Dwarf Gargoyle Miners

Dwarves?

I guess it makes sense that they would be the ones that would dig like this. But why were they here?

The miners that were lazily walking round stopped once they had seen us. We were quite a spectacle I might add. Two elf's, Haruka and Handa. One vampire, Miss Prim. One of us was just a blood shaped human. A Wolf Beastkin, Yua. Oh, did I tell you this? Hina is a fairy. So when they saw us all drenched, and me vomiting besides a mangled and bloodied body.

I was sure they had a lot of questions.

...

Surprisingly, they didn't.

They didn't care about us and were very kind. We had asked them what were they doing here? They said they were hunting gargoyles to tame. TAME!?

We asked them why were they taming them? And how? I checked their stats and found out that they had at least 100 in each stat. I gasped, I never had considered them to be a threat, I need to keep my guard up.

To answer why they were taming them, they said.

"The family of Sana Is hosting a special party for some of the adjudicators that saved them from some dirty monsters. They were crowned heroes. A bunch of wussies if you tell me"

When they had said adjudicators, we froze. The dwarves saw us with their high perception.

"You fellas alright?" I nodded a bit too quick and I guessed that a suspicion rose in their heart about us.

"You fellas aren't from around here aren't you?" I looked at the group, they all had a worrying look but Haruka just nodded.

"Yes, we aren't. We came from above" I pointed at the top of the ravine. The dwarves found this hilarious and started laughing their asses off.

"I see, you guys are adjudicators. Why did you lie?" Once they had calmed down, they questioned us. How did they know?

"We thought that being an adjudicator was bad"

"Nonsense! You truely are fools! I see you've just arrived. You see, 10 years ago, these strange people had arose out of now where on the first layer. I know you fellas don't know what I'm talking bout, but don't interrupt" They had caught me as I was about to ask.

"Coming from the first floor, they descended or stayed. With the descended they had reached the second floor. The residential area. Where everyone lives. So when you had said you came from the first floor, it was hilarious. You clearly look scrawny and weak compared to the normal people at the 2nd layer.

"So when the adjudicators had descended, they thought they were special and mighty but we put them back in their place. Mots were sent to the 3rd floor and only some stayed at the 2nd floor. With the ones that stayed in the 2nd floor, they had went to schools. There they stayed.

"When they had graduated, they were the strongest among the bunch. So when the had noticed the explosive growth of the adjudicators from above, the world had put a special badge on them and labeled them as important. With time more and more adjudicators had come from above and were given the 'adjudicator badge'

"Don't worry about yourselves, when you get down there, you will be protected until you can defend for yourselves. Then you can do what ever you adjudicators do"

I sighed. I guess we were are a bit late from the rest. But a badge? I checked the quest rewards.

We have plenty of time left. I checked the rewards. Huh? It looks like I had unlocked what it was. Nice one!

"Do you fellas wanna get outta here" One of the dwarves offered an idea and we all quickly nodded and degrees.

"On one condition, you must accompany us with our hunt!" Our celebration was halted and we all turned fearful.

"Don't worry, you won't do the fighting. You just have to follow us, you don't know the exit. Plus, we can't leave without doing what we came here for" We eventually agreed with them and they continued on their walks though the holes in the walls, but this time with us failing them.

We crossed multiple tunnels and corridors. Eventually we arrived at a tall stone wall. Out if their backpack they brought out 4 pick axes. They each had one and then chucked one at us.

"Make yourself useful" Haruka was stunned and seemed unwilling. I sighed and I picked up the pick axe and held it in my hands. You really making a shirtless man do this? Alright then.

I stood behind the mining dwarves and found myself a small space a bit far from them. I chucked my sword and sheath to the side. I held the pick axe in positions and started mining and mining.

And mining.

And mining.

And mining.

[+1 Constitution]

Great, 20 minute of mining is 1 constitution point! I didn't know whether I was sarcastic or not so I kept mining. Then it hit me. I stopped mining and grabbed my sword and cut my palm. I then chucked the sword back and grabbed my pick axe.

My blood flowed and encased the pick axe and a red magical aura surrounded the pick. *DING*

I chuckled to myself and clenched the pickaxe harder. I arrived where I was before, clearly behind where the other dwarves were. So I begun once more. I started mining and mining.

I stopped mining and collapsed backwards. I obviously overworked myself and yet I felt good. I had just gained stats from just mining, damn.

When I looked at where my part of the was and theirs, I felt silly. I didn't know why I felt like I could compare to them. They were already a kilometre in and I was barely making any improvement from the original wall.

After a minute or so, I got up and followed down the way the dwarves had mined. The others already followed in pursuit and I was definitely lagging behind. But I didn't care, I had 17 in total constitution and 27 total essence.

I was the only one that benefited from this so I don't care if I'm late to anything.

I had arrived where they were and I saw the dwarves furiously mining without stop.

"Were they always like this?"

"Yup..." Haruka nonchalantly said back to me while still staring at the mining dwarves.

*THUD*

Their mining stopped. They wiped their forehead with their dusty clothes and put their pick axes back.

"Stand back guys" I saw them grab dynamite out of their bags and place it at the wall where they stopped. I used 'Observe' on the wall to figure out what was so special about this.

*DING*

[Observe levelled up!!!]

[Observe is now level 3]

[Observe can now identify more organisms, non-organisms and mechanisms]
