Statues

" Dont fret Gravedigger... I save the best... only for you"

" I bet you say that to all your customers Thesus, "

" Caught..... Red Handed... I am... "

Thesus gave a slight chuckle before placing out four boxes. Three were slightly red with small rats carved on the outside, and one was a plain brown.

Seeing Cleffs cloudy eyes narrow in confusion Thesus quickly gave an explanation,

" The items in the special boxes are nothing special... They were just items..... obtained ..... from the recent..... Rat king celebration..... They were sold to me.... from others.... like yourself... " Thesus rambled on for a bit, occasionally pausing for a long breath of air.

" Rat king Celebration, more like a plague of rats. Those damn things almost dug up my entire graveyard dammit," Cleff spit to the side, cursing the damn rat king whom somehow caused him some unwanted trouble.

" A curse to some.... A blessing to others..... Narrow minded you might be.... You have gained a few items have you not ?"

Cleff thought back to the few items he had gotten quite recently. When he thought about it, a few hours ago he was still smacking around rats. Right afterwards when he was about to observe his spoils of war Zote arrived throwing his plans into disarray. Of course as soon as he had gotten Zote settled down Thesus came along with his little shop.

Sigh....

So much to do, not enough time.

Cleff waved his arms around signaling for Thesus to open the boxes, " I know the drill, hurry on up and open the boxes already, there's work to be done. "

Of course with a slight chuckle Thesus complied, removing the the lids from the four boxes and revealing their contents to Cleff. Interestingly enough each box held a wooden statue, the statues from the red boxes had a slightly red tint, and the statue from the regular box was a dark brown.

Each statue depicted a strange creature, the statues from the red boxes all had strange ratlike features, while the brown statue was just of some strange tentacles.

" Dearest Gravedigger... You have the opportunity to choose..... one of these statues..... Choose wisely, "

And of course without second thought Cleff grabbed the one that wasn't ratlike in appearance and walked away. After the whole rat tide, he was quite adverse to anything ratlike in appearance, and although he wasn't a big tentacle fan either they were a step up in his book. Although he probably should have asked Thesus about the statues he really couldn't care much. He was in quite the bad mood, and the last thing he wanted to do was waste time talking to Thesus when he could almost hear the driverless cart in the distance. A new week was about to start and he had no time for standing around.

After Cleffs sudden departure Thesus gave a quick chuckle before cleaning up his counter and putting away the three specialty boxes containing the ratlike sculptures. Mumbling to himself Thesus was quite interested in Cleffs strange adverse reaction to rats. Most other gravekeepers were quite fond of the rats as they removed a few days worth of work along with leaving a few specialty items.

Sighing to himself, Theusus eventually just thought that Cleff disliked rats in general, not even thinking that Cleff would have even dared to fight against the rat wave, it was just unheard of.

Within a few moments Thesus's shutters closed and his caravan rocketed off into the mist once more..

And of course just as Cleff had hidden away his newest possession in the depths of his shack, the driverless cart had arrived once more. And again like any other day it had dumped a pile of corpses and assorted bodies infront of Cleff graveyard. Alas unlike usual, even before Cleff had the opportunity to walk up to the pile and count the number of bodies he had to bury, Zote had beat him to it. Already sorting through the pile and giving each one a good look before tossing it to the side.

" Zote what the hell are you doing... "
