Best of Me...

Celestina's POV

This, this annoying asshole. Seriously, what is his problem? And just because he is the football captain, the boys are supporting him and laughing at me. I mentally pout. I don't want seem like a mad person pouting at him.

"Why, is that gonna change your knowledge about football?" He said mockingly.

"You know, my first impression of you was not clear enough. Now, I have decided. You are a dense asshole." I emphasized the word.

He seemed to be fuming with fury while his teammates laughed at me. The boys were pleading from their eyes to stop. Nopity, nopity, nope. I have already crossed the line. He is the one who hit with a football and testing my patience. "Are you a sexist? Can't girls know about football? Is it compulsory that only dense assholes know about football?"

I heard a collective defensive 'hey' from the team. I deadpanned them. "You laughed when I mocked your captain and laughed when he tried mocking me and failed terribly. Pick a side."

Responses I got were not great. Just rolling of eyes. "See, a comeback should suffice. But you guys didn't bother trying...Are you guys dumb?"

"No." They answered in sync. Asshole face-plamed himself.

"Okay, now we have established you are dumb and dumber." Pointing at Asshole and his teammates.

"They are dumb alright. They are still talking to you, right?" He looked annoyed.

"And you are still their captain." I stated the obvious. See, that's how it's done. Learn from me. Kidding. Why is he being shallow?

"How would you know that?"

"Those two are supposed to be my friends...Idiota." Pointing at Jake and Derek.

"Hey, Celeste. Right? I'm Alec. Co-captain." He smiled at me genuinely. He put forward his hand to shake it. I just stared at him. Asshole hi-fived him, to not embarrass him.

He smirked at me. "Did it hurt?"

Okay, he is asshole 2.0.

"Stop, don't even try flirting with her. Unless, you want broken face for your football match. Hey, Luca." Carlotta said, standing beside me. When did she...? Never mind, I was busy glaring at the blue-eyed asshole. Who is Luca?

I looked at her, confused. She knows the football team. "Jake and Derek are there in the team. And Luca is a friend of mine. And Alec is the constant asshole." They smiled at her. Alec feigned mock hurt. "That hurt me, Moreau."

She rolled her eyes. "She is new. And her name is..."

"Hot Blondie." A familiar voice spoke up from behind.

"Non capisci inglese?" I whispered to myself. (Don't you understand English?)

"You didn't answer me back in the class. It's rude. Did it seriously hurt?" He asked me, smirking knowing that I was annoyed. He is quite shameless. Not matter how much I mocked him, he kept blabbering.

"What is up with this pickup line these days?" I murmured. It caused Carlotta to laugh. I looked at her, annoyed. She was stifling her laugh, failing miserably.

"Nope, it hurt when I crawled from hell to see your face."

"You are pool of oceans that I get lost into." These are the times I hoped I had brown eyes.

"You know what. Go to that corner." I pointed near a secluded area. He looked at it too. "Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it."

The entire football team snickered and I saw asshole smile slightly. His blue eyes twinkling with amusement. Carlotta couldn't keep it in anymore. She broke out laughing causing a chaos of laughter echoing in the corridor.

"Luke, continue your banter later on. We are going shopping." Carlotta said. "You are coming, right?"

"I have a choice?" I asked her, surprised.

"Nope, you are still coming with me." She smirked. I rolled my eyes.

We waved them our goodbyes. Well, Carlotta did. I just flipped the bird at them. Still, idiots are laughing.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's just say, I'm never going shopping with them. Like never ever. That's not true, y'all. They will drag to the mall or kidnap me. It's been 5 hours and 48 minutes since we entered the mall.
Lucy was literally silent, the entire shopping spree. Nopity, nopity, nope. She was the most excited. I thought she was the mature and shy type. Guess I was wrong.
'That's all what you have been during your time of residence in this city.' The mind stated.
Where was I? Ah, yes. I'm dead. Long gone from the surface of earth. I didn't even get a restroom break from them. They have dragged to 23 shops already. Yet, they have bought 2 dresses each. In total, 6 dresses out of 23 shops. After trying out approximately 47 dresses in each shop. Just 6. I'm proud.
They don't seem tired at all. Lucy wanted to go to the bookstore and they accepted. And walked away, talking about the next mall. Wait, there is an another mall.
I rushed behind them, cursing in every language I know. I'm not getting lost in this unfamiliar place. They happily chatted away, leaving me alone.
I entered the bookstore. It was not what I expected. Cute looking vintage bookstore. I don't read that much of books. But sometimes, it's an exception.
Everyone went separate ways. Why the hell not?
I decided to get a book to read as I had nothing to do in my house. And I'm stuck for quite a long time. Might as well embrace it.
I had been here for almost an hour. I didn't even realize. I thought I would buy one or two books but ended up buying 6 turquoise coloured books.
Lucy laughed at my plight, shaking her head. "I understand your feeling. It happens to the best of us."
We laughed together. We saw Alena and Carlotta flirting with cashier. We both rolled our eyes. "Flirts." We synced with each other. "Hey." We fist-bumped.
We had pulled them out of the store. After the war between us, we decided to go to the food court. We all ordered pizza. The best of me.
"I think it's personal. But I'm shameless and curious. What is the chain that is hanging around your neck?" Alena asked casually. Though, the restraint was visible in her voice.
My hand unconsciously held the pendant. I tensed thinking about it but I gave the widest smile I could muster. They seemed surprised to see me smile. "My mom gifted it to me. I always had a good memory with it. Even though, she is not here."
They smiled warmly at me. Carlotta gave me a toothy grin. They thankfully changed the subject. We talked about different things. I offered to drop them off at their house.
"Guys, there is a party coming up this Saturday. We were invited to it. We have to go. We are going to..." Alena started rambling.
"No." Lucy said sternly.
"Hell yeah." Carlotta screamed.
"Final decision lies in hands of Celeste. Choose!" Alena screamed. Both of them had puppy faces. I rolled my eyes. "That doesn't work on me."
"Just decide already." Alena screamed like a banshee in my ear. "Fine, I don't mind."
They both screamed, "YES!!"
Lucy sulked. I looked apologetically towards Lucy. She smiled at me, making the crazy sign at them. I smiled back.
Maybe, I could get used to it. Maybe, I could be different. Maybe, just maybe, I could have a normal life.
