Brianna

I found her. Or rather she found me. The Gods seemed to have heard my unsaid plea and threw her in the path of my quest.

Though seeking an Advisor was a great experience, it had to come to an end. I learned a lot about the female vampires who attended Redwood University. Most of the girls including Summer knew the art of professionalism. The way they kept themselves and handled certain situations was amazing. My mother would have been in awe of their personalities, whether it was for show or not.

Even Summer's behavior was a sight to see. She was quite the perfectionist. For her, everything was expected to be done in a specific order and time frame. Which seemed to have irritated some of the girls when she found fault in everything they did. Especially because she was human. Majority of the time she got death glares or scoffs. I was sure if most were equipped with eye beams, she would have died already.

With all said and done, Summer was annoying yet loyal. A quality which would take her further than any of the other girls. And, it was also the reason she was a perfect match with Ashley.

In all honesty, I felt I was somewhat biased with my decision. From the day I met Ashley, I had taken a liking towards her. She was more like me than she knew. There she was stuck at a crossroad, indecisiveness clogged her every decision. Even so, she was an amazing person. Her senses were even more accurate and hyper than my own. The fact I could utter an entire speech in the morning and she was able to repeat word for word in the afternoon was phenomenal. On the plus side, both wolves and vampires knew and adored her.

Therefore, I was very pleased with my overall decision. Summer was an advocate for the humans, while Ashley advocated for both vampires and werewolves. The handful of witches could be handled by me.

Summer dropped her lunch tray on the wooden table. The two cupcakes and three sandwiches jumped but landed back on the plastic frame. Her brows knitted together, creating two lines between them. She next flopped down on the seat while Ashley came up behind her. Her facial expression was no different than Summer's. Instead of collapsing in the seat like Summer, Ashley sat with grace.

I thought today was supposed to be a happy day.

"Would someone want to tell me who died?"

They shared a glance before Summer stated, "You have been summoned by the Wolf Prince."

"Wolf Prince?"

"Kyle," Ashley provided.

Of course, it had to be him. "What does he want now?"

Ashley's expression got gloomier while she studied her fingers.

"You have sinned, committed a crime of all crimes," Summer exaggerated. Her head now on the table.

What could be the crime of all crimes?

I plucked one of the cupcakes from her tray. I never knew why she ate so much for a small human. Where did all the food go?

Ashley nibbled on her bottom lip.

"Would someone tell me what is going on?"

By the end of the question, another tray slammed down on the table.

"The student body is concerned with your final decision on your Advisors," Brian filled in as he used me to scoot over.

"Student body?" I enquired while I made space for him to sit.

"Yeah, vampires and werewolves," one of Brian's friends joined. He sat beside Ashley and made space for his other friend.

"You've made some decisions that neither of those species like," his other friend confirmed as he squeezed into the vacant space.

"Sorry, we have invaded your space girls, but this was urgent," Brian apologized.

"Ah, these are my Advisors." He waved his arms in front of the two men. "This is Eric," his arm lingered in front of the guy next to Ashley. The guy's black hair was styled in a jersey. The back cut lower than the front. "And Drew." Brian's hand moved to the fellow next inline. A welcoming smile on Drew's. Light brown hair covered his eyebrows, advertising his red eyes. If anything he seemed to be the nicer of the two friends. "Sorry, it took me so long for an introduction. I wanted you to keep focus on finding your Advisor first."

"Right, which I did. So, why is my decision a big deal?"

"Well, you chose to have a vam-wolf, whose family pledges to the wolves, and your other Advisor is a," Eric's eyes scanned Summer. Disgust prominent in his stare. "human. Unfit to defend or give superior species advice."

Ugh, God. This again. What was wrong with these people?

"I don't get it. Why does who her family pledge to have to do with her being my Advisor?"

"You're a vampire," Ashley spoke up. "My father is a werewolf. He pledges to his Alpha and my mother crossed over to be with him."

"So," Brian answered, "if she's your Advisor, she is defiling her father and Alpha —"

"And the werewolf community," Drew added.

"—to pledge to a vampire," Brian finished. He bit a chunk of my stolen cupcake. "And we all know about her," he waved the cupcake at Summer.

"Oh, my God." My palm covered my face.

This was not happening. I had put so much effort into this Advisor stuff. Why me? What did I ever do to deserve this?

A warm palm caressed my shoulder. I peeked at Brian grateful for the sweet gesture.

"Maybe this was a mistake," Ashley grumbled.

Her words caught my attention. My hands fell to the table.

There was no way I was going down without a fight. She needed me and I was not going to leave her at her crossroad. We were going to show our parents and these kids we mattered.

"No, you did not." I stretched my palms across the table. "We are going to that meeting and you guys are going to be my Advisors whether those jerks like it or not."

They nodded and slid their palms in mine.

"That's the spirit." Brian shoved the rest of the cupcake in his mouth, while he and his Advisors shared a glance. No rebuttal was spoken.

By the end of the last lecture, I was more than pumped and ready to handle those jerks.

I mean, who the hell did they think they were? Summer and Ashley were already having trouble with who they were, they didn't need the whole school population dictating who they should be and what they should do. They should have the right to choose for themselves.

My books were disposed of in my locker. Then it was slammed shut. A couple of passersby stared in my direction while others gasped. Grabbing my bag, I headed to the front of the school where I met the two potential Advisors.

"Are you ready?"

None responded with words but nodded.

I was led across the football field — at the back of the school — through a flowery path to a medium-size building surrounded by the forest.

Brian and his Advisors were among a small group of vampires. Upon seeing me, he drifted from them and walked towards me. Both his Advisors attempted to follow, however, they stopped when something was murmured in their direction. An uncertain stare sat on Eric's face as he obeyed.

"I can take it from here, guys. You two can go on ahead," I advised Summer and Ashley.

Ashley lifted one of her brows. "We can't just leave you."

"Yeah, here other wolves and elites are present. You can never tell what could happen," Summer added.

And, they took on the role of bodyguards. Hmmm, to what end did their job stop.

"Okay, why not stay ahead of me. You both can still have an eye on me."

"We don't have eyes in the back of our head," Summer rebutted.

No, crap.

A sigh slipped past my lips. "I know but I'll be close by. It's not like I'm going to Mexico. So, can you two stop being argumentative and just do what I say?"
