The Date

"Chester, I'm scared."

"Don't worry. I've got you."

"I swear, if you make me fall, I will murder you."

"We're almost there."

Chester guides me a little more to our destination and stops.

"Ok, you can take the blindfold off now."

I pull the blindfold off and adjust my eyes. It is really dark now and breezy. The wind is softly blowing my hair, so I have to push it back out of my face. I was happy I decided to grab a coat for tonight.

Once everything is out of my face and I can see properly. I'm speechless.

It's so beautiful.

We are in the middle of this garden maze. There's a romantic dining set up and lights hanging all around us. It's quiet and secluded. The flowers around us are starting to bloom under the moonlight.

"Oh. My. God." That's all I could say.

"Do you like it," Chester asks. He's scratching the back of his neck and I can tell he's nervous.

"I love it."

He pulls out the chair for me to sit and takes his seat on the opposite side. A waiter comes out of nowhere.

"Welcome to PIER. My name is Duncan and I will be your server. Here are your menus and here is your bell. When you need anything, just ring the bell and I'll be here. Go ahead and take your time finding out what you want."

We are left alone once again to look through the menu.

"How did you find this place," I ask him in bewilderment.

"Well, you kind of scared me when it came to finding the perfect spot. I was searching since Wednesday. I almost had a heart attack when I passed by this spot."

"I'm sorry I scared you," I apologize and laugh.

"Don't worry. It was worth seeing you speechless." Now that we were sitting, I was finally able to look at Chester.

He has this boyish smile on his face and his eyes looked more blue than gray today. There's a red tint over his cheeks. He's wearing a button up, long sleeve shirt with a dark blue bow tie that matched his eyes and black jeans.

"What are you going to get? There's so many options," I ask Chester.

"I think I'll get the seafood platter, but the steak sounds good too."

"Ok. How about you get the seafood platter and I'll get the steak. We'll split both in half and then we'll be able to have both."

"That sounds good. Let's ring the bell." I pick up the golden bell and shake it like my life depends on it. In no time, the waiter gets back and we order our food. Chester gets a lemonade and I get a piña colada.

The date was very chill. We spent the whole time talking and nothing was awkward. This is the best date I have ever had. Chester is really sweet when he's not acting stupid.

After we were done eating, we order ice cream and went walking through the maze.

"We should make ice cream our thing because we always seem to end up in this same position with ice cream in our hands and walking."

"I think you just want me to buy you ice cream every week," Chester accuses me.

"Hey! It's not all about the ice cream. I like the walking and talking part," I tell him, punching him on the arm.

"Owww, man hands. I've missed you these passed couple of weeks, Sparrow," he says, pouting.

"I missed you, too. Scumbag."

"I don't like that nickname."

"Too bad. Scumbag."

"Repeat that one more time and I swear Spe-."

"Scumba-."

He pulled me from the waist and brings me close. His face is so close to mines that I could feel his breath. My heart started stuttering and it's hard for me to breathe.

"What was that, Sparrow?" I can't say anything. I'm frozen in place.

He started laughing and backed away. I was still in utter shock.

"You might want to close your mouth before you catch a fly," he states, pointing to my gaped open mouth. That knocked me back into my senses.

"You know what? Your a jerk," I tell him as I start to walk away.

"Awwww, don't be like that," Chester says, all whiny, but I know he finds this funny. He intercepts my path and pulls me to him by the waist again.

"Okay, no jokes this time," he says. His face comes closer to mines and I start to close my eyes, but then I feel something cold smash into my face.

"CHESTER, WHAT THE HELL!" Chester wasn't listening to me because he was too busy rolling on the floor with laughter. I try my best to wipe to ice cream off my face.

"You should have seen your face. I should have recorded that." He was getting off the floor and was wiping the tears from his face.

When he turned back to me, I lunged my ice cream right into his face.

He was frozen and ice cream slowly dripped down his face. I was trying to hold it in, but I couldn't. I started laughing hysterically.

"I should have recorded the look on your face. Oh, wait. I did!!!! Because I'm smarter than you!!" When he heard that I recorded it, he started coming towards me.

"Oh no you don't." I started walking backwards, but he just kept coming, so I started running.

"I'M SENDING IT TO EVERYONE," I scream to him while I ran.

"DON'T YOU DARE!" He started picking up speed. I was close to the car, so I tried to run and get inside, but Chester has the car keys and locks the doors.

"Ok, I'll delete, but on one condition," I tell him when I see no way out of the situation I got myself in.

"Deal," he says before even knowing what I want him to do. I walk up to him and wrap my arms around his neck.

"Kiss me," I whisper to him. He snakes his arm around my waist and moves closer. He leans his head forward and lands his lips on mines.

It was a soft kiss. A passionate one. It gave me butterflies.

It lasted for a few seconds until he pulled his lips from mines and laid his forehead on mines, and just stared into my eyes.

"Is that what you wanted," he asks me, his blue, gray eyes staring deep into mines.

"Yes," I tell him, my smile growing.

"So, you going to delete the video?"

"I already sent it to everyone."
