Drew wrapped his arm around Sam and gave her a tight squeeze. "I'm alright, but we still need to find Terry." He said as he got up off the floor. "We can't trust that demon or whatever it is, that's for sure. If we keep playing her game, we are going to end up dead."
"I found the barn while I was looking for you, but I ran right by it in a rush to find this shack." Sam said. "Maybe we should check it out?"
"Sounds like a plan, Terry might even be in there." Drew replied. Drew picked up his walkie off the floor and his head cam. He put the camera on his head and started to walk out of the room before turning to Sam. "You coming?"
Sam hopped up and exited the shack with Drew. "Okay so the barn was south of here." Sam pulled out another compass, since the one Drew had was busted.
"You staying with me this time?" Drew teased.
"Yeah, but hey I was doing things!" Sam protested. "I was monitoring the situation and I made this." She pulled out a squirt bottle with liquid inside. "This is a little surprise for the faceless princess if she shows up again." Sam smiled.
"What is it?" Drew asked, curious as to what the fluid could be.
"Holy water." Sam said.
"How did you get holy water?" Drew was confused.
"Well we had water in the van and there was a ritual to bless it on the tablet." Sam smiled again. "It should give her pause at least."
"Sam, I think holy water only works if it's blessed by a priest?" Drew replied.
"That's just an old wife's tale." Sam explained. "I mean how does a ritual know if you are a priest or not? No one must simply believe in the ritual in order for it to work. Normally the only individuals who believe are priests, but due to our current circumstances I am a believer myself."
"Makes sense when you put it like that." Drew said. He could hear the faint footsteps that he heard before as the two of them walked towards the barn. "I think she's here." Drew whispered. "Seems like she doesn't want us going to the barn."
"That's where we need to go then." Sam said. The temperature around them began to plummet causing all the hairs on their bodies to stand on end. The faceless girl phased into existence in front of Sam, but she was prepared and pulled her squirt bottle out to spray the demon. She pulled the trigger, but nothing came out, the water had frozen solid due to the frigid temperatures. "Well plan B," Sam shouted as she started running towards the barn.
"Plan B?" Drew shouted back, as he watched her runaway, he figured out what she meant and quickly chased after her. A loud echoing of a child's laughter filled the air around them. The demon was toying with them. They were nothing more than flies in a spider's web, and the spider was looking to feast. The demon was phasing closer and closer to Sam and Drew grew concerned he would lose her. He thought back to his time in the forest and shouted the first thing that came to mind. "Lady of the Forest!" He yelled.
That phrasing caused her to stop chasing Sam and focus her attention back at Drew. She phased directly in front of him and blocked his path. She did not attack or move towards him, instead she just stood there as if she was studying him, waiting for him to say something else. He was willing to try anything at this point, so he decided to say what he really wanted. "Please leave us be!" He shouted at her. With that the demon vanished and the temperature returned to normal. Drew stood there in disbelief that she actually listened to him.
Sam turned around to check behind her and saw Drew way in the distance standing alone. She picked up her walkie and radioed him. "Drew, where did she go? Who is the lady of the forest?" Sam asked.
"She is." Drew replied. "I will explain later I promise, but for some reason after I called her that and asked her to leave us alone, she left. I don't know how much time that gave us but it's something." Drew put his walkie down as he approached Sam. "So, are we close to the barn now?"
Sam pointed her flashlight at the barn and the light reflected off its wall. "Yeah it's right there." She said. "We just need to find a way inside of it now, looks like the doors are barred."
"Sam with everything we experienced tonight I thought this would be the easiest thing for you to figure out." Drew sighed. "Follow me." He said as he walked towards the side of the barn. When they arrived beside it, Drew stretched out his arms and legs and rolled his neck around popping it. "Alright so what I learned tonight is all of these buildings are falling apart. The wood is rotten and full of decay." Drew gave the wall a swift kick causing a large portion of it to collapse and reveal an opening. "Just the slightest force is enough to make it break." Drew said with a smile as he walked into the barn.
Sam followed closely after him and the two of them shined their flashlights around the room. In the center of the room stood a pedestal with a silver chalice on it. Hanging above the chalice was Terry, being suspended in the air by chains. They both smiled as they illuminated their friend with their lights. "Found him!" They both shouted in unison.
"I bet that chalice is the focus." Drew said as he walked over towards the chalice and Terry. He examined the chains with his light, looking for how they were secured and how he could free Terry.
The chains were connected to the four support columns holding the barn's roof up. If they tried to remove Terry by force the columns would crumble and the roof would crash on their head, most likely killing all of them. The chains were being held in place by a massive iron nail on each column. "Well that's a problem." Drew sighed.
"What is Drew, can we get Terry down?" Sam asked.
"If we remove one of the chains the other three will have a sudden increase in weight and cause a collapse." Drew explained. "Give me a minute to think." Drew tried to think of a good solution to the problem, but he would only come up with a crazy one. "There's no way around it, we have to let it fall. What matters is how we let it fall. If we remove two of the chains on the same side that will cause stress on the opposite side, making the collapse happen there. We are going to have to pull the chains the moment we release them so that we pull Terry out of the middle and over to our side."
"We need to get that chalice too." Sam said as she walked over to the chalice. Terry had been slightly cut and his blood had dripped into the chalice, filling it. "Drew!" Sam yelled when she saw the blood. "The chalice is full of Terry's blood!"
Drew shined his light over there once more. "Doesn't look like he is still bleeding though." He replied. "That small of a cup is nowhere near enough blood to cause death so some worry, they take more blood than that when you go donate."
Sam picked up the blood-filled chalice and dumped its contents on the ground. She did not want to walk around holding a cup filled with Terry's blood. She threw the chalice to the other side of the room, where Drew was standing. "Hey watch it!" He yelled as he dodged the incoming chalice.
"You were supposed to catch it!" Sam complained as she walked over to her assigned chain.
"Through it at my chest if you want me to catch something." Drew explained. "It landed at my feet, so I dodged it."
"Let's do this." Sam said as she put her hands on her chain. Drew did the same for his.
"On the count of three." Drew yelled. "One… Two… Three… Pull!" The two of them freed their chains and then pulled with all they had simultaneously. Terry's body was flung towards them from the center of the room and the Roof fell as predicted on the side opposite of the trio.
Sam and Drew rushed to their fallen friend. Same checked him for a pulse and smiled. "He is alive Drew!" Sam shouted. Drew attempted to loosen the chains around Terry's body. He was able to because of the loose chains they had freed earlier. After a few minutes they had completely freed Terry from his chains, but he was still unconscious. "Let's call to him like I called to you!" Sam suggested. "Terry! Wake Up Terry!" She yelled.
Drew joined in and yelled as well. "Come on buddy! It's time to wake up! Come back to us Terry!"
After a minute of constant yelling from the two of them Terry finally opened his eyes. Sam cried tears of joy and reached down to hug him. "Welcome back Terry!" She said.
"You all would not believe the shit Terry has seen!" Terry said as he got up off the ground. "First I was in some cave and some invisible dog bear thing tired to eat me! But Terry ain't nobody's meal so Terry got the hell on up out of there! Then Terry was running through the forest and found this creepy lady drinking tea and eating biscuits. She kept trying to get Terry to drink and eat but Terry don't take food from strange women in the forest, no sir, not after the last time Terry did that. Then Terry made it to the mountains and there was this big troll like thing, Terry has been running from that thing for hours. Then Terry heard your voices and followed them back here." Terry looked around at his surroundings. "Just where is Terry right now anyway?"
