CHAPTER 4: OVERDRESSED

Bassam's POV

I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong with this document. Something just didn't seem right with the financials. Quite a big sum of money was missing from the company. I wonder how possible it was for Uncle Nick to have missed this.

Just looking at the file all day without figuring out where exactly the financial gap was coming from frustrated me to a huge extent. So I decided to do something else and revisit that later. After all there's a common saying that: things get clearer when you take a break.

I rang up my assistant to bring in some other documents that needed my signature.

"Ms. Hall, bring in the documents I am yet to sign"

"Right away sir" she responded immediately through the intercom.

Not quite five minutes she entered into my office with the documents.

"Drop them on my table" I didn't even bother glancing in her direction. I was too busy going through my emails.

"Elm sir" I raised my head up from my emails to look at her. Did I have an important meeting I forgot about?

She drew her skirt down, and my eyes automatically followed her movement. Only then did I notice her less than appropriate work clothes. She wore a very short tight skirt that stopped at her mid thigh paired with an armless blouse that showed her cleavage.

I knew once what she was trying to do. Too bad I don't go after coworkers. Everything gets too messy.

She smiled satisfied, probably thinking she had successfully gotten my attention.

"I wanted to remind you its lunch time. You've been working so hard you deserve a break sir." The way she said the 'sir' at the end sounded rather seductive, if I didn't know better I would say she was asking for something else.

"I would take that into consideration. If that would be all" I gestured my hand towards the door indicating she should leave. She looked quite disappointed before she made her way out.

When she was about to grab the door handle I added "I'm sure we pay you well enough to get yourself some clothes your size. Get more appropriate clothes next time" she looked slightly embarrassed. She nodded and left.

Time flew by after my encounter with my less than appropriate assistant. By the time I decided to take a break, it was already past 6.

I decided to take a look at my schedule, before I called it a day at the office and go back to my suite, to continue working from there.

I signed deeply when I realized I still had a meeting with essi; to discuss her proposal.

She was a lot of work, I doubt if I could handle her annoying attitude today. She was one of those people I just saw and never liked. She is too arrogant about everything, she behaves like a true entitled brat.

I decided to go back to my suite and freshen up before meeting with her.

Jessica's POV

I chuckled along with everybody "I guess I deserved that"

My phone vibrated in my purse. I quickly reached for it to see if I had any important work. My eyes widened when I saw the reminder on my phone:

'meeting with Sam at 6pm.'

Shoot! I totally forgot. I have only fifteen minutes to magically get there.

Thank God I set a reminder for the meeting today. I hadn't even realized I exclaimed out loud until I raised my head up and saw they were all looking at me with their eyebrows raised.

"I have to go, I can't miss this meeting" I gave them one last apologetic look, before I dashed off. It was my friend's art event, I had to attend it to support Tracy.

Thankfully Tracy understood that it was an important deal; a meeting I couldn't miss. This deal would play a big role in taking over the company. She smiled at me when I explained how important everything was, and even shooed me to go, after giving me a hug.

I made my way to luxury hotel. There was a little bit of traffic, but I managed to get there in time. I hadn't even realized I was still wearing the green cocktail dress I wore to the exhibition show. It showed more cleavage than I would normally wear, but it was the only option at the time.

The elevator dinged. I stepped out and went straight to the white desk, where a young lady whom I presumed to be his assistant sat, filling her burgundy nails.

"Can I help you?" she eyed my appearance.

I frowned at the way she eyed my appearance so obviously in distaste. Couldn't she have been any less obvious "I have an appointment. I am Jessica Williams"

She typed something on her computer before pointing me in the direction of his office. I wanted to barge in, but I decided against it. I had to seem professional, especially since I wasn't here for a social visit. Not as if I'll ever pay Sam a social visit. I knocked once, before I pulled down the door handle and entered.

I saw him seated on the black leather couch in his office going through his laptop. Once he noticed me he dropped it on the table and regarded with his eyes.

"Looks like someone misunderstood the context of this meeting. You didn't have to get all dressed up, I don't mind though"

I narrowed my eyes at him. He must be high on something to even suggest I would wear a dress to meet up with him. "Don't you wish"

I took my seat on the farthest spot from him on the chair. "I have the proposals with me" I reached into my bag and brought them out. I passed it on to him.

He scanned through the pages for about a minute before he dropped them on the table. "I don't see anything special here. I can't accept this"
