Chapter 39

As I was flipping through the photo album for pictures of Ms. Cat, a photograph fell on the floor. I picked it up and saw a picture of a beautiful young lady with a little girl holding a crimson flower.

The scene looked so familiar to me. My gaze eventually fell on the shrub of exotic flowers. It was the same kind as the one by the river.

Wait. Why do I feel like I know this woman?

As I tried to remember, a piece of my memory came back to me. Then another one came. And they all kept coming back one after the other.

Horrible memories of her being beaten.

I screamed. Just as I had screamed in the memory.

Isuru came running. "Cho? Are you alright?"

I continued screaming until the memories stopped flowing. Isuru held me in his arms protectively and waited for me to calm down. It was soothing to be in his embrace.

Once he saw that I was done screaming, he asked softly, "What's wrong?"
