Kyle

"Pardon me?" Mrs. Kelly inquired.

The puzzled stares didn't faze the Guardian angel. He smiled. "I would like a duel with the God. If I win, then it means I'm better equipped to train the young guardian. If he wins, he'll have to train him."

I shook my head. "Nope, no duel."

This was a setup. I couldn't teach the kid and I didn't want to. Why couldn't they understand that?

"I'm not leaving without that duel." The angel crossed his arms across his chest. "And, I'm not training the child without it either."

Everyone eyed me. I shuffled on my feet.

"You know what?" Colin came forward. "I bet I can take him. Let me do it."

"Sorry, bud," Haldeman, the guardian, smiled. "This is between me and the God."

Aunt Lucile looked at me. "Kyle?"

My gaze slid over Griffiths to Brianna. They all wanted me to fight. Could I fight, though?

'You can fight, but you don't have to win,' Wolfie advised.

True.
