Summer glanced at Kyle, who was now walking next to Cascada again. A frown crinkled her face at Kyle's icy expression.

"I guess, we'll never get the answers we need," she resigned.

We went through the white gate, leading into the garden. Silence accompanied us on the rest of the way. Our journey came to an end behind the fountain in which the portal was.

Like before, Kyle stepped away from the group. He braced a palm on an invisible wall, chanting a spell only he and the wall heard.

In the middle of Kyle's private conversation, everything went still. The soft breeze from earlier was no more, and the tranquilizing sound of the waterfall ceased.

I frowned and scanned the garden. My friends were chatting away, oblivious of the changes in the atmosphere. All except Kyle. He had his head cocked to the side and a frown on his face.
