Moon

We went up to a flat high oblique hill where you can vividly see all the stars and the moon shining brightly.

"Careful" Aaron holds my hands as I nearly fell to the ground.

Blythe groaned, "I wish someone would do that to me too" we laughed as Aaron lets go of my hand, reaching for hers instead. Blythe giggled as she slowly takes his hand, walking ahead of me. Making me feel like a third wheel.

"Oh, we're here" Aaron announced as Blythe and I awe in how this place is beautiful.

This place is owned by the family of Blythe, but they rarely go here. They have their own haceinda and now it's a tourist spot. Supposedly, many people has to be here now but their family put out a sign that they shall not enter. Exclusive, amazing.

We're the only ones here. And we're waiting for the Geminid Meteor Shower, We lay down in the grass together and he effortlessly lied down beside me.. I noticed everything on the earth around me: the ant hill, the unformed rocks, and even the faint outlines of the tree trunks. He leaned his head forward when he whispered softly in my ear to look up. That was the first time I ever really appreciated the stars. I remember being overwhelmed. I could not possibly count all the glittering sparkles that illuminated the heavens and glistened softly next to the moon. At that moment I tried to reach out and grasp one, but my arms were not long enough so I asked Aaron.

"Can you get me a star? My arms can't reach them" I begged him. He laughed, I could not get him to promise.

"You're like a kid, Ella" Blythe chuckled to which I pouted.

"Aim for the moon, Lou, because even if you miss it you'll end up amongst the stars." I did not understand exactly what he meant.

"I'd choose the moon, of course"

"Really?" he asked to which I nodded.

Blythe questioned, "But why?"

I laughed lightly, "All these stars..Yet I choose the moon..Because its light..its beauty, always stands out..Especially on my darkest days" I smiled, "..Like you.." in a lower voice.

"Woah, that's deep" Blythe admired.

Aaron seemed to heard me and so he asked me, "Like who?"

I shrug as I giggled.

"Oh! Here it is!" Blythe shouted as she points to the sky. Suddenly thousands of meteor shower that look like a small grain of sand came pouring in. I remembered hearing Blythe shouting to make a wish. But all I could focus on was the shooting stars.

I wished for many things. Successful career, my mom to be finally..finally be proud of me and..For Aaron to get better. I look to my side, and there was Aaron. Watching the stars so focused to not miss this chance. He's so wow and so attractive all of a sudden.

"There so beautiful"

"Yes.." Aaron stared at my face, "..Beautiful indeed.." he continued.

I blushed, "The stars, Aaron. Stars" as I look above. "Ah—Yes, of course. I was talking about the stars, yup..." he chuckled.

And since that night I have come to cherish this sentiment. Amongst the aggravation and mishaps of day-to-day life, we never stop to appreciate the little things. We strive to attain our goals, but by working so hard to achieve them, we become blind to the beauty in the world around us. It is important to work hard and have a dream to strive for, although we often fail to see that it is not always a disaster to fall short of our goals. The moon may be the first thing we notice when we gaze into the nighttime sky, but the stars shine just as brightly and project as much light.

Since that night, I have appreciated the little things that came and my shyness slowly faded. Aaron and Blythe still teases me with cards that have stars, amused by my naive notion that Aaron could really reach into the firmament and grasp a star for me. Devoutly I draw back my curtains and gaze up upon the heavens. They appear more beautiful each night, and I often wonder if I am the only one gazing upon one particular star at that very moment. Each night as I stare, I realize that each one of us is like the stars, and each plays an integral role in creating the solar system. Each one of us shines brightly because of our unique talents, but it is when we come together that we light up the black night.

"I thought you liked the moon more than the stars" Aaron began.

"Oh, but I do"

He scoffed, "It seems like the opposite"

"There's a saying that..We all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun." crossing my arms, for the wind blows coldly.

It's winter now, after all.

He laughed lightly, "My, you've become wiser"

"You should rest now. We're going to start practicing real hard. The recital's coming close" he added.

I nodded, "Yes, I'll do that. You rest too" he smiled as he nodded in response when he walked away from my house.

"You're in a good mood" my mom sarcastically said. We've been quite good these days. It's pleasing yet terrifying.

I gave her a smile, "Oh, it's nothing" as I walk upstairs to my room.

My mom now is in a good mood, but sometimes she won't even look me in the face and she'll get angry over the little things. Mood swings.

"I thought the cellist will be coming now?" Blythe asked Sir Ice.

"He is"

"Is he thinking he's some famous dude just because he's from an international orchestra? He's late.." Blythe groaned as she complained.

"Minus points?" I laughed.

she nodded, "minus points"

Suddenly, someone came running to the door.

He went to his knees, catching his breath.

"I'm sorry I'm late..I uhh..I was called for something earlier by the conductor"

Sir Ice smiled, "It's okay. You're just late for 10 minutes. Now, everyone.."

I slowly recognized him as he fixes his clothes and hair.

"This is..Jax..Jax Gray..He'll be your cellist for your recital"

My mouth open wide as I finally recognized him, "Jax!" I shouted.
