The Monkey King

"Alright, Luxray, use Electric Terrain!"

Luxray roared and its lightning aura expanded to cover the entire battlefield. But then, the aura reset itself. While the terrain was up, Luxray still had its aura. Okay then. This oughta be hard for Son Goku. Cool.

"Now, go for a Wild Charge!"

Luxray began charging up a large amount of electricity around it. Even using its aura to increase the power. Then, it ran right at Son Goku, fully ready to take him down with one attack. Meanwhile, Son Goku was charging up a single attack. His fist was covered in orange energy. I recognized this attack. It was Focus Punch, one of the strongest Fighting-type attacks. Usually used as a finishing move. But the question is: When the frick did he learn that? Anyways, Luxray almost hit Son Goku while he was focusing. But he didn't let that happen. Son Goku launched his punch, just as he was about to be hit. The two attacks clashed, with a shockwave of wind being created.

But the winner of the exchange was clear. Son Goku's attack blew away everything and everyone. All of us, even those behind the protective glass had to cover our faces and brace ourselves. The Electric Terrain was blown away, the electricity around Luxray was blown away, all of it. Luxray was blown right to the other side of the battlefield, but somehow it wasn't knocked out. Son Goku's fist was steaming from that powerful blow. Once we thought it was okay to stop bracing ourselves, we looked at the damage done to the field. Where the attacks clashed was a crater, showing just how powerful the attack was.

"Uh, okay then. Son Goku, amazing job, but jeez! Since when were you such a force of mass destruction?"

"Well, this fight isn't over just yet! Luxray, use Thunder Fang, once again!"

Luxray slowly got up, its fangs covered in an extreme amount of electricity. It lunged at Son Goku again, as if it didn't learn its lesson from the previous blow. In response, Son Goku dashed around it as Luxray clamped its jaws on where Son Goku was, leaving itself open. Son Goku punched Luxray from the back, launching it a bit away. But once again, Luxray slowly got up. I swear, these mega pokemon are so resilient!

"Jeez, you've got one resilient pokemon right there. But I don't think I'll let it slide. Son Goku, listen to me this time. Truly end this with Close Combat."

"Luxray, go for anything at this point. Try a Superpower."

Both of the pokemon on the field began glowing. Luxray's blue lightning aura turned orange and connected with its body, making it glow orange. And Son Goku began to glow with flames all around his body, specifically on his fists and feet. The two lunged at each other, causing an explosion at their collision. And then, a roar was heard. Just like the one Luxray roared when it raised the Electric Terrain. Only this time, it was a roar of pain, not power. Son Goku had really gone all out in this fight, it seems. When the smoke cleared, everyone already knew who won. Luxray was on the ground, and it had lost its mega form. Son Goku loomed over it, looking triumphant in his win.

"Luxray is unable to battle! Infernape is the winner! The winner of this gym challenge is the challenger!"

------------------GYM BATTLE END------------------

"Well, come on back, Luxray. You did good," Clemont said.

"You too, Son Goku. Amazing job," I said.

Clemont and I walked to the middle of the arena where we shook hands, a sign of the battle truly being over. He handed over the Voltage Badge and left the stadium with his sister trailing him. So, naturally, I left as well. Once I left, I noticed that the battle went on longer than I thought. The sun was already setting. So, I began my short walk to the pokemon center when someone called out to me, I assumed.

"Hey! Blue jacket!" they called out. I turned around, and saw a black haired kid walking towards me. In all honesty, he looked quite like me. The only difference was that he looked… he had a…

Was that an evil gleam I saw in his eyes?

    I couldn't tell.

"Hey, your pokemon have extreme power! How did you train them like that?" he asked.

"Oh, I'm not really sure. Most cases, I just give them instructions and they execute them at their own pace."

"Ah, well, I think I'm gonna have to try that! Thanks a lot!" The kid ran off, towards Bleu Plaza. I paid him no mind and continued to the pokemon center. Once I got my pokemon healed, I decided to go back to Route 13 and camp out for the night. There, I let all of my pokemon out and let them just chill for a while. Some played, some sparred, and some trained on their own. But what caught my eye while I was setting up my tent was Luca and Son Goku were training together. And Luca was manifesting his aura into different weapons. Which makes sense, really. But here's the kicker…

Son Goku manifested his flames into a pole.

Now how the heck did he do that? He never ceases to amaze me, I swear. Eventually, the two of them sparred with their weapons, Son Goku using his pole and Luca using a staff. They began their fight with a strong clash of blows that caught everyone's attention. They kept attacking each other, never going for an ending attack but not going easy either. But soon, Son Goku got a good hit on Luca, causing him to back up a bit. So, he changed his weapon.

    To a frickin' aura cannon.

Immediately, Luca launched a giant aura cannonball at Son Goku, which he stabbed right through and dissipated easily. This kept on with Son Goku getting slowly closer, eventually hitting Luca in the chest, launching him back and putting him on the ground. Son Goku walked over to Luca and pulled him up, showing that he was a good sport, even in the heat of battle.

Ya know, with that pole of his, Son Goku is really living up to his namesake of the monkey king.
