"Ha…Ha…Ha…" I handed a bottle of water to the poor and pitiful Lily who was gasping for air beside me.
She looked helpless and seriously worn out. I think she'll fain in just a matter of seconds with her state. Her regimen sure is tiring, I can tell it with her state right now.
"Tha…Tha…" I don't know if I should laugh or if I should be getting some foam so she won't fall on the hard ground if she fainted. She can't even finish a word of 'thanks'.
I became uncomfortable when she coughed in front of me. Hey. Stop.
"Yo…you…" She didn't even say the 'thank' and proceeded to its next word.
I sighed. "Whatever." I stood up." I don't wanna hear your last words." I stood up and saw Delora approaching this direction so I just went away.
"Hey!"
All of our attention went to Brian when he shouted. He was running towards us with a wide grin on his face as he waves his hand to us. He must be relaying good news based on his expression. He was away earlier so he wasn't with us.
"Did something happen?" Vezkud asked Brian when he got to us.
Brian nodded in answer and drank his water first, he might've gotten dehydrated from running. I sat down on a bench but I immediately regretted it when I heard someone talk behind me.
"What is it, Brian?" And it was Neodelle.
"You see… Sir Ezekiel talked to me earlier." He started when he finished drinking water.
"You met him?" Neodelle asked and the answer was obvious since Brian literally said he did meet him.
"Good thing you didn't drool over his look." Vantel said with a straight face that somehow made Brian angry.
"I'm a straight man, you know?!"
"Yeah, yeah. Shut up and tell us the news." Neodelle said, stopping the two from bickering. Sometimes I find Neodelle weird. He just told Brian to shut up yet he wants him to talk about the news. That's weird. "...Gay." He added.
Brian breathed out in disbelief. "Geez." He mumbled, probably annoyed with the two. "You see, he talked to me earlier and told me that headmaster Gordon is about to come back!"
The rest have their eye widened, "Gordon will?" Somehow, I think that they weren't surprised to hear him go back. Is it just me or do I think they're surprised to hear that Gordon was still outside?
Well. Even I forgot about him most of the time. I think he was gone for almost two months?
"Yes. He'll be back faster than expected." Brian said and noticed that his shoelace was untied. He knelt on the ground and fixed it but he looked like he remembered something so he looked up, looking at us as he tells more. "Ah. Sir Ezekiel also said that there would be another student with headmaster Gordon when he arrives."
What he said made me flinch and shiver in my spot. A new student? Ugh. This isn't good.
"Did you just flinch?"
I almost flinched once again when I heard a voice near my ear. I could even feel his breath. I quickly made some distance as I held my ear. I don't know If I'm creeped out of what but it made me feel weird when he whispered.
I looked at Neodelle who was raising an eyebrow at me and it somehow made me speechless.
It was so long when a guy talked next to my ear.
"Hey! Are you listening to me?" An irritated voice came out from Neodelle that made me come back to my senses. I almost thought of that guy's face. Thankfully, I didn't because of Neodelle. If I did, I might be conscious around the girls if we met. "Oi!"
I shook my head aggressively and held my head. This isn't god. Even though I don't want to, some faces are popping inside my head. Neodelle's voice isn't making me distracted now. Bad. This is bad.
No. it's coming back again. Their faces… I'm remembering them again.
"Violet…?"
I shook my head aggressively again but those faces kept on coming back without fail. I pushed my hair backward as I felt my head aching but I ended up grabbing my hair when the faces of everyone who were important to me started to flash into my mind.
It's driving me crazy and my head aches worse than earlier.
Ah. This isn't good.
"Violet?" Delora called me but I can't think straight.
My breathing pattern started to become quicker like what happened to Lily earlier, gasping for air like there was no more air available around me.
Now, I even remembered awful things like some people gasping for air, trying their best to avoid death as it stands beside them.
I tried to walk but my knees became weak. I was meant to fall if it wasn't for Delora who caught me before I fell on the ground.
"Violet?" I don't know why they worry over someone they didn't completely know. "Are you okay?" She worriedly asked. Hell. Do I look okay with this rapid breathing? Even Lily and Virgo approached me.
"Does your head hurt-?" Theodore was about to approach me with Neodelle by his side but they suddenly halted. All of them froze but I was busy remembering things to even know what made them stop all of a sudden.
"The bandanges…" This is a rare sight to see Aaron with his wide eyes but did I hear what he mumbled right? My bandages?
"Tears?" Vantel managed to add some words to Aaron's and that made me realize something. Tears?
My trembling cold hand went to touch my face. I touched my eyes and felt something on its side. My bandaged hand felt some liquid outside this bandage of mine.
My hand felt and touched my tears which I didn't want everyone nor anybody to see.
'Are you alright, sweetie?'
Things got worse when I heard my mother's voice inside my head. My tears started to flow nonstop as I longed for her again.
It hurts… Mom, it hurts.
Stop. Please stop this aching feeli-.
. . .
'Did she just... cry?'
Neodelle stood frozen beside Theodore who was calling someone through his phone. Everyone was panicking when they saw how Violet suddenly collapsed on Delora's arms.
"What the hell... Just happened?" Aaron asked even though he knows that no one has the potential to answer him. All of them were shocked and confused at what they saw and clueless about her state.
The Violet who was always slacking off, suddenly stood up with an aching head based on her actions, fell, and eventually lost her consciousness.
For a person that they have doubts on, this is quite making things more complicated.
"Hand her to us!" A medical unit of Althea suddenly appeared out of nowhere and went to take Violet who was unconscious.
"Wait, isn't she...?" One of them seemed to recognize her and it took the attention of Violet's classmate. The woman looked over the class with a serious face. "What happened to her?" She asked.
"W-we don't even know." Lily said. Even though Neodelle saw how she became like that but he can't seem to say any words.
"Her heartbeat isn't normal and her temperature's rising, Zoe. What should we do?" One of them said.
"W-what? Is she going to be okay?" Brian asked but no one paid any attention to him. They were too focused on Violet's body rather than their questions.
Two people from the medical unit told them to step farther from them so they can check her energy thoroughly. With the distance, they cannot hear anything coming from the unit.
"Avoid touching her as you can and bring her down the chamber. Call for headmaster Gordon. Tell him that Violet is having some complications in her heartbeat as well as her temperature." Zoe said and inserted a needle into Violet's tummy, to apply a cooling sensation despite her burning state. "Call the other Rioden over. They might have some knowledge about her condition."
"Her temperature's rising even more!" one of them said.
"What?!" Zoe exclaimed. She tried to touch her but when her skin was about to make a contact, she immediately retreated when she felt the heat coming from her. "Damn. Get her down. Now!"
"The Rioden are still in their class, Zoe—."
But Zoe didn't care. "Now!"
The nine students can't help but to be nervous at the medical unit's reaction. They knew from their faces that her condition isn't something normal.
The medical unit of Althea is known for their composed way of treating diseases, wounds, illnesses, and even broken bones and seeing them like what happened just now made them uneasy.
There was a portal created and the medical unit went inside with Violet lying on a stretcher. Even without her consciousness, they saw how her body shivered.
Lily became teary-eyed at the situation. All of them were too shocked to see her with the medical unit enter the portal until they were gone.
"Violet..." Delora held her chest as her heart keeps on beating so fast.
. . .
With a hurried and worried expression, the four Rioden barged into the room on a specific chamber located below Althea. There they caught a glimpse of the helpless medical unit sitting on the ground with their bruised hands.
Zoe, who was walking back and forth stopped and approached the four who immediately went to Violet. She still has her bandages but the heat coming from her body was almost unbearable.
"She's not waking up. Her heartbeat went back to normal but her temperature isn't even going down. Do you have any idea how she ended up like this?"
The four remained to stare at Violet who was placed on a bed, unconscious and unaware of the heat she was producing, burning whoever touches her.
"Where..." Jirile managed to say something. "Where was she when this thing started?"
"Her classmate, Theodore, called us. They were in the practice field for their daily attendance." Zoe said. "Wait. Did she overwork herself? I heard they had a new regimen for their attendance. If that's so, you need to infor—."
"No." Ginger shook her head. "She didn't overwork herself."
"Then what happened? Even her classmates didn't know what triggered her situation right now."
The four went silent. Kesha stepped back and sat on a couch nearby. She closed her eyes and started to think of a way to quickly cure Violet that even they haven't done before.
"Those s-class...."Jirile clenched her fist, her eyebrows furrowing as she thinks of an acceptable reason why Violet is in such state right now... "Did they start bragging about their families? I can't think of any idea that triggers her."
"Family?" Zoe asked. She was eager to know the cause of Violet's situation. Violet is an important person in Althea. That's what Gordon told the officials of Althea which she is present in.
If she finds out what triggers and what cure is needed, she can immediately tend to Violet who stands as the strength of Althea. Despite circulating doubts since the special treatment was given.
"Yes." Kesha stepped back and approached Zoey. "You see, Violet becomes like this when her memory comes rushing back. Her mind and magic can't suppress the feeling that she holds towards those she remembers. The many people she remembers, the worse her situation becomes."
"What also concerns us is her head was said to be aching at the process. As we dig deeper into that, it looked like her brain stresses out and aches like it is being overworked for a year as she kept on remembering." Herlye said. "So far, we haven't got nor made any cure for her situation."
"It's almost a year but I still failed over and over again for making a cure or medicine for her." Kesha said. "You see, except for cursing people, I have a talent on making medicines."
"Then would you like to work with me on making one?" Zoe suggested.
Kesha looked over her companions who were looking at her too. They all nodded so Kesha extended her hand to Zoe. "Let's make it as soon as possible."
Zoe accepted the handshake. "But how about Violet? How long will she be in that state? What did you do before to make her fine again?" She asked.
Ginger sighed heavily and looked at her helplessly. "You see...That's our problem now. I think you would like to get a piece of paper and write an excuse letter for Violet for a long time."
Zoe's eyebrows furrowed. "I get why I'll write an excuse letter but what do you mean by your last words?"
"She'll be fine just by laying down." Kesha said. "Her magical energy is like her red and white blood cells as well as platelets. Means, her magical energy is on the task of repairing her. That explains the sudden rise of her temperature."
Zoe looked at Violet. "Is that so?"
"But Violet told me to make a cure if it happens again. And look what we got here." Kesha said.
"But if her energy is currently repairing the damages done in her body, why bother?" Zoe curiously asked which made the rest sigh heavily. Her reaction made her more curious but she didn't see what Ginger said coming.
"You see..."
