The Shalour City Gym
Part 1: The Hardest Battle Yet
Immediately, I went to the Pokemon Center to heal my pokemon. I sat down to wait for their healing to be finished when I saw someone in the corner with scarlet hair. Our eyes met and she got up and walked over to me.
"Hey! What're you doing here?" she asked me, quite loudly.
"I'm sorry, have we met before?" I asked.
"Battle me, right now!" she said.
"Uh, my pokemon are healing right now. So sorry, no battle," I responded.
"My brother Teal told me that you had a whole super strong Snorlax! And then you boxed it! Use that!" she yelled.
"Okay, sure, but can I at least know your name?" I asked.
"The name's Scarlet! Now let's fight!" she said.
I went and withdrew my Snorlax and walked outside to the battlefield to battle this crazy girl.
"Alright! This is a one-on-one! Come on out, Torterra!" she said, bringing out her pokemon.
""Kay then. Come on out, Snorlax," I said.
Our pokemon were brought out and the ground shook, and surprisingly, Snorlax was awake to begin the battle.
"Alright Torterra! Use Earthquake!"
"Counter with Bulldoze."
The ground-type moves clashed, causing the ground itself to be distorted greatly. However, both pokemon were fine.
"Now! Leaf Storm!"
"Protect."
Torterra sent a large storm of leaves at Snorlax, causing the dust to surround it. And when the dust settled, Snorlax was perfectly fine.
"End it! Solar Beam!"
"Counter with your own."
They each absorbed sunlight and manifested it into balls in front of their mouths. Finally, they shot at each other, causing a huge explosion. The people around came to see what was going on. And when the smoke cleared, Snorlax was still standing, and so was Torterra. But Torterra was barely standing.
"Finish this. Hyper Beam."
Snorlax charged up another ball, and ended the battle with Torterra fainted.
"Jeez! Teal was right! That thing is a monster!" Scarlet said.
"Yeah, it is. Anyways, why did you want this battle exactly?"I asked.
"I wanted to see how strong you were! Also, Teal said your Frogadier could easily break a tree. Is that true?" she asked.
"Yeah. I taught him how to do that. Why?" I asked.
"Try it on my Torterra! Let's see just how strong you are," she said.
So, we went back into the Pokemon Center and got my pokemon. Back outside, her Torterra was perfectly fine.
"Alright, Fronja. Use Ice Beam and then Ice Punch on Torterra," I said.
Fronja came out of his ball and immediately sent an Ice Beam at Torterra, freezing it in place. He rushed over and used Ice Punch to deal big damage to Torterra.
"Wow! He wasn't kidding! Walk with me, kid. Let's have a chat," she said, changing tone.
"Okay? As long as we get to the gym," I said.
And so, we started walking.
"Alright, kid. I know you wouldn't just have a Frogadier that's strong enough to deal that much damage to my Torterra. Not to mention that it's a little pale. So tell me. How? Does it have the Pokérus? How is it so strong?" she asked, seriously.
"I don't know, he's just strong. And he trains a lot. He just has a lot of perseverance, I guess," I said.
"Now, now. Don't give me that bullshit. Tell me. How is he so strong?" she asked, once again.
"Why would I tell you? You literally came at me as if you were going to scream in my face about random shit. I just met you. And you expect me to give you a full explanation of my training methods? Hell no," I said.
"Uh, I-"
"Don't start. I don't want to hear it. You have been quite a little shit today. Now, please leave before someone gets hurt," I said.
And, of course, she left without a second thought. So, I walked over to the gym. I walked inside and saw all of the grind rails. I remembered the gym puzzle immediately, however there wasn't one.
"What's the plan, Hitmonchan? How's the future Champ today? This is the Fighting-type Gym of Shalour City! You on your guard? Doesn't matter if you come from ahead or from behind around here! Just run into all the Roller Skaters and beat 'em! That's your ticket!" he said.
"Thanks, Gym Guide," I said.
"The name's Nathan, actually."
"Oh. Thanks, Nathan."
I walked to the beginning of the gym and skated towards the battlefield. The trainers I battled increased my levels a good bit. Quick stat update:

Finally, I was ready. I walked up to the battlefield and went to my box, across from Korrina, who was already standing there.
'Hehe, this should be fun for you.'
'Oh, I didn't know you could speak to me like this.'
'Of course I can! I'm omnipotent!'
'Fair point.'
Nathan came up to the battlefield and braced himself.
"Alright! This battle will be a max-of-six on five! Only the challenger is allowed to switch out! Battle begin!" he called out.
'Get ready.'
"Come on out, Mienshao!" Korrina said.
'Hol up. You didn't say anything about illegal pokemon.'
'Heheh, that's not even the half of it.'
"Alright then. Come on out, Hades," I said.
------------------GYM BATTLE BEGIN------------------
"Use Focus Blast!"
"Honestly, just do your best and let me know if you get tired."
Mienshao powered up a blast between her hands. Hades ran for her, but Mienshao shot the blast as he got close. Hit with a Focus Blast at point blank range, Hades was shot back towards me.
"Okay, maybe not. Are you okay?" I asked Hades, which he nodded at. "Alright then, try a Flamethrower."
"Don't let him hit you! Attack with Aura Sphere!"
Hades manifested fire near his mouth and spewed Flamethrower at Mienshao. However, Mienshao shot her aura at Hades, making the attacks clash.
'Now, use Thunder Punch while she can't see.' I thought towards Hades.
[A.N. Yes, he can do that. Just because he hasn't done it yet in the story doesn't mean that his pokemon can't understand his thoughts. He can understand their speech. This is only natural to happen after a while. How else would Red be able to communicate with his pokemon?]
Hades rushed towards Mienshao, lightning manifested into his fist. Mienshao, incapacitated, wasn't aware of this. By the time the dust settled, it was too late for Mienshao to do anything. Hades hit with a powerful Thunder Punch, pushing Mienshao far back, weakening it greatly.
"Mienshao! Can you still fight?" Korrina asked.
Mienshao nodded, still on one knee from the powerful blow.
"Alright! Then use Reversal!"
"Counter with Flame Scratch."
Mienshao powered up with an orange aura surrounding her. Meanwhile, Hades was holding his wrist, charging all of his firepower[see what I did there] into his hand. They both charged at each other, and when they clashed, dust rose. And when the dust settled, Hades was standing over Mienshao, who had fainted.
"Mienshao! You did great," Korrina said, bringing her back.
"You too, Hades. Take a rest," I said, bringing Hades back into his ball.
"Alright then! Time for you to come out, Machamp!" she said.
Oh. Come. On!
"Come on out then, Sage," I said.
"Use Seismic Toss!"
"Keep him at bay with an Energy Ball,"
Machamp ran towards Sage, but Sage didn't let him get close enough. Sage shot an Energy Ball at Machamp, hitting him backwards.
"Alright, then use Hyper Beam!"
"Dodge and use Solar Beam."
Machamp charged a beam in his hands and shot it at Sage. Sage barely dodged it and charged a Solar Beam. Machamp had to recharge, so he was unable to dodge the powerful Solar Beam that was shot at him. Machamp was shot farther backwards, and was nearly unable to stand.
"Use Revenge!"
"Mach Punch."
Machamp covered himself in an orange energy and shot himself at Sage, with Sage lunging at Machamp with a strong Mach Punch. The attacks clashed, and a burst of orange light came out of it. When the flash was gone, both pokemon had fallen.
"You did amazing, Machamp," Korrina said. "Come back and take a rest."
"What? Huh. You were able to knock out one of my pokemon, Korrina. That's no small feat. Guess I'll have to go serious now. Come on back, Sage. Well done," I said.
"Well, come on out, Hawlucha," she said.
"Hades, come back out please," I said.
Hades came out and I tossed him a berry to rejuvenate his strength.
"Now, go for a Thunder Punch," I said.
"Brick Break!"
Hades ran at Hawlucha with lightning in his fist, and Hawlucha flew towards Hades. Hawlucha chopped Hades, but Hades blocked it with the hand he wasn't using and uppercut Hawlucha with his Thunder Punch, sending Hawlucha flying.
"Secret weapon! Flying Press!"
"Block and use Thunder Punch once again."
Hawlucha spread his wings and fell down upon Hades, but Hades blocked and hit with another Thunder Punch, sending him flying back near Korrina.
"Roost, then use Wing Attack!"
"Don't let him."
Hawlucha tried to land and heal, but Hades rushed towards him and bit him with Fire Fang, throwing him towards me. Then he used Flamethrower to finish him off.
"Nice job, Hawlucha. Time for my next pokemon. Come on out, Urshifu!" she said.
[A.N. I should probably mention that this is an SS Urshifu, not an RS Urshifu]
Hol' the fuck up.
'Why exactly did you give her an Urshifu?'
'It's a challenge. Can you beat it?'
"Alright then Hades, come back. Fronja, let's do this," I said.
Fronja came out and I turned my eye blue. This was gonna be our hardest battle yet.
Part 2: Evolution
"Alright, Urshifu! Use Rock Smash!"
"Dodge and use Double Team."
Fronja made many clones of himself, but Urshifu used Rock Smash on the ground, causing it to tremble. This didn't help because all of the clones jumped at the right instance.
'Now, use Power-Up Punch.'
The Fronjas came down onto Urshifu, hitting multiple times, super-effectively, each time power increasing. Once all of the clones were done, Urshifu was down on one knee.
"Now! Revenge!"
"Counter with Power-Up Punch."
Urshifu enraged and was covered with an orange aura. He lunged at Fronja, and Fronja lunged at him. They clashed, and the orange aura combined with a blue light to make a huge light explosion. The dust settled. And Urshifu was standing in front of a black Greninja.
"Oh, Fronja! You evolved! You look badass," I said.
{Of course I do. Now, before any more compliments, let's beat this guy's ass.} Fronja said.
"Yeah, let's do it. Use Power-Up Punch and repeat it until he falls," I said.
"Evolution won't be enough to defeat me! Urshifu! Use Close Combat!" Korrina shouted.
The two lunged at each other, but Fronja was clearly taking the bout over. He refused to let up one bit. After about 30 seconds of this, they both jumped back to their respective side. And after bowing to Fronja, Urshifu fell.
"Nice job, Fronja. Stand beside me, will you?" I asked.
{Sure, why not.} Fronja said.
"Wow. You beat Urshifu. Then I guess I have to use my trump card. Come on out, Lucario!"
"Come out, Son Goku."
"Lucario! Mega-evolve!"
'Hol up once again. You never said anything about megas. Why don't I have one yet?'
'Do you have a mega item or a Key Stone?'
'Fair point.'
Meanwhile, Lucario's hair grew. His fists and feet turned red. His spikes duplicated. He had mega-evolved.
"Now! Bone Rush!"
"Oh, uh, use Counter."
Lucario made a bone out of pure energy in his hands and ran towards Son Goku. But as soon as Son Goku was about to be hit, he blocked the attack and gut punched Lucario to send him flying.
"Now, Fire Punch."
"Not on my watch! Use Counter!"
"Counter the Counter with Counter."
Son Goku rushed towards Lucario, who countered the wrong hand. Son Goku countered his Counter with a Fire Punch, knocking Lucario into the wall.
"Lucario! Use Extreme Speed!"
And Lucario disappeared.
"Son Goku. Sense your surroundings and use Fire Punch when Lucario gets close."
Son Goku closed his eyes and sensed his surroundings, just like Fronja taught him. He focused, and felt that Lucario was right behind him. He turned around and used a full force Fire Punch on Lucario, who was behind him. He launched Lucario back into the wall, knocking him out once and for all.
