The third and fourth day of the camp passed by without any incidents, however on the fifth day, they were taken by surprise. The kids were enjoying observing the Pokemon and playing with the Pokemon they became friends with when out of nowhere it started to rain heavily. The teachers gathered the children from the fields and the nearby forest where they were allowed to observe in the outer parts but forbidden from going into the deep areas. They returned as a group to the camp and entered the cafeteria for shelter.
Misty looked around, "Leaf, do you think everyone made it?"
Leaf, "I see Duplica and Ritchie."
Misty, "Green and Zoey too. Glad they are safe, so that leaves....."
Leaf, "We'll find them.", 'I hope!'
Green walked towards them, "I can't believe it rained out of nowhere."
Zoey nodded, "Yeah! And it was such a bright morning too."
Ritchie, "I think we are missing someone."
Duplica looked around, "Oh no!"
Misty ran up to one of the teachers, "Miss Gina, Ash and Gary are missing."
Miss Gina, "What? Are you sure about that?"
Duplica, "Yes, Miss Gina, we are all here accept the two of them."
Professor Oak who had joined them with a few assistants holding warm drinks heard what they said, "What did you just say?"
Miss Gina, "Professor two children are missing. What do we do?"
The Professor held the two volunteers, "First thing first, you two are not going out in the rain."
Blue, "But Gramps!"
Samuel reprimanded sternly, "Ash and Gary may not show it much, but they are smart and I'm sure they have found shelter by now. You need to calm down, rushing in will not help you all the time."
Samuel then spoke kindly, "I know you are worried but you can't do much in this downpour. I'll get my Milotic and Alakazam to search for them, don't worry."
Red nodded, "Alright, we'll listen to you."
Meanwhile Ash and Gary had found a shelter under a tree. Ash sighed, as this seemed like a familiar scene but for the love of sanity, he couldn't remember. Gary moved closer to the back of the shelter away from the cold rain pouring outside.
Ash, "And to think we were almost friends with the Oddish."
Gary pouted, "The rain was a spoilsport."
They both sighed together before looking up at the dark clouds that appeared out of nowhere. Ash wondered if it was the work of a Pokemon, he remembered a movie where a powerful Pokemon created a storm to test the trainers he/she had invited. He shivered remembering he or rather the Ash in the movie died because of the fight. While Ash miraculously recovered in the movie, he himself didn't want to die, that's a terrifying thought.
Gary nudged his arm, "Ash look!"
Ash looked at where Gary was pointing at, "Oh! Hello, do you guys need shelter from the rain too?"
The Rattata, Pidgey, Oddish, Butterfree, Caterpie, Weedle and Venonat looked at each other before turning to the two of them and nodding or chirping a yes.
Ash smiled, "Come on in, it's cosy in here and if we cuddle we won't be cold."
Gary, "Is that a good idea Ash?"
Ash pointed at the sky, "It's getting dark it'll be cold soon. The two of us could cuddle but I don't think it'll be enough to keep us warm, if we have Pokemon with us however."
Gary moved inside more as the Pokemon joined them and made themselves comfortable, "I guess so..... WOAH! I never realized how soft and nice Venonat fur is."
Ash, "And this Rattata fur is smooth, no wonder you didn't get wet much."
Gary, "Butterfrees wings have different shades in them."
Ash pat Caterpie, "Caterpie's fur is so soft."
Gary grinned at his friend, "I think we have new friends now, Ash!"
Ash smiled at him, "We do!"
The Venonat who had made himself comfortable between the two boys chirped back happily at the compliment. The Rattata bobbed her head in acknowledgement while Caterpie, Weedle and Butterfree made themselves comfortable around them. Pidgey was perched on Ash's shoulder fast asleep already.
Ash giggled, "Well we are definitely not going cold tonight."
Gary had a content face, "Who knew cuddling with Pokemon would be so warm? When I start my journey, I'm so cuddling with my Pokemon every night."
Ash bit back a squeal so that he didn't disturb the Pokemon, "That would be so cool, it makes you want to go on a journey straight away."
Gary grinned, "Yeah... You know they are probably worried about us. We will no doubt have a earful lecturing tomorrow."
Ash held his hand and grinned, "We'll get lectured together then."
Gary laughed, "Pffffffffffft, yeah, what's the worst that could happen?"
Gary leaned further back on the base of the hole on the root of the tree only to fall backwards instead. Ash and the Pokemon looked at him alarmed and worried.
Ash, "Are you okay Gary?"
Gary, "I'm fine.... Huh... I didn't realize this was hollow, hey Ash check these out."
Ash looked at where Gary was pointing only to gasp, "Pokemon eggs.... Wait, does that mean the mother is somewhere around?"
Gary looked at the Pokemon, "Do you guys know who lives here?"
But the Pokemon shook their heads in negative, they were just as bewildered as the two of them. They lived in around these parts ever since they were born and they didn't know any Pokemon who had eggs.
Ash rubbed his chin, "How strange! You don't think they were abandoned here, do you Gary?"
Gary's smile fell, "Considering the fact the Pokemon who live here don't know who the eggs belongs to, it is possible."
Ash looked at the four eggs sadly before getting a determined expression, "We can't leave them here. If no one will care for them then we will. Although I honestly don't know anything about caring for Pokemon eggs. Ehehehehehe!"
Gary sweatdropped, "Good thing I have been reading about it then. The most important thing is to keep the eggs warm."
The wild Pokemon nodded at that before the Butterfree, Venonat, Caterpie and Weedle moved to the eggs and gently brought them to the middle of the cuddle pile. Gary grinned at the Pokemon before laying down on one side and Ash laid down on the other side. The Pokemon settled around them as the rain poured outside in a comfortable rhythm lulling them to sleep. Unknown to the boys however, they were being silently observed by some creatures who disappeared after they were satisfied with what they saw.
