"What do you mean, they can't use it too often?" I don't truly believe it. The spiders are still going around above us not being able to find us.
"What I mean is. They use almost all of their power to do that, the radius is enormous and they also sense the people who are afflicted with it. This is a very rare species even in the continent of animals, the giant hallucinating rock spiders. They are here for a long time and since this place is for the powerless prisoners they always have a good amount of food to sustain themselves." The explanation put the spiders in another light, they do this for survival huh… Killing us the people who could be a threat to them even without dark power. Is that what we all need to do? We need to kill no matter who and no matter how many just to survive? Is this what God meant for us to become? Or is even god… God?
"I think they are gone," Estel said while his voice was a little higher than before. He was probably already climbing the spike, I should also move on. While I tried to go up a thing appeared in my mind. There are lots of bumps on this spike that I could grab, there weren't there before though. I started grabbing them and pulling myself higher doing everything to escape this dark hell as fast as possible. Those small bumps feel real… Weird. Like they are covered in some kind of tallow that makes it harder to grab them. It still didn't matter much as I was still able to go up, very slowly but still managed to get up to the peak. It got a lot lighter once I got there, all of them were visible. Estel and his silk hair, Finn and his lack of hair, and Marcus without horns.
"Where do we go now? We still can't find them." The risk of them coming back earlier is still there.
"Let's just continue but this time let's go left," Estel answered and in the same instance, he started moving to the left.
"Do you think we will find them in this place?" The question left my mouth and after a short moment of silence, we saw something.
"Isn't that Matthew? You can see his beard very well even in this darkness." Marcus spotted him in this pretty dark cave, even Estel wasn't able to spot him from the reaction on his face.
"I don't see as much as you do but I'm sure you actually see him, we need to speed up. After finding Bog we will still need to find a way out." And that task won't be easy. I added that in my head as I'm completely sure that it will be the hardest task. We still need to find a way to leave the cave… Of course.
"That way." I could see his finger pointing somewhere far in the dark, somewhere where only he could see. We then went further into this swallowing void trying to meet Matthew again and reunite us together. After a couple of minutes, minutes not seconds. Even my eye met Matthew's motionless body in one of the cones. "We are getting close, 50 meters to go guys." Everything until now goes very smoothly, it's very weird… Is that what's called fair? The thing that the woman told me… In the woods some time ago. The bad will get repaid after some time, not knowing how long it could take to be repaid. Maybe now it's the redemption time? Who knows…
We got to Matthew, he was in that one single cage. hanging without any other around him. Why were there no cocoons around Matthew? Only around him… Is that a trap? Or just a coincidence? We won't know until he wakes up.
"Can you wake him up as well? Please." I asked Finn about doing it but this time he looked a little out of the mood.
"Where Bog?" He questioned but there was no answer to it. Only the wind that blew through the cave could be heard.
"We will find him. After we get Matthew he is the one we are going to search and we will until we find him." The small Goblin smiled as Marcus finished the sentence. It seems as if he wasn't very energetic about it but if not for Finn we wouldn't be able to do anything.
He agreed to help Matthew wake up. Again the same thing as what happened with Marcus and Estel but the only difference was that he woke up almost instantly. Is it because of his genes or because of his mind? His eye opened instantly after one single poke of the shallow arm.
"What! What is going on! Where am I! Is this hell!?" He was wiggling around in the cage with a lot of effort, he was close to screaming as well which would be very dangerous but the 'color' of his voice didn't allow him.
"Hold down man." Marcus put his pointing finger on his mouth. "We are in the spider's lair, don't shout. You are closed in the nest, don't panic." He gave Finn the flint knife and then he gave it to the dwarf. "Cut the strings." He added and looked around for a second.
"It will take me some time with those hands." Matthew nodded and started doing the work. We all just looked around the whole place scared of the spiders coming back. Finn was trying to find Bog with his gaze, he probably also sees a lot better than me or Estel or even Marcus. If he finds him somehow that will be our last go and then we will just run away. Or try at least.
Around a minute later the first string was cut down, a minute. That's a little longer than it took me.I understand why though, his hands were too short to make good movements in the cage. Another minute or so passed and the next string was cut through. This moment of uncertainty went on for all this time, any single second felt like an eternity. Unsure and afraid, those spiders could come back any moment which would end in a very… Bad way.
He did it, he cut the cage! He wiggled out of it, again it took him longer because his entire body was in the sticking web. But after a great amount of struggle, he left the cone.
"Thanks, guys. So what is it again? Where are we?" He huffed each sentence completely out of breath. Marcus slapped his forehead.
"Ah… We are in a cave with, big, spiders. Do you get it? Big spiders. A lot of them and we were able to break out of the cages and then we just started going around. And everything with the help of this little guy." Marcus quickly explained and pointed at the small blushing goblin.
"So we are in a nest of big spiders?" He asked probably to feel better or worse, I can't say exactly which one.
"Yeah, they also have hallucinating properties" Marcus quickly added and Matthew's face went pale.
"Hallucinating spiders? Aye, we are focked." Are those the dwarvish genes? Did they finally awaken? Or is that something different, I've never seen anyone speaking this way it sounds very weird.
"Indeed. Until we find Bog we can't leave as well, we need to repay the little guy that big favor." Estel again is very worried about doing something for Finn, even if he doesn't want to find him because of being nice. He has a debt to repay at this point, the savior of our miserable lives.
"Oh right, that guy. We really have to find him. He could help us with killing thos tings." Matthew added while playing at Estel's hand almost.
"Let's move away from here quickly, it looks pretty weird that only you are in such a large space. We should just go as fast as possible now." Marcus explained and started climbing between those rocks, we just followed. Another couple of minutes passed and there were no traces of the dark skinned man for us known as Bog. It's almost pitch black here but our eyes got used to the darkness and we were still able to see some things.
His skin is so hard to spot between this pitch black space, it will take us a little longer or maybe… More than we can actually spend. If it will take too long, we will just have to abandon him… I don't want to do it but if it will take us more than we should. A day or two, or more time. How will we look Finn in the eyes… We need to find him. We have to, for the man that saved us. We have to at least try to find Bog, he is much more important than we now think… Finn is the one who saved us and now we shall grant his request.
