Chapter: Break Up

"Did you call her?" Hyun Soo asked as Do Yun came near the counter after looking at his phone a while.

He wasn't able to listen to the phone call recordings cause as soon as he tried to listen to a customer arrived and rushed

"Ye-yeah I did, sh-she won't come today."

Do Yun didn't look at Hyun Soo even for once while she tried to make eye contact with him. He looked in his front furrowing his brows in between.

"Ah! Okay then, we should start the cafe."

"H-hmm." He stuttered again and welcomed the customer to had arrived just now by bowing down.

"Strange! Too much strange!" Hyun Soo whispered to herself as he noticed Do Yun.

"The man who always looks straight into my eyes, who-who always talks to me coldly and confidently has all of a sudden become a miserable guy. Something is wrong." She kept mumbling.

"Ms Hyun Soo..." He said and she turned towards him.

"Hm?" She asked as she looked at him.

"Umm, should I serve today?" He asked her so politely, but his eyes were somewhere not as lit as it used to be in the last few days as our observant Hyun Soo had seen them.

"Y-yes, okay."

"Thank you." He said and took the tray towards the table of the customer with their orders in it.

"Ah! Now I get it." Hyun Soo said as she kept looking at Do Yun who wasn't quite cheerful among the customers he used to look until yesterday.

"Last night...what happened might have been a...break. And I guess...as a friend-"

"Friend?" She questioned herself and made a face as she had just now tasted lemon.

"No!" She exclaimed with a light whisper.

"As-as a colleague."

Her face brightens up as soon as she came with the correct word as she emphasised the term colleague.

"Yeah, as a colleague." She nodded quickly.

"I-I should console him. Even if I've never dated anyone, I can at least...give a move on speech to someone who has suffered a break-up."

She nodded her head as she rested her arms on the counter and bent a bit towards it still, looking at him,

"For him at least, I should do it. Look how pale he looks. Ooff!" She exclaimed within herself.

Do Yun unaware of Hyun Soo's intention kept working. He actually, wanted to be away from Hyun Soo cause he wasn't able to listen to the call recordings. He still, don't know what did he blabbered to her when he was drunk. Side by side he was highly in grief and remorse after his yesterday's meet with his parents. He left his mother, who wanted him to come back home. He made her cry and let her be there outside in the cold. He didn't even hug her goodbye, he was quite disappointed within himself.

It was this afternoon lunchtime when finally they closed the cafe for a while.

"I'll go outside for a while now." Do Yun said and was about to leave when Hyun Soo called him out

"Mr Do Yun."

"Ye-yes?" He said as he turned around.

"Umm, I don't feel good while eating alone so...can we eat together?"

"Pardon?!" He was surprised as he hadn't seen that coming.

"Please." She said with a pouty face.

Do Yun sighed as he had not many options left. He nodded and said,

"Okay then, would like to go out or should I-

"Go out! Go out!" Hyun Soo quickly exclaimed.

Do Yun nodded and opened the gate. He motioned her to enter outside first. She came out and a cold wind blew making her shiver.

"Hew! It's cold outside." She exclaimed as she rubbed her bare arms.

"I didn't realize, wait lemme get my overcoa-"

She said and was about to go inside when she saw Do Yun coming from inside holding her black overcoat.

"It's cold outside, so...wear it." He said again coldly and walked further towards the main road.

Hyun Soo looked at his back and smiled as she felt touched but then she sighed feeling dismayed and said,

"How can someone break up with such a sweet guy? Tch!"

"Ms Hyun Soo?" He called her out.

"Yes, coming." She said and ran towards him.

"What would you like to have?" Do Yun asked as he kept looking into the menu thoroughly.

"Umm, anything you would like to have."

Her reply made Do Yun look at her for some instances, he nodded and looked back into the menu.

"What would you like to have sir?" A honeyed voice made its way to their ears.

They both looked up to find a girl standing near their table or if precisely near Do Yun.

She was wearing a short dress black and red checkered dress with a logo of the restaurant printed on her chest in which they've been sitting for a while now. Her hair was tied in a high bun and she looked quite flattered over Do Yun.

"Umm, we will start with..." Do Yun started to order with a bored voice.

"seaweed rice rolls?" He questioned and looked at me.

I quickly nodded and proclaimed,

"Already told ya, whatever you want to have."

"Okay then," Do Yun nodded.

"And...some...dumplings, meat and vegetable rice bowls."

"How many servings sir?" She asked again.

"Each dish, two servings." He replied still looking at the menu while the waitress wasn't able to tear her gaze apart from him.

Her stare irritated Hyun Soo and she ended up coughing which, obviously made the waitress come out of the daydream she was living in.

"Umm, any-anything else sir?" She asked further while stuttering.

"Make it quick."

"Okay, sir." She said with a big smile as if she was quite happy to hear that.

Hyun Soo found it quite amazing how he ignored the stares of the waitress like it didn't even exist. And while thinking all this she deep down whispered,

"He must be too loyal to his ex-girlfriend. Tch! How cruel that woman would be."

Waiting for their order to come, Hyun Soo sat looking here and there or on her phone screen while Do Yun leaned backwards in his chair and kept looking down at his fingers which were interlocked with each other. All that time he kept thinking about his mother which made his heart hurt even more.

After some minutes Hyun Soo broke the silence which they had been maintaining all this time,

"Actually..." She said and Do Yun looked up towards her. His eyes were normal but still looked widened.

"I have...something to...say." She completed

Do Yun nodded and said,

"Go ahead."

"I've been lookin-"

"Here's your order, sir." The waitress butted in.

But to Hyun Soo' surprise this time the waitress was different and she seemed way more interested in Do Yun than the earlier one. She moved her eyes towards the door from where the waitress had come and she could see the waitress who had taken their order standing there in a corner in dismay.

She chuckled within herself for her bad luck, while the waitress on their table placed each dish with oh! so! care and delicately like it was her last treasure.

"Enjoy eating, sir." The waitress finally bowed down and went away.

It was so surprising and laughable how all the lady waitresses were ignoring Hyun Soo like she never existed there.

"You..." Do Yun tried to speak

"Uh?" Hyun Soo quickly looked at him.

"Yo-yo-you were saying something." Hyun Soo sudden behaviour made Do Yun stutter.

"Ah! Yes, I was. But l... let's eat first." She said and Do Yun nodded.

He didn't speak or argued much with anyone, his nature was quiet, shy and anguish sometimes.

"I've been...looking at you since yesterday." Hyun Soo began talking while Do Yun kept eating.

"You look a bit down and...it has been bothering me. Actually...how should I start this I...really don't know, but you see it's something I should talk to you as I am your colleagues and we've been working together for almost like a week now so..."

"Just say it directly, " Do Yun interrupted.

"Pardon?" Hyun Soo replied as she had been debating within herself about how she should talk to him about this topic when she has known him only for a week now.

"What you want to say." Do Yun completed.

"Ah! yes, sorry."

He nodded and started to dig in the bowl again but decently. Hyun Soo took a deep breath and finally spit it out.

"I guess your break up didn't go well."

And Do Yun choked on his food making him cough hard. He after coughing for some more second managed to mumble,

"What?!..."
