"I'm not sure." He said until then they both had finished their meals and so..he kept his bowl aside and let his arms on the table looking down thinking about Hyun Soo's question.
"She has always been very strict about picking a part-timer since I came to her. She has always scolded every part-timer as if she never wanted to keep them at work and she took interviews of them and even fired them for minute mistakes."
"I see..." Hyun Soo also kept her bowl aside and kept her arms on the table.
They both were sitting on the floor in front of each other on the small wooden table placed just in front of the three sitter sofa.
"Hmm." Do Yun nodded.
"Then...what do you think?... Why did she keep me?"
"I don't know..." He scratched his neck lightly and supported his cheek with that very hand.
"But there's one question I want to ask." He added after a minute.
"What?" She asked as she looked straight into his eyes.
"How do you know about the accident.... from my...childhood."
"Ah! That! Ms Sang Hyeon told m-
"Really?!" He interrupted as his eyes widened.
"Hmm.." She nodded.
"Why?"
"No, that...she never open ups about anyone like this. So...its a bit surprising that she told you all this."
"Really? Then..what should I consider myself...lucky?" She asked.
"Maybe?" He added.
She nodded slightly thinking deeply and suddenly said,
"Would you like to have a drink?"
"But.."
"Ah! Don't hesitate!" She said as she waved her hand in front of his face.
"But-"
"No no." She said and went towards her fridge.
She took out two cans of beer and threw one towards him as she opened hers.
"Mhm...nice." She said gulping a huge sip of beer down as she complimented Do Yun at his quick grip on the can.
She sat on the sofa folding her legs and motioned him to sit beside her too.
"But...why do you live alone?" She was welcomed with this question as Do Yun sat beside her.
Hyun Soo looked down and here there cause she didn't want to ruin this happy moment of her life. She cleared her throat and looked at Do Yun who was already looking at her. His gaze bounded her to answer and so she started,
"My dad died when I was young, mom when I was in college first year and my only sister lives in another house cause she doesn't like me much."
In one breath she gave Do Yun the whole gist of her life. She sighed and averted her gaze the confidence and happiness which she had earlier in her eyes disappeared.
"I'm sorry." He said formally as he understood Hyun Soo's emotions.
"No, it's fine." She shook off her head and looked back at him with her glittering eyes.
She kept staring at him until he asked,
"What?"
"No." She shook her head lightly.
Her eyes glittered as she kept looking in his eyes. At this moment she wanted the world to stop so that she could admire this man sitting in front of her, she wanted everyone to stop so that she could be the only one looking at him right now though they were the only one there.
She didn't know why she felt this way for him but still, she loved it now that he wasn't irritated of her stares, she loved it now that...instead of being furious he questioned about the reason behind her stare. At this very moment, she loved everything present there even the empty can of beer inside her fist.
"But Ms Hyun Soo..." He said lightly.
"Hm..." She barely whispered, being lost in his eyes.
"It's late I...should go now."
"Yes." She whispered again.
"Wai- YES?!" She sat upright as she tore her gaze apart.
"Ah!" She exclaimed as her eyes hurt.
"What happened? Are you fine?" Do Yun asked being considerate.
"No just...my eyes hurt."
She felt it a bit weird that though she didn't blink for some seconds her eyes hurt like they had been opened for more than a minute. Wiping out the tears she exclaimed,
"Now?!"
"Yes, it's quite late and I should-"
"But you won't get any bus from here right now, it's already past 11 pm and taking a cab is quite expensive." She pointed the clock hung on the wall just above the wall.
"But-
"Don't tell me you plan to walk up to there."
"No, but-
"Then stay here!" She proclaimed out of nowhere.
What?! Are you crazy?! What did blurted out just now? How can you ask someone to stay at your home? Hyun Soo cursed herself while Do Yun stared at her with widened eyes.
"I'm sorry." She said and looked at him sincerely.
"If you want you can go but...I'll advise that it is quite cold outside and it won't be a nice option for you to walk up to the next bus stop in those thin cloths."
"It's fine if you say so..."
"But I guess I should go. It isn't very decent for me to stay here." He said as he stood up.
Why? She mumbled within herself. She was feeling dizzy now that the beer had taken over her all consciousness. Why can't he stay anymore she thought? She wanted to talk to him, she wanted him to stay a bit here so that she could understand him a bit more, cause this was the first time when he wasn't scolding her.
He bowed a bit to her and kept the half-emptied can on the table as he walked towards the door. Here Hyun Soo feeling all furious emptied the Do Yun's half-filled can in one go. Now she is feeling even dizzier and she kinda loved it.
She followed Do Yun as he walked over to the shoe shelf and was about to wear his shoes when,
"Mr Do Yun!" Hyun Soo whispered and was about to fall but Do Yun got the grip of her arms quickly.
She was almost asleep as she had drunk more than she could handle. Usually, she drank only a can or less than that but today she drank more than enough making her sleep while standing.
"Ms Hyun Soo." He jerked her a bit as he kept his grip tight on both of her arms.
She was still standing in front of him while her eyes were closed just because Do Yun had a hold of her.
"Are you fine?" He asked as he jerked her again only to get no response.
He sighed as he realised that she was already asleep. Somehow making it up to one of her rooms he made her sleep on the bed and covered her gently with the cover.
As he came out of the room closing the door behind him he sat on the sofa. He was in a dilemma if whether he should leave her house without informing her or should he stay here night long as she had asked him to.
Thinking about all this he leaned back on the sofa and suddenly a memory of his conversation with Hyun Soo earlier struck his mind...
"I'm sorry." He said formally as he understood Hyun Soo's emotions.
"No, it's fine." She shook off her head and looked back at him with her glittering eyes.
She kept staring at him until he asked,
"What?"
"No." She shook her head lightly.
And as Do Yun looked at the girl sitting in front of him he snapped his finger lightly without thinking anything else making the time to stop...
