He let go of me. I pulled back. "Ok."

"Butterfly, you're like a little sister. I'm not using you as a replacement or anything. Having you around just makes me miss being an older brother."

"Don't you have a younger brother?" I asked.

"Mako doesn't like living in the city. He's staying at a sleepy town with my mother." He smiled and ruffled my hair as if I were a dog. "I'm glad you're safe, Butterfly. At least I can be assured before I die."

"You're not going to die, Mr. Shark!"

"Did Dog tell you that? I'm sure he was trying to console you."

"No... You can't die yet. I need you." My hands trembled.

I wasn't sure who to believe.
