'What should I do now? If the result came positive, then should I just let her continue her life here as she wanted and live happily? Or make her face the devil Grace and bring her on a roller coaster ride.' Millie wondered.
The waiting made both the mother and the grandmother feel like many days had passed. As if Mike had heard their thoughts, he rushed inside the house in a few minutes. He came back with a small bag in his hand. He dropped the package on the coffee table and said,
"Aunty, I will be back later. In the meanwhile, if you need my help or anything at all, then don't hesitate and just give me a call. I will rush back in no time."
"Ok," Kara replied without moving from where she was sitting.
When Mike almost reached the door, she remembered Millie asked her for a phone charger.
"Mike, listen, do you have a charger for this phone?" She pointed at Millie's phone that was lying on the coffee table.
Mike scratched his head and looked at the phone on the table.
"This looks like it's similar to my old phone but I am not sure."
He lifted the phone and examined the port.
"I do have a similar charger that could be a fit for this one but I don't know where I threw it... I mean where I kept it. I will search around the house and bring the charger here once I find it." He told them.
"Alright, Aunty! I am leaving but don't forget. If you need my help, I am just a call away," He informed Kara once again and hurriedly left.
He was really afraid of Dina's grandmother as there was a high possibility now that Dina would meet her twin sister Tina sooner than expected. Then they can't be sure what would happen to them next. As their fate was intertwined with each other, meeting each other so soon may cause some disaster.
Mike dashed out of Kara's house without even waiting for a response from both of them. The pressure in that house was too much for him to take in. Also, he needed to find out the person responsible for Dina's situation.
Then a reality check hit him. He has to inform his parents about this newly arisen situation. He was unable to decide what he should tell his parents. He squatted on the ground and tried to think of a way to come out of this sticky situation unscratched.
"Whatever I say, they would definitely bury me alive for sure this time. It's all because of this Dina. If only she listened to me and did not run away that day. Ahhhh..." Mike shouted standing right in front of his house holding his head.
He then sat on the floor and looked at the device in his hand. His fingers hesitated to tap on that device. Several times, they almost reached the button but then he would move his hand away.
"Alright, Mike. You can do it. All you have to do is tell them the truth. Then whatever happens to you is all in fate's hand. Just close your eyes and send them a message," He tried to encourage himself to do the toughest job in his life.
He moved his left hand closer to his right-hand wrist and almost hit the 'on' button. But just before his index finger touched the button, he pulled his hands away once again.
"No, no no no no … For Dina's mistake, why should I suffer? I am not going to inform them." He shook his head and hid his hand behind his back.
He then sighed and slowly, sent the message to his parents. He decided to come clean as it was better to say it now than later. Anyway, the outcome would still be the same for him. He would face the wrath of everyone. And finally, they would grill him until he became a burnt dish.
"Dad, Mom, I think we are in serious trouble. Dina is pregnant," Mike sent the message and switched off the communicator.
Then he rushed inside the home and shut the door behind him loudly. He thought that if he closed and locked the door sooner, then his parents' cannot enter the house easily. But before he could even lock it, there were sparks behind him. He held his breath and turned around in horror; only to be faced with his parents' angry stare.
"What do you mean by that message?" His mother, Arantxa, inquired while glaring at him.
"Answer her, you pathetic idiot!" His father, Benjamin, scolded him.
Then Benjamin turned towards Arantxa and complained to her about Mike as if he was really angry at him.
"I told you before, he is incompetent for this job. We should have sent a few more of our people to protect her instead of sending him alone. Look at the way, he is blinking his eyes innocently. I can't believe, he just proved himself to be a complete loser," He huffed and mocked Mike.
"Dad!" Mike shouted and dropped his sorry ass on the couch.
"Mike, I know how you are feeling right now. But sometimes we need to accept that we are not as capable as…" Benjamin tried to console his son which increased Arantxa's anger.
She pinched Benjamin on his arm to stop him from speaking anymore. He looked at his wife in horror. Arantxa clearly understood that Benjamin was trying to protect Mike by twisting his words in front of her.
"We better leave this place now before your mother burns this whole place along with us inside the house," Benjamin warned Mike.
"Should we?" Mike asked him.
He even stood up from the sofa hastily in relief. He got so happy that he could somehow escape so easily from his mother's grasp with his father's help.
"Shut up you both! Sit wherever you are, Mike. Don't you dare move from there!" Arantxa shouted with rage and closed her eyes to reduce the bad temper that was blaring out of her control.
After a couple of seconds, once she felt slightly calm inside her mind she opened her eyes. Still, she was left speechless when she saw them both busy with the Pie that Benjamin brought along with him for his son. She sighed and suggested,
"Whatever had to happen has already happened. We cannot change the past. So, for now, let us plan on how we can save her from getting hurt."
"Yes, mom," Mike responded but his concentration was on the pie that his father was slicing into small pieces.
"Yes, dear," Benjamin replied while cutting the biggest piece for himself.
She looked at the two men disappointedly, who had now started to eat the pie. She finally understood that these two men did not take her seriously. As there was nothing she could do about the current situation, she rolled her eyes and joined them.
"Mom, your cooking is the best. I love this pie. It has been so long I had one of these," Mike said while stuffing his mouth with a huge chunk of the apple pie.
