Chapter Ninety-Two: Best Friends

I am awakened by the light touch of a finger tracing my brow line, a hum vibrating from the back of my throat. My eyes stay closed as my entire body wakes, the heat emanating from my best friend's body making me flush. The sound of rain pelting on the windows has me appreciating the warmth under the covers, making me wish I could slip back into a dreamless slumber.

The sound of her giggle encourages me to open my eyes, a smile spreading across my face when I catch her looking at me with a smile of her own. A magnificent smile.

"Hey." she whispers, her eyes dancing with an emotion I struggle to place. Not knowing how to act, I bury my face in the crook of her neck. Her arm curls around my naked back, and she starts lightly drawing patterns with her fingers.

"Hey." My voice is small, betraying me. My body feels aflame, an unknown sudden shyness creeping in, making me want to crawl within myself.
