Jack, Viper, Robin, Amelia, and Caroline said their goodbyes and decided to hit the road a little earlier than planned, hoping to stop seven hours into the drive and continue the rest of the journey the next morning. Jack took Amelia and Robin, and Viper took Caroline in her car.

" Thank you for letting me ride with you ,Miss." Caroline smiled

"Please, when we're not at work call me 'Penny'...and its not an issue." Penny huffed as rain started to trickle ever so softly,

" So how long is the drive?" Caroline asked

" Fifteen hours and twenty five minuets total, not including gas stops, bathroom breaks, and possible traffic." Penny Answered.

"So I would assume more like seventeen hours of driving?" Caroline smiled.

" Exactly, but about half way through, maybe in Jacksonville, We'll have to pull over and stay the night." Penny Explained

" So if it stays clear like this-" Caroline started,

" Then we should be there around two in the morning." They both finished.

" You're quick with numbers, Caroline." Penny Smiled.

" Thank you." Caroline chuckled.

" If you have any questions involving Me, Jack, The Mob, or how it came to be, I would love to answer them." Penny told her.

" I do have some questions, do you mind if I take notes?" Caroline asked Penny,

" Of course." Penny answered as she brushed her fading lavender hair away from her face

" Okay Then...Why did you start the mob and how did Jack get to where he is today?" Caroline asked honestly.

" I needed money,I built the mob to stay out of poverty, it was originally just going to be ran by me but then Jack walked into my life and became my second in command. He hadn't even know me a year and decided to be loyal to me; so I made him my second in command, bodyguard, and my best friend."Penny explained.

" So was Jack-"

" Employed prior to this? Yes. he used to be a hit man and was freelance for a while, about three years." Penny told her. " But he met me and everything changed that night, of course he moved to Louisiana for an office job but he quit about a year or two after he started working freelance."

Caroline nodded and took her notes, and was probably going to use them against everyone at the end of all of this.

" So what was wrong with Jack earlier?" Caroline asked softly.

" This week is just really hard for him; about twenty one years ago, His brother died.. they were really close apparently." Penny explained

" I get that, but he was in a different world completely, I was coming downstairs to go get some water last night and he was having a nightmare and talking in his sleep." Caroline told her.

" He has nightmares almost every night, Caroline, what happened to him in Vietnam was god awful and you have to understand that. It's a miracle that he's alive in general." Penny told her

" I know, but it was worse than usual last night, I could tell.. He was-"

" Talking about David, I know, I heard it too. I'm so used to it that it isn't even funny anymore." Penny told her

" What happened to David?" Caroline sighed as she quickly wrote down what Penny was saying.

" Jack's never told me the specifics of it, but he thinks its all his fault what happened. All I know Is that there was a land mine involved and David stepped on it, David heard the click and had Jack run as far as he could. Jack was still close enough to get hurt when David moved and caused the land mine to go off." Penny explained to Caroline, then shakily sighed, " Jack Is so brave, you have no idea, He doesn't want help though he needs it so badly. He came home from the war and then almost immediately started causing trouble for the police."

" That's Awful, So he's gone Twenty one Years without anyone to talk to and kept it bottled up?" Caroline asked Penny

" Very much so, I mean - He talks to me, 'Melia, Gray, and George about it but that's about it.." Penny clarified.

" I don't think I could do that.." Caroline sighed

" Not a lot of people could, but Jack can because he's strong." Viper explained to her " He basically carries the team, he keeps the police in check, and he might as well be the leader instead of me."

" How Long have you known him?" Caroline asked her

" well, I met him in '78 and its 91 now so, about 13 years." Penny told her

" How did you meet? was it -"

" by complete accident. I ruined a good dress in the process, me and a few close friends were going to a bar because we were celebrating surviving finals week in college and I wasn't watching where I was and I bumped into him. I ended up wearing a half bottle of beer for the rest of the night, and he ended up with a margarita on him. it was a complete accident on my half but we laugh about it all the time now days." She explained

" Wow.." Caroline chuckled dryly

" It gets better honestly; so when I bumped into Jack, I dropped my glass and he dropped his beer bottle. Since I was wearing sandals , when the glass shattered it shattered on my feet. now there's something I didn't tell you on this part of the story. I was only 18 when this happened. So what I was doing was very Illegal and I had a fake ID. -"

" Oh my god ,it keeps getting better.." Caroline laughed

" I know- also please don't drink illegally, its not cool and not safe- back to the story. " Penny laughed

" So it shattered all over my feet, and it was deep in my skin since Jack is so damn tall and it was flying faster. I wasn't able to just go to the bathroom and pick it out so guess who had to go to the ER- me!" Penny went on as Caroline jotted it down.

"SO!- Jack felt god awful for me and he insisted on taking me to the ER, and since I was Young and Stupid I was like - Yeah! even though Bundy and Dahmer were still around and sending a pretty loud message- I mean I was going to be in trouble either way." Penny sighed

" Who are Bundy and Dahmer?" Caroline asked, playing dumb.

"Two of the worlds most famous serial killers! How do you not know- who wait you're young.." Penny chuckled.

" I'm messing with you, I know exactly who Bundy and Dahmer are." Caroline told her

" Alright then, back to the story- So, Jack took me and I never told him that I was underage- and when we got there he insisted on making sure I was okay and all. He honestly wanted to pay for it but I wouldn't let him."Penny chuckled, " I had to call my parents and explain, how I got the massive drink stain on my dress, how I got glass in my feet, and why I was there. It wasn't pretty."

" I would guess that, but, how did you find each other again?" Caroline asked

" A Gala for some associates of the Carmichael Family, Jack had started working mainly for her, and I had been working on the Carmichael Family's weaponry. We caught up and when a fight broke out, he helped keep me safe and actually almost took a bullet for me." Penny explained. " I guess you could say our friendship started when he said ' I got your back', and from then on out we've been building the mob, kicking ass and taking names." Penny chuckled as Caroline jotted it down.
