Silver Memory 7

My eyes opened and saw just the lit-up sky above. There was a huge weight on top of me. It was cold. The snow had piled up overnight. My body, as if on cue, began shivering violently against the cold temperature that surrounded me. I have to get up. I may be a wolf but staying under snow and such a cold temperature can be risky. I struggled to get myself free for a few moments before I could get up. Although there seem to be a good amount of snow piled up, it still kept on snowing.

Shifting into my wolf form, I quickly ran out of the cavern. Once out, I sniffed the air in order to find my way back. There! Quickly, my paws pushed against the snow propelling me forward to my destination. In a few minutes, I had arrived somewhere close to the edge of the forest into the clearing that surrounded the packhouse. I have to change before they see me like this. I turned around quickly and ran towards a tree. I shifted back into my human form and rapidly changed into my clothes again. My body was cold. Too cold. If I don't warm myself up quickly enough I could get sick or hypothermia. My body's temperature was way under the normal standard of our species average body heat.

I have to make my way to the packhouse. I ran into the house and started heading straight for the stairs. But of course, someone always has to intervene. From the corner of my eye, I could see Christina eyeing me. What is she doing inside the house?

Turning around, I met her eye and didn't bother hiding the fact that I was also eyeing her. Her stare held mine until Aleandro came in. I couldn't bother dealing with them. I have to warm up. So I just started walking back to the stairs until he called me, "Silver." Facing him now, I could see the curious stare he threw my way. Christina had taken her eyes away from me. Her head facing down.

"What," I responded back noticing how his stare grew more intense at my tone. "Come with me and Christina, you too. We have matters to discuss." No. I have to warm up. But if I avoided his request Christina would surely take advantage. Letting out a sigh of annoyance, I slowly trailed behind both of them, all the way to his office where I saw Beta Leo. Giving him a curt nod, I made myself comfortable on the chair.

"Recently there have been problems facing the frontiers of several pack lands and ours is no exception. Therefore, the information you have given us, Christina, is of great value. With this, we can continue with planning with Silver's guidance."

Hearing my name, I turned to him and said the most dumbass thing, "What?"

Grumbling under his breath, he let out an exasperated sigh.

"Pay attention. Your reason for being in this room is because of your experience outside with hunters."

"Oh yeah, I am sure that's the only reason..., " I said, smirking.

Suddenly, Christina stood up, walked over, and grabbed my arm, and threw me across the room. My head hit the wall and my body slid down.

"Be grateful that your ass has a place to be useful instead of wandering around and taking up space where it isn't needed," Christina yelled.

The alpha's eyes glowed gold as the statement left her mouth. The power and dominance he radiated could be felt and gave me goosebumps. Christina shivered and took steps back from me. I let out a growl escape my lips and stood up by myself even though Beta Leo had made an attempt to help me up. I wanted to make an injury in her perfectly good face, but I wasn't stupid. I couldn't overpower her in such a weak state.

"Christina, get out."

"But_" She was interrupted by Beta Leo, "Out Christina, or are you disobeying a direct order from Alpha Aleandro?" She scoffed and got out.

I stepped back before Beta Leo could touch me. "I'm fine." He nodded and stepped away. Alpha Aleandro stared at me curiously. "I'm fine." Alpha Aleandro stared at me for a bit more before nodding.

"Now, how may I be of use, oh great dark one?"

"You will be posted at the perimeter of this house were primarily children and those who cannot fight will be kept. Avoid any of them getting injured," he said.

Rolling my eyes, I waved him off as I went. "Roger."

But my body had gotten too cold. My legs had given out before I could walk out of the room. Crap. Hands were touching my face. "She's too cold, Alpha. We need to warm her up." I felt myself rise up with arms around me, seeming to carry me to the large sofa.

"Turn on the chimney. The fire will get her warmed up. Get one of the pack doctors in here, Leo."

Footsteps ran out of the office. The warmth of the fire was flooding my skin. "Why were you outside for so long, Silver? You are so cold."

Opening my eyes, "I was out taking a stroll, Alpha." He scoffed. "You are cold as ice. You spent a whole night out on a stroll?" I nodded. He let out a sigh. "Here, wrap yourself with this blanket. We may be wolves, but don't be stupid enough to freeze yourself to death. We still can get sick and die. Rolling my eyes, "If I die, it was because of my own fault and my own stupidity."

He shook his head. "You frustrate me, Silver."

"Good." Moments after, a person came in. "Doctor, her body is too cold. We have started to warm her up." The doctor nodded and started her examination. "It seems she got her body temperature back up. But please keep a watch on her. As a wolf, her body doesn't get sick so easily. So raising her temperature as soon as you noticed was a good move. I will say to keep drinking and eating healthy soups and foods for a bit. Watch her temperature for some days. Although it is improbable she will fall sick, I don't want to risk it by dismissing it so quickly."

"Thank you, Doctor, "Beta Leo said. The doctor nodded and went away.

"You may go too, Leo. Take a rest and we will meet later." Beta Leo nodded and went away as well.

"How foolish can you be? Or are all rogue wolves as stupid as you are?!"

"Alpha, I would like to let you know, I'm the smartest bitch you will find around. Now isn't that comforting to know? That you have the smartest rogue wolf as your mate?"

Alpha Aleandro growled lightly. With that, I walked out but not before turning around and giving a big wide smile.

"Bye, Bye Alpha."

Laughing, I went outside to the back of the house. Shivering against the wind, I went back inside and headed to my room. Turned on the hot water and close the door to the bathroom. Let's let it steam up while I go dry my clothes. Changing into some temporary clothing, I went in search of the laundry room. It took me a while before I found it. Might as well wash them too. How does this work again? I have gone into human establishments after dark to wash and dry my clothes but this washer looks completely different.

Shaking my head, I went back quickly. Headed into the bathroom and turned off the water. The bathroom had steamed up and was quite warm.

Let's stay here for a bit and figure out the washer situation after.

I stayed in the bathroom for about 15 minutes before having to head out. Feeling that I had warmed up. I went back to the laundry room. I could kill anything but can't even figure out a damn washer and dryer out?!

Clicking my tongue, I headed out and looked for Beta Leo. He should be somewhere around. Didn't Alpha Aleandro say something about meeting later? Maybe he is in the office. I walked towards the office but no one was inside. I turned around and knocked into Alpha Aleandro.

"Silver."

Should I ask him? His ass is going to probably rub this in my face. But I want to go outside...

"Alpha Aleandro, could you come with me?"

He stared at me and then nodded. I guided him to the laundry room. He slowly walked behind me not saying a word.

"Come in."

He nodded and entered the laundry room. He looked around curiously and then at me. Ugh, I can't do it. "Nevermind. Forget it." He shook his head but grabbed my hand.

"Come." He pulled me to the washer and dryer and pointed. "Ok put your clothes in. Then do this and this and done. Just push start and it will do it. It will ring when done. For the dryer, you put your clothes in and push this and this and then click start and it will do it by itself." While he said this, he pointed and explained everything while I followed what he said.

"Is this the only pairs of clothes you have?"

I nodded, "Yes. Since I am always moving, traveling light is important. I do go into human territory when I need to or when I had time enough to stay in a town and explore."

"What about when you needed certain necessities for yourself?"

I looked at him for some minutes. But he didn't turn his head away. Just looked at me straight.

"I would go into human territory and stay for the days I needed in a hotel. I could afford a room for days since I did find ways in the rogue world to make money."

He nodded and turned away. We stayed silent for the rest of the time the washer went on. Then it rang and he explained again how to work the dryer. He stayed in the room waiting for the dryer with me. Then the dryer finished and I took out my clothes. Excited by how warm they were, I hugged them and gave a sigh. Forgetting he was in the room.

He stared at me for some time with lingering curiosity in his eyes. Then shook his head again and walked me outside. He stopped to shut the door and turn my way. I nodded at him in thanks and went ahead to my room. But not before noticing that he had turned his head away and seeing his ears tinted red.

I smiled in accomplishment. Come on Alpha, fall, and when you do I'll be there to catch you and have you at my mercy.

Laughing I skipped to my room and changed. Then headed for the back of the packhouse.

I saw in the distance, the two children that I had seen, Liam and Erin. They have become wonderful children in this place. I started walking towards them and came to a stop when they suddenly turned my way. They seemed to recognize me from before. In less than 5 minutes they had both reached me.

"Why are you sad?" I stared at Erin. This child...I shook my head and said, "I am not sad. I am in a good mood." Though, as I finished saying that, Erin and Liam looked at each other and nodded their heads. Both of them quickly got by each side of me and grabbed my hands. They started walking forward while guiding me behind them. Confused and curious as to what they were doing, I didn't put much resistance at their antics.

We arrived at some house not far from the packhouse. It wasn't as big, like the rest of the houses, it couldn't be called small either. They let go of my hands and freely walked into the house. They looked back and signaled for me to come in. Once I did, they quickly close the door and looked at me.

Confused, "Hey what is going with you two? Is there something wr_"

-"mom."

I was shocked. I knew children were more perceptive about certain things but I just never thought they would recognize me. But I couldn't afford that they or any other find out about these children. So I quickly stood up and left to leave but they hurriedly came to stand in front of me.

Erin smiled, "You are our mommy, right? We know you are, right Liam?"

Liam nodded his head fast while hiding behind his brother.

"We could feel a weird feeling right here," he said pointing where his chest was, "and you smell like mommy from our dreams."

It's impossible. How could they know? They had been just babies when I held them for the last time. Unless our bond as mother and offspring reconnected. But even then, how possible is it that they know what this means? For the first time in a long time, I could feel my heart beating really fast. They must not know. Nobody should ever know.

I sighed.

"I am not your mom, sorry children."

"NO! You are our mommy we know! Why are you lying?!" Erin screamed.

"Child, calm down, I'm sorry. I am not your mom."

"Liar!Liar!" Erin continued to say, his face was now streaming with tears.

"I can't ...I.. sweeties. I ... we have to...," but my voice trailed off as I saw their faces. Heartbreak was painful. But how much will I be risking? They truly wanted me to admit what we knew. But the risks were too great. They wouldn't be safe with me outside these lands. Here I have been given a deal to stay but only for some time. But, could I really hurt these children like this.

"Shh," I said trying to comfort Erin, "It's ok. Come here."

How can I hurt them? They are my children. Those sweet babies have now grown up.

He walked to me with silent tears still going down. Liam stood behind Erin. "Come here both. I... Mommy is here. I'm sorry I said something mean to you. I'm sorry."

My heart ached and my eyes burned. I was hugging the one thing that I couldn't before. These are my children. My own worlds. I can't turn back again in fear. No more. I'm stronger now. I could defend myself and my children now. I wasn't weak anymore. No more.

"I will stay here with both of you. But you have to keep it a secret, just for some time. Trust me for now ok? I will keep you safe. Nothing will stop me from protecting you. Nothing. I promise."

They nodded. Although confused, they understood that I was here. Although, I still had to hide that they were my children, at least what gave me joy was them knowing about it. I nodded again and made a move to exit but stopped and quickly hugged them and exited their home afterward. But as I did, I bumped into someone.

Christina. She had a big grin on her as she snickered.
