I'm sure you will fall in love with it instantly, Korean fried chicken (KFC) is a popular snack and appetizer. Growing up in Korea, though, we often had it as our weekend dinner. It provided us an easy and lazy night dinner solution because all you need to do was call up your local KFC store, of which there are many to choose from, order the types of chicken you want then they will deliver it to your doorstep within 30 mins. And, all for this under US $10! Nowadays it costs a bit more than this of course," Do Yun gave a sputtering burst of a laugh.
"Anyhow, there are a few different types of Korean fried chicken available on the market, but the most famous one would be spicy Korean fried chicken Yangnyeom Chicken. Yangnyeom chicken is double deep-fried chicken that is coated with sticky, spicy, and sweet sauce. In my opinion, taste and sensation are almost magical! It's super delicious and addictive!" Do Yun explained with a flirtatious smile.
"Also, Korean fried chicken is often associated with beer. I don't know the reasons, but they sure go well together! Though my preference is pairing it with a ginger beer since I don't drink alcoholic beverages often. Anyway, I hope you won't be disappointed!"
"Uhm..... of course, I'll definitely fall in love with this Mr. Kim," Amor gave a warm smile after she took her first bite. "I might even have a heart attack if you keep on being nice to me like this," she thought.
"Yes?" Do Yun suddenly asked her.
"Huh?" Amor asked the question back to Do Yun.
"Can you stop making me guess your thoughts, it drains my brain cells?"
"Well you seem to guess all of them right," she told herself.
"Ah..... I was just thinking Mr. Kim why you hired me," Amor could not think of any other safe thought to share with Do Yun.
"Why not?"
"Oh..... well, I would understand if I was hired as a school companion but not as a personal secretary."
"Why not?" Do Yun put his chopstick down leaned against his chair stared at Amor with his arms folded and his legs crossed.
"Mr. Kim I'm sorry," the teary-eyed Amor felt bad for making Do Yun look angry, she held onto his hand and apologized immediately.
Do Yun only gave Amor a closed-lip smile while looking at her hand on top of his. Upon realizing that she has held onto Do Yun's hand, she immediately took her hand off him and bowed her head down in embarrassment.
"Do I look angry?" Do Yun asked with a twisted smile.
"Uhm..... I'm not sure but I don't want you to feel bad," answered Amor without looking at him.
"I asked you why I should not hire you because I also don't know why I hired you. I know you are not qualified for the job but there's something in you that I didn't find in the other applicants. I can only hope that you'll make it for a month to last even for at least a year, I feel comfortable when you're around me and that's enough reason for you to become my personal secretary. And....."
Amor looked at Do Yun and waited for what else he will say to her.
"I answered your question, it's time you answer mine."
"When will this question and answer portion end?" she thought but her heart seems to know something is not right since it is beating again like a drum with a thunderous noise it could ever make as if she is going to war.
"Why do you always give me that look?" asked Do Yun.
"How exactly do I look at him?" she asked herself.
She doesn't want to lose what she feels right now but she also don't want to be the one who's broken-hearted.
