The Room In The West Wing

Disappointment crosses the maiden's face as she read the paper that was on her hand, a huff escaped the maiden's lips, her brows sloped downwards with her squinting eyes scanning the paper for a second time. She was sitting on the stairway of her bed, both her hands preoccupied with the piece of paper. She certainly did not expect herself to attend afternoon classes for she made sure to click in the morning class when she enrolled, not that it was bad just something unexpected and new, after all, she was an early bird.

However, she can't deny the fact that she was indeed disappointed yet nothing can be done because at the end of the day everything was free. She did not pay for anything so instead of being such a brat for something that's done wouldn't it better for her to just accept it? Walking over to her study table, she set down the piece of paper on the table, took her flip phone, and checked if there were any missed calls there were none, she let out a sigh before took the keys of her dorm and got out.

When she left the building, immediately the sun's rays glistened in her face, she shut her eyes for a bit, holding up her hand to block the light then she tucked her hair behind her ear and walked away with a smile plastered on her face.

Today was her chance to look for a job since it's Sunday she has all the time she can ask for, walking into the school she was met by several students wandering around the hall. Inside the hall she felt left out for all of them looked rich...however the lady couldn't help but notice something unusual in their aura. Some were scared, nervous, excited. It isn't strange for them to express such feelings considering that maybe they're also new like her, but the lady couldn't shake the feeling that something was abnormal in their aura. They were looking at something, they were basically circling the thing that they were looking at but she paid no mind to them.

She needed to look for a job and seeing the lady with fiery red hair made her think 'why not just work here?' And the first thing that came to mind was the library. Her working in the library was an easier job compared to her last jobs and if she can take that role wouldn't it be for her benefit? She'll be able to work and study as well, you can say that it's a win-win situation for her.

However, finding the library was harder than she thought it could be but then again this school isn't that small. She heads in around the corner in the west, straight away awe flashed in her emerald orbs. There weren't any students in the place, and what greeted her was the most magnificent stairs she has ever seen.

It was in the center of the place, the stairs were made of grey marble, and two roman designed columns supporting the gold banister. It was luxurious! Making her way to the first step, her heart hammered inside her chest, her curiosity itching, if the stairs were this gorgeous what's more in the place it's leading to? Stepping unto the first step of the stairs made her felt unqualified nevertheless she continued stepping one at a time, her eyes focused on the beauty.

She went to take one more step but failed miserably for her foot detected no platform, looking up she saw something that exceeded her expectation. The floor was made of deep gray porcelain tile, silver, and gold crystal chandelier hanging on the white ceiling with its beautiful patterns that were made of gold illuminating the room. This alone was just the hallway of the place she was in.

The lady gawked, her jaw dropped for a second time, her eyes were sparkling with so much awe, her feet gliding to the platform, both her hands covering her mouth for the lady felt that she wasn't in school, it felt as if she went into another dimension.

Her feet strolling to the marvelous room and as she continues her eyes caught something making her stop in her tracks, a door. A large one compared to her she's a cricket, it was a wooden double door with gold lining, and what's more, is that it was slightly open. Again, her curiosity was itching, she knew it was wrong to invade privacy but she couldn't help herself but peak. Fortunately, no one was inside. As she was about to go in a loud voice echoed throughout the room, making her freeze in the spot, ever so quickly she ran back to the stairs. When she got down a sigh of relief escaped her lips.

As she walks back into the hall that was full of students, a thought crept into her mind. 'Why did I ran away as if I was committing a crime? Well, maybe I did...' The lady shrugged the thought, she had enough of wandering around for the day, for now, she needed to find where the library was as she was walking through the hallway she saw a lady that seemed to be her age, the maiden moseyed to her, lightly tapping her shoulder. The woman looked back to her with the biggest smile plastered on her face "Yes? Do I know you?"

"Hi, I just wanted to ask. Where can you find the library?"

"New student...Nice to meet you. I'm Alicia Jeffrey."

Alica extended her hand, waiting for the lady to grasp it when she did "Nice meeting you as well. Everett, Everett Heinsberg" Alicia smiled brightly at her and her being respectful smiled back, while they were interacting. Alicia felt a sting on her back then to her head as she felt arms snaking into her waist, suddenly she was tugged into someone's chest. "Sab...I hate it when you do that, stop hitting me for no reason. Let me go."

"Why are you such a mood killer? I was having fun!" Alicia rolled her eyes, the unknown woman let the lady go before facing the new face around the school. "And who are you?"

"Oh! I'm Everett Heinsberg."

"Sabrina Bridges. Her girlfriend so y-"

"Correction: Girl friend. Sab, this girl is new so might as well show her around." Sabrina groaned but nodded. As the three of them head to the library, they've asked each other what year they were in and found out that Sabrina and Alicia were a year older than she was. When they've arrived at the library, once again awe shone in her eyes.

The school library was much bigger than the house, it was triple the size of their house as her eyes scanned the room, the lady remembered how different the style of the room was compared to the room where she wandered. "Alicia, do you know about the room upstairs around the corner in the west wing?" Sabrina gasp as Alica stared at her with wide eyes, her mouth slightly open as if she wanted to say something but nothing came out.

"Everett! Why were you there? Didn't you know that no one was allowed there except for the student council?" Sabrina stared at her confused face as Everett shook her head no. She was new, what do they expect?

"Did anyone saw you?"

"No." Alicia and Sabrina sighed of relief after hearing the maiden's words. The two motioned the maiden to follow them, they both sat down in the chair and waited for the lady to sit when she did. Sabrina wasted no time, saying: "You haven't heard the rules? Haven't you?"

"Of course she hadn't Sab! If she had why would she be there in the first place?" Alicia retorted as she groans at her friend while rolling her eyes at the stupidity she was spouting, Sabrina glared at her way before facing the maiden.

"First things first: Never ever go in that room again, You're lucky you're alive. Forget that ever happened, also forget the existence of that room. It's for your safety anyway." This had caught the attention of the female. What was in that room that got them shaken? And what's peculiar is that they were not telling her the reason why.

"Why?" However, none of them replied a reason why she had to stay away and not just stay away but actually forget the existence of the place. And if they've given her a warning without a reason, wouldn't that just cause her more to be curious about the place? Nevertheless, Everett shut her mouth and motioned them to continue.

"That's all. We're gonna go then." Sabrina practically dragged Alicia out of the room, she waved at them before slumping her head unto the table. Their warning made her mind remembered the room more and she was sure she'll never get the picture out of her mind, after all, it's human nature. The lady sighed with annoyance as she sprung to her feet and dragged her feet to the circulation desk of the library.

There she found the librarian, the woman behind the desk smiled at her, returning it she asks the lady for the library assistant job which the lady responded with a smile, saying it's vacant. A spark of joy radiated in the female's emerald orbs as the lady informed her that there were not many students in the school that looks for a job since most of them were wealthy.

"Is it okay for you to start tomorrow?"

"Yes, it's okay! Actually, I was really hoping to start tomorrow." The woman chuckled at her cheerful personality about the job, it was refreshing for the woman to see for a child to be so determined to work for it was something that can only appear in Hawthorne High for a short period. "You'll be working as early as seven o'clock to twelve pm. Is that alright with you?" the woman asked her, concerned about her opinion about the job.

"It's perfect!" The woman smiled at her once more but her shoulders stoped down as she stared at the girl in front of her with furrowed brows "Your salary consists of thirty dollars every hour"

Everett's mouth gapes open as she asked the lady once more if she had heard her right. The woman made the same response, making the woman gasp in joy. That was a lot of money, it was more than enough and all she needed to do was to assist the library's needs, she needed not to work three jobs a day just to earn the money she needed to feed her family, now she has the chance to buy whatever Ethan loves. This was a wish come true!

When she arrived at her dorm. Everett jumped in glee, as she ran to her study table, she quickly dialed the number of her auntie but ended it immediately when it was ringing for she thought a better idea. She will surprise them and so she dialed Joe's number for she cannot help but tell her loved ones, he answered immediately, saying " Rett? Did something happen?"

"Yes! Joe something happened. I got a job!" The man over the phone chuckled, he can imagine the lady's face sparkling with so much joy and he was happy that she was informing him such things, it made him feel special.

"Congrats, Rett. I knew you would, there's nothing you can do!" The lady ran to her bed, and plop on it as they continued speaking to each other. As they were speaking the woman felt drowsy and without a warning, she fell asleep. "Rett? Hey...did you fell asleep?" The man chuckled when he heard her light breathing through the phone, it was adorable. It felt as if she was by his side, sleeping so peacefully.

"Talk to you again Rett. I miss you...I love you." With that the man ended the call, letting the woman rest peacefully in her new dorm.
