Maybe it means something more .....

"Ah..... ha..... haha," Amor let out a nervous laugh. "That's difficult to tell Mr. Kim since I can't see myself when I look at you. You know for us Filipinos as long as there is rice we can eat anything," she reached for the bowl of Korean steamed rice trying to change the subject.

"I guess you're right," Do Yun took his chopsticks back and reached for the Tteokbokki this time.

After finishing off their meals, they went back to the parking lot where Jack was waiting. While at the front passenger seat, Amor felt she was grilled earlier even if they didn't order any grilled meat. The silence is too deafening inside the car and her eyes are itching to catch a glimpse of Do Yun but are trying hard to resist the temptation. Before she knew it they have finally arrived home and Jack opened the rear door for Do Yun who walked past her without glancing on her side. "What do I expect?" she thought then got off the car and said her goodbyes to Jack. It was a long first day for her and maybe longer in the coming days, she checked both her company and personal phone before going to bed and no messages thus she decided to call her mother first thing in the morning.

Driiiiin. Driiiiin. Driiiiin.

Amor was awakened by the sound of an old alarm clock, she then checked the common clock on their wall and it is already 5 am. Chloe's bed has been made up so it means she is awake already. "How was your first day yesterday?" Layla asked while tidying up her bed.

"Oh..... I'd like to think it went well," Amor gave a sleepy smile.

Outside the quarters, everyone seems busy attending to their own business still. "I should get used to this already, " she told herself.

Amor got ready a little early so she can still make a call to her mother while she is outside unit 615. She then took her personal phone and dialed her mother's number, after a few rings someone answered on the other line.

"Hello?"

"Hello, ma."

"Amor, how are you? Why did you call this early?"

"Uhm..... I might be busy later that's why I decided to call you now. How are the kids? Are they awake already?"

"Are you kidding me? Of course not, for sure they will get up later around 9 am to take their brunch."

"Ah..... I see. Just let them get some more rest then, I hope I can find a little time later to call back."

"Have you spoken to Theo?"

"Not yet, I'll call Evelyn after this call."

"Yeah, go ahead then I think he needs to talk to you."

"Oh..... okay I'll call him right now. Bye, ma." As soon as her mother ended the call, Amor dialed Evelyn's number right away and after a few rings, someone answered on the other line.

"Hello, Evelyn?"

"Hello, Amor?"

"Yeah, it's me."

"I just left your house, do you want to talk to Theo? I can go back there right now."

"Uhm..... are you sure it's okay?"

"Sure, wait don't hang up we can talk while I'm walking. So how's everything there?"

"Should I tell her about Do Yun," she smiled thinking about it. "Well, I'd say it wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either."

"Good, the kids left for school as soon as I handed them their packed lunches but Theo has been waiting for your call since yesterday."

"Why didn't you tell me so I could call right away? Is he okay??" Amor felt a little guilt thinking about Theo.

"He's fine. He only asked me if you called but didn't ask me to call nor text you so I didn't bother it may not be that important then. I'm here now, I'll knock on the door first okay?"

Amor can hear Evelyn calling out Theo in the background.

"Theo, I have Amor on the phone do you want to talk to her now?"

"Just wait a while, Amor, I think I can hear Theo trying to open the door now."

"Thanks so much, Evelyn, don't worry I still have time."

"Evelyn you're back again," Amor can hear Theo now and she pities him more.

"I have Amor on the phone, here."

"Hello?"

"Hello, Theo?!"

"Why didn't you call yesterday?"

"Does he miss me already?" she asked herself. "Ah..... I was busy yesterday sorry, that's....."

"Just because you're the one working now doesn't make you the head of the family."

"Oh..... I don't mean it that way I just....."

"I need money, ask for a salary advance from your boss.

"Uhm..... Theo, I don't think....."

"Just ask for 2 weeks' worth of advance, it's not that much for sure they can afford it."

"Ah..... Theo you know I just started yesterday I don't think they trust me already to give me my 2 weeks' worth of salary in advance."

"I know where you're staying, I can ask someone to go there and talk to your bosses. Is that what you want?"

"Oh..... no..... you don't have to send someone here. It's just that, if I ask for an advance now then I can't go home next week on my rest day."

"Then don't come, just send it through money transfer I'll expect it this week," and Theo ended the call.

"This is my reality," she told herself and let out a sigh.

Standing outside unit 615, she straightened her tee and pants the only casual comfy outfit she can afford to bring with her. Pressing her lips, she took a deep breath and lightly knocked on the door thrice and David opened the door.

"Good..... good morning Mr. and Mrs. Kim," Amor stuttered but Do Yun only gave her a glance and continued eating. She saw Mila sitting on the sofa thus she sat beside her. Amor just stared on the floor thinking about what Theo asked her to do, "He didn't even bother to ask if I have eaten already," she thought while trying to hold back her tears. She didn't even notice that the Kim's have finished their breakfast and that the tutors have joined them in the living room already. "How do I ask for a 2-week salary advance on my second day?" she asked herself. Mila suddenly stood up and that brought Amor's senses back but before she could give her greeting Ae Cha headed out to the door thus Mila hurriedly followed. She then found out that she is alone in the living room and after letting a big sigh a tear fell from her eye. "No, this is not a good way to start my day. I'll find a way," she then brushed the tear from her cheek and forced a smile for herself. A few minutes later Do Yun came out from their room wearing well-fitted jeans, a casual button-down shirt, and sneakers. Amor stood up and before she could give her greeting Do Yun headed out to the door thus she hurriedly followed but before reaching the door Do Yun suddenly stopped and Amor was not able to stop her pace on time thus she bumped her forehead against his back. She felt as if ice-cold water was poured over her head, she wanted to apologize right away but no words came out and her jaw just dropped. Do Yun slowly turned around to face Amor and leaned his head forward to meet her gaze. Looking at his clear, smooth, and fair skin which is probably 6 inches away from her vague, uneven, and dark skin she is more confused about whether to apologize for bumping him or to apologize that a murky appearance is right in front of him.

Seeing herself in his eyes, she thinks she finally knows how exactly does she look at him.
