Mr. Shark and Miss Butterfly

When the lights went on momentarily, I hurried towards the stairs. When I heard another set of footsteps following behind me, I screamed.


I went down the flight of stairs as fast as I could. I held on to the railings just in case I missed a few steps. While being blinded by darkness and fear, I crashed into someone. Thank goodness we didn't fall.


"Butterfly? I heard you scream." It was Mr. Shark.


The lights went back on again. We looked up and saw a figure retreating towards the roof.


Mr. Shark gave chase. I recovered myself before following.


I collapsed after reaching the end of the stairway. Mr. Shark was searching all over the rooftop for any signs of the culprit.


"He vanished?" My eyes widened. There was no one around except Mr. Shark and me.


He couldn't have jumped off. It was a long fall from the roof to the sidewalk below.
