Somewhat normal

I woke up on Sunday morning just as any other day. I spent some time in my bed just staring at the ceiling. Must have been at least an hour. I reflected on how my life probably wouldn't be the same now that I decided to not get rid of Hannya.

I washed my face, brushed my teeth and combed my hair. Hannya probably left when I told her I was going to bed.

"Anyone here?" Huh, no response. I could have some peace and quiet until she comes over and bothers me again. I ate some cereal from the pantry and went to my closet to change.

I flinched. Hannya was still there, sleeping. She looked kinda cute with her black hair mopped over her eyes. She peeled her eyes open and yawned. "Good morning! Did I over sleep? I'm sorry. I really wanted to make you breakfast." She looked down.

"I already ate." I found it humorous and disturbing that Hannya apologized for not feeding me, but never so much as voiced a regret about her attempted murders.

"Aw, maybe later for lunch." She brushed her hair away from her eyes. In all honestly I wouldn't really trust something she made me.

"Soo, why are you in my closet?" I addressed the elephant in the room. Why would she still be here?

"Your clothes smell like you." She held one of my jackets close to her body. "They keep me warm."

"Oh okay. Put that back and can you leave for a bit so I can get changed."

Hannya frowned but quickly got up. She hugged me, which I wasn't all to comfortable about, but what could I do about it.

Still hugging me, she laid her chin across my shoulder. "What are we doing today, for our first date?"

Oh right, almost forgot about that. "Oh uh-I don't know. I haven't done anything like this." My face started to get red, this hug was lasting way too long.

"It's fine, being with you is good enough." She told me.

I gave an awkward smile to her. "Thanks?"

She soon left my room and I changed into a plain maroon t-shirt and jeans. As I sat on my bed and checked my phone to see any texts, none of course, I heard the shower turn on. Weird. I felt a bit uncomfortable knowing that a girl was only a few rooms away, naked and taking a shower. It didn't bother me last night when she was in my bed, so why now?

I decided to make more of a habit to lock doors since Hannya would be visiting me more. I soon heard a knock on my door, presumably Hannya. "What is it?" I said bluntly, still staring at my phone.

"I le-left my clothes here. It's in my bag I brought here. The closest." I heard her through the door. Now that I thought about it, I could check her bag now right? "Don't look in the bag! Just open the door a bit and pass it through, please."

"Eh it's fine I'll just pass your clothes through." I nonchalantly replied.

"No, please just pass it through!" She sounded nervous.

Cmon what was the worst that could be in here? I started to worry a bit. Did she have a severed hand? A mutilated face? A piece of someone's ear? I crept to the closet and zipped open the bag, even though Hannya was still knocking fervently.

Hm seemed pretty normal at first. Clothing, makeup, lipstick, ahem-uh lady products? Heh whatever. I felt a bit bad for encroaching on her personal space, knowing there was nothing out of the ordinary. "Hey sorry for looking through. I was curio-"

While I was still sifting through the bag deeper, I found a few suspicious items. A knife, similar to the one she kept in her locker, and a journal. I flipped through it slowly, it didn't have any writing. It was like a scrapbook. One page had pictures of me, presumably taken at school while I wasn't looking, a chewed up piece of gum, and a strand of hair? Yuck. I rushed to throw the scrapbook in my trash can and I hid the knife under my bed.

"Ok I'm passing your bag through." I quickly slid the door open and tossed the bag forward. Her hair was down and wet. Cute. I closed the door and waited for her to change. After what had seemed to be 15 minutes she banged on my door, it felt as if she almost knocked the door down.

"Alright alright, what's the big fuss?" I unlocked and opened the door, Hannya quickly ran right past me. She started searching and searching for what I assumed was the her prized journal. I grabbed it out of the trash can and held it in front of me. "Looking for this?" I questioned her.

"That journal means a lot to me. Please give it back Caleb." She frowned.

"Uh no- I'm throwing this away. Do you realize how creepy this is?"

"But it contains a lot of memories of being near you." She pouted.

"You mean when you were stalking me?"

"Well, yeah." She acted like this was normal. Poor girl.

"It doesn't matter I'm throwing this out." I declared. She tried grabbing the journal but I held it above my head.

"Please give it back I need it." Holy crap, what's gonna make her stop? I hesitated before speaking. This better get her to let me throw this creepy journal out.

"Uh why care ab-about the journal... when you have me? We're..." I swallowed hard, "dating now, right?"

She froze in place after I acknowledged our relationship. She just looked at the ground. See? That worked.

"You're right." She lifted her head and smiled at me. She insouciantly walked to the door and locked it. "How about we have our first kiss, it seems like the right time."

"Haha very funny." She seemed serious, shit what do I do. Oh right- I don't have to listen to her. "What if I don't want to kiss you." I said bluntly. Sure, a bit harsh- but did I really like her? Sure I may blush here and there, but that's just hormones. Right?

She grabbed the journal out of my hands. "Hey!" I protested.

"How about this- I will give you the journal and you can destroy it... if you kiss me. And if that's not enough, maybe I'll just go and finish Noah off while he's still in the hospital. I'm sure I can find a way to sneak peanuts in his food."

I was freaking out a bit. I started sweating and twitching. It was pretty embarrassing and disgraceful to act like this in front of a girl. You can't really blame me though, when Hannya's threatening to kill someone if I don't.

"Ok fine." I closed my eyes and waited for her to kiss me. I clenched my jaw shut. I waited for a few seconds and peaked open to see her sneering.

"I said you have to kiss me." Hannya giggled.

I sighed and quickly walked to the door to unlock it. She's just messing with me, right?

"Okay I'm gonna go order some pizza." I had hoped she would just let it go, but alas I was mistaken. Hannya clenched my arm tight and held it. I looked back to see her starring at me, her face unreadable. Without blinking she commanded, "I'm going to make something for the two of us and after you eat and relax, you will kiss me."

"Uh oh-okay." I nodded and turned back around to quickly leave the room. Now I remember why I was scared of her. I sat down on the couch and booted up the console. Maybe she would forget about it after we talk during lunch?

Usually I would never have any time to play around. My brother Jonah would always hog it and my parents never cared.

I played a first person shooter, I was horrible at it. But can you really blame me for inexperience. I felt tempted to go into Jonah's games and mess with his save files. Heh that would be an asshole thing to do. I decided against it, not because I would feel bad for doing so. I wanted to avoid getting scolded once my parents and Jonah arrived. What a drag...

"Come sit down! It's ready!" Hannya practically rupee me from the sofa and sat me down. I rubbed my eyes and looked down at my plate. It was a decorative meal of Karaage chicken with lemon and Japanese mayo. A small bowl of rice too. I wouldn't have known what the hell it was if she didn't tell me. It looked good. I hesitated to start eating, what if it had some sort of aphrodisiac or something weird?

"Sorry I forgot to tell you, I'm not really hungry. I'll just put my plate in the refriger-"

Hannya gave me a cold unamused stare."You're going to eat the karaage I tried really heard on. I made it just for you." She clenched my left hand and smiled. I meekly shoved a piece of the food in my mouth, cringing at what it might do to me.

Hm, it was good. Better than what my mom usually made when she had the time to cook. "It's good." I put bluntly while eating another piece and dipping it in the mayo.

She made a little squeal and clenched her hands. "Great!" She continued to watch me eat until I said something.

"You should eat too right? You must be hungry, you haven't eaten anything today."

"So you do care," She sighed. Hannya began eating after brushing her hair away.

This was nice, more peaceful than the dinners I would have my family. Those usually involved a swarm of disapproval of my grades or what ever they could inspect about me. Hannya and I had a nice time. We talked about school, of course I was careful to not mention any problems I had been experiencing with teachers, and winter break.

"I might not be able to see you tomorrow. My parents will probably punish me if I don't show up every once and while to let them know I'm alive." She frowned, heh cute. "I would kill them but then I would have to move in with a relative- and away from you." Oh, not so cute.

"Heh, y-yeah. Just don't do that." I tensed up a bit, almost choking on my rice.

"If that's what Caleb wants." She smiled and rose to put her plate in the sink. "I'll do the dishes later, just put yours in the sink."

Weird, it felt almost like we were married. It was... kinda nice? Relaxing, even tranquil? Much nicer than when my family was home. Was it possible to find more comfort when with a deranged psycho than with ones own family?

I sat on the couch, flipping through channels to catch a movie. Hannya sat next to me and tugged on my sleeve. "What is it, Hannya?"

"The promise. Did you forget?" She inched closer to my face as I inched back.

"Well, I technically didn't agree to it" I answered her.

"Do you keep the peanuts in the cabinet or shelf?" She grinned, while inching closer.

"I thought we were having a good time back there..." I grabbed onto her shoulders to stop her from coming closer.

"Well, I thought I did good. I made you food, helped you relax, acted like the perfect future wife. Did I do something wrong Caleb?"

"Its not that it just seems a bit forced." Well not a bit forced, she was threatening to kill someone. "Did you forget what I told you when I decided to... date you. I said you couldn't kill anyone."

Hannya frowned and gave a heavy sigh. "I'm really restraining myself right now. I could just tie you with the rope like last time- but i would rather not do that." She stared at me. "I trust you to not run away from me. Don't break my trust, Caleb."

I let go of her shoulders and turned back to the TV. "Well if you're gonna do it, just get over with it."

"Didn't I tell you that you'd have to kiss me?" She looked confused.

"Don't look a gift horse in the teeth." I replied.

"What?" Hannya looked even more confused.

"I mean you should just kiss me while I'm consenting, I mean this is the first time I'd allow it. Might as well take advantage of the chance."

"Hm, ok." Hannya looked more flustered now. She tapped my arm and leaned in. By the time I turned my head around our lips had connected. It was a bit awkward, I admit. It was obvious it was her first time kissing, well the same for me. Despite that, it was cute. It must have lasted only three or four seconds. When she stopped, Hannah just looked at me. It wasn't like her menacing stare when she would get irritated, it was soft and nice.

I hadn't even noticed how fast my heart was beating, it felt weird.

Hannya started hugging me, her hands creeped around my back. Seconds later, she finally broke the silence. "I should get going now, my parents will be mad at me if I don't show up." She unwrapped her arms from my body. It felt kind of disappointing that it had ended. "You can throw away the journal. I had a great first date."

She placed on her shoes on her way out and just gave me a smile as the door creaked shut. Later that day I ate some cereal. It was horribly bland compared to what Hannya cooked for me.
