Chapter-17

The night was silent. None of us uttered a word. He was getting back into his real self and I was still comprehending the events and making myself believe that it was not a dream. Somewhere deep in my heart I still believed Aiden was the act not the character of Lee. Maybe he just likes these eras because he can be himself. And if that is true, I need to make this stupid prince believe that Lee is far better than Aiden.

The sun was up and shining bright and Lee was walking by the door of the cell impatiently. "Why are you so restless", I asked. I got an angry look as the answer. I shrugged my shoulder and sat down quietly in the corner. He was the one tiring himself for no reason, why should I be bothered. "Can I ask you something?", I asked. He looked irritated but he nodded nonetheless. "Does Lee actually exist in this era or is it the additional character to fit you in?", I asked. "He did exist but he died early in the past. I just manipulated the life span to fit in. But once we get what we want they will forget this and there will be no mention of Lee in any manuscripts or history books of later centuries.", he said. I nodded. "Do you know what?", he said with a tiny bit of excitement. It felt as if a part of Lee was back. I looked up suddenly and he got the hint of what he did. "What?", I asked with a little excitement too. "Nothing.", he said in the same old monotone showing disinterest and started to walk again.

"I am curious now", I said in a little whining tone. I looked at him hopefully. He sighed and stood next to me. "I will tell you something interesting. Right now, the time for which we are here and playing our parts, all the manuscripts and history books are being manipulated themselves and they will go back to normal once we return.", he said. He was trying his best to hide the excitement but it still showed up somehow. "Woah! That's so cool", I said full Macy style. "Tone that down a bit, will you?", he whisper yelled. I nodded and stayed quiet for a while. "Sometimes I feel like I read something in a book but when I go back to recheck I can't find it. So, it means that I was not dreaming about reading it, it was actually there but vanished later?", I asked. He nodded with a light smile. "Why are you smiling?", I asked with a slight smirk. "You are too excited at such a small phenomenon.", he said with a light laugh. I looked at him and smiled. He realised he was laughing and stopped suddenly. He went to the door of the cell and he had his arrogant face back again.

After half hour the head came back followed by the king. The door of the cell opened and the king entered. I stood up and Lee came and stood by me. I bowed but Lee didn't. The king nodded and he nodded in return. "I hope you two now know how to behave!", he said loud enough to show the seriousness in his words. We both nodded. The head was standing behind the king with a huge smirk. "Let them out.", the king said and turned around and left followed by his guards and the head. The head smirked at us again while leaving. The two guards left behind opened the gate and we walked out. As soon as I stepped out, I saw the cell in front of ours which belonged to the now-dead head's wife. All the events flashed in front of my eyes and I could feel myself tearing up again. Before the tear could roll down my cheek a hand entwined with mine. I looked up to see Lee holding my hand. I was taken aback because now I knew it was not Lee but Aiden. He gave me a reassuring smile and pulled me with him and we walked out of the cell hand in hand. Even though his hands had the same warmth a part of me still wasn't sure of this being his real self. That part of me was bugging me again and again about this being an act. And all through the small walk with our hands entwined together my heart was beating fast and my mind was fearing of this being just an act.
