New Life

The next day, the two boys woke up in a room at the camp. They had been found by Alakazam around night time sleeping with the eggs and the Pokemon. Ash rubbed his eyes as he looked around him, the wild Pokemon that had spent the night with them were missing and Gary was waking up as well.

Gary, "Good m'rning! Ah! Are we back at the camp? Guess they found us."

Ash nodded, "The eggs are in the incubators too."

Gary looked at where Ash was pointing. On the table were the four eggs they had found the night before. The door opened and in walked Blue and Red, carrying a tray with food on it.

Blue noticed they were awake, "Good morning! I see you are both awake."

Gary, "Morning Blue!"

Ash, "Good morning Red!"

Gary, "How much trouble are we in?"

Blue poked his brother's forehead, "A lot baby bro. You scared us you know."

Gary held his head, "Sorry... I wasn't.. We weren't even..."

Ash nodded, "Yeah! We didn't mean to be separated promise."

Red sighed, "We know... By the way, we are a little impressed."

Blue smiled, "You actually found poke eggs in the wild. Speaking of wild, the wild Pokemon followed you boys home. They wouldn't let grandpa's Alakazam bring you guys back without them."

Ash, "Huh? Where are they?"

Red shrugged, "They are outside right now, eating food."

Blue held a bag, "Go clean up, we'll wait for you here."

Gary got up, "Right!"

Ash grabbed the bag holding the items they needed, "We'll be right back."

After they had finished brushing their teeth and cleaning themselves up, the young boys joined the older ones for breakfast. They talked about what had happened the day before and how they got separated. Red was exasperated when he learned that Ash was following an Oddish and Gary was following Ash and the two had unknowingly wandered off further into the woods than allowed. The Professor greeted them once they had finished their food and left the room. He took the younger boys and lectured them on being more aware of their surroundings.

Samuel then sighed, "On a happier note, the eggs you found are healthy and has no anomalies."

Ash perked up at that, "Really Professor?"

Gary perked up too, "That's a relief. I was worried about them."

Samuel gave a smile, "Just be more careful in the future."

Ash nodded, "We will Professor, we're sorry."

Gary looked sheepish, "Yeah, we didn't do it intentionally."

Samuel pat their heads, "You are still in trouble I'm afraid. You will have to do extra chores as punishment later. For now your worried friends are waiting for you. Go meet them!"

The two nodded as they went towards the field where their friends were gathered and waiting for them. They welcomed the two back with a group hug and questions about what happened the day before. Ash grinned and started to explain how he had started following an Oddish he saw and accidentally went deep into the forest. Gary explained he had followed Ash to make sure he was not hurt and also because they had to stick together as it was the rules.

Misty sighed, "At least you didn't go looking for trouble."

Leaf snickered, "Trouble found them however."

Ritchie gave them a smile, "I can't believe you found poke eggs."

Zoey, "Those are rare in the wild."

Ash grinned, "Yeah I guess."

Gary huffed, "We still don't know how they ended up there though."

Duplica bit her lip, "You really think they were abandoned?"

Gary, "Considering how and where they were found, I wouldn't be surprised."

Green pat his shoulder, "Welp, it's there loss, now those eggs are yours right?"

Ash nodded while Gary grinned, they would take care of the eggs and they had the feeling their friends would keep tabs as well. The group soon separated to join the activities that were going on for the day, which included helping in cleaning up the fields and water ways. The rain had caused many berry plants to bend over in the fields and the broken branches to gather in the water ways making the water types disgruntled. Once the lake and the fields were cleaned the water and grass Pokemon became more friendly to the children, although the older water and grass types kept their distance, the younger ones were more open and playful.

The children laughed and played delighted with the friendliness of the Pokemon. The wild Pokemon that had followed Gary and Ash joined them in the fun although they mostly stayed close to the two boys more than the others. Green was in love with the Butterfree and wanted one in her team in the future. The praise and interest had the Butterfree blushing, she had heard many traveling trainers show a lack of interest in her kind because they were bug Pokemon.

Leaf, "Hmmm, Butterfrees are cool but I prefer Beedrills more. They are more terrifying."

Misty paled, "Uh..... Yeah, they are."

Ritchie, "Are you okay Misty?"

Misty nodded, "I'm fine, Beedrills just scare me a bit."

Zoey, "You don't like Caterpie, Weedle and Venonat much either although you have no problem with Butterfree here."

Misty looked away, "I have a bit of bug phobia okay."

Ash pat her shoulder, "It's okay Misty, I have a small case of claustrophobia myself. Riding on anything smaller than a bus makes me queasy."

Duplica, "Man, that sucks!"

Zoey rubbed his chin, "I am a little terrified of ghost types. Of course Professor Oak's Gengar is really cool but.... you know."

Leaf, "We get it, it's like Misty's fear of bug types."

Zoey nodded, "I hope I will be able to get over it."

Gary gave a wary smile, "At least you guys know what you fear and are working on it. I know I'm scared of letting my Grandpa down. Aside from that I'm not sure."

Green gave a chuckle, "I think we are all afraid of disappointing our parents."

Duplica, "Can't argue against that."

Misty laughed, "No, we can't!"

The next two days of the summer camp passed by without any more incidents or children going missing. The older Pokemon that belonged to the Professor and the assistants made sure to help with that particular endeavor. The night before it was time to leave they had a camp party together and shared contact information with the new friends they had made with promises to either write or call each other.
