Chapter 38

"Isuru, I'm afraid," I admitted. It was normally hard for me to admit my fears, but not this time.

He had on a determined look. "Our ending will be different."

I tried to smile. "I hope so."

He placed the flower behind my ear and took my hand. "Let's go home."

The warmth of his hand calmed me down a little. I looked up at the dark blue sky and remembered a line from the poem: "... then some evening, rose and mystic blue ..."

When we reached our door, I tiptoed and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

He was caught by surprise. I smiled at the obvious red tints on his cheeks.

"Cho—"

"Thanks for cheering me up a bit," I said.

He touched the spot on his cheeks where I kissed him. "You're welcome."

I saw his smile from the corner of my eye, as I opened the door to the bookshop. It was a child-like smile he was trying to hide. A smile that broke down the entire image of Isuru as a fierce Mr. Shark.
