Bittersweet

Hayden's eyes watered when he realised what it really was. It was his love match. His soulmate. The person who was perfect for him, his other half. They were in the same building. From a young age Hayden had always heard stories of what it would be like when he finally met his true love, no one told him about the feelings of idolisation that instantly bubbled up. Without even having to see them, he already felt like they deserved the world and that they came before anyone. He was already high and addicted at the thought of them.

Excitement rushed through him as he hurried to his lesson. Although he was late, he didn't apologise and merely just walked to an empty seat at the back. He was overrun with thoughts of his match. What he would look like, obviously he was handsome. Hayden was sure of it. His hand ran through his silky hair as he fantasised about his match for the whole lesson.

Most importantly, he felt the breath that he had been holding since he was born finally escape his lips. A sigh of relief because it was finally time for his happiness. His scent was so perfect that Hayden wished that he could bottle it up and get drunk off of it every night, it was more than enough to keep him going.

Without even being in same room as him, Hayden felt a buzz. His mouth watered and his heart began racing, it amazed him how such a light scent of his match was driving him insane. He was hungry for a bite, literally. The predator inside of him wanted to hunt his match down and claim him right then and there, but Hayden had all the time in the world. So he waited.

Morgan couldn't believe his eyes. Disappointment was oozing off his body as he watched his love match. As soon as he had entered the class, he could immediately smell him. His gender wasn't the issue, Morgan was bisexual. The problem was just him.

Finn was far too small for Morgan. Far too shy. Far too meek.

Morgan was a lion matched to a goldfish, it simply wasn't physically or theoretically possible. The two didn't even come from similar environments. Plus, the boy simply reminded him of his twin brother. Who was also far too small. Far too shy. Far too meek for Morgan. Dominance, muscles and confidence was what he found attractive, regardless of gender. His eyes dropped as he continued to stare, he knew that Finn could feel him looking but he was simply too shy and awkward to look or tell him to stop.

"Just as I thought. Can't even sum up the courage to look at me." Morgan sighed, he shifted in his seat. silently hoping that Finn would look back and prove him wrong. However, he didn't.

Normally, when a high-class vampire meets their love match, their thirst is uncontrollable. All they want is their match. Their heart beats out of its normal rhythm and they begin to have obsessive thoughts. Once time goes by, their fangs begin to hurt and their skin becomes even colder. It's similar to withdrawal symptoms for some, which was funny because they wouldn't have even claimed their match yet.

Morgan felt none of that. The only thing that assured him that the human was his match was his scent. Finn's scent was sweet, exactly what a match's scent is meant to be but Morgan felt blank.

Although he slept around and killed quite a lot of humans for their blood, Morgan had always been excited to meet his match. He had also fantasised about their meeting and their relationship. Now that he was looking at his said match, the vampire couldn't help but feel discontented. Everything about him pushed the vampire away. The Sun Goddess had failed.

Or maybe it wasn't a mistake.

Finn was as reserved as they came. He sat alone at the very front of the class, passionately listening and taking notes. Every few minutes, his pale hand would push his thick, black glasses up. His brown locks were messy. Not to mention how short he was, Morgan couldn't help but notice a few feminine curves on him but they only ignited lust.

Then again, Morgan fucked anyone with legs.

Not really paying attention, Morgan glanced out the window. Then back at Finn. The vampire wasn't sitting beside him, he was sitting in his far left, so he could watch the human easily. A sort of protectiveness hung over him but he also fought to push the feeling down.

It was confusing. Surely if he wasn't attracted to him, he shouldn't force it. Soulmate or not. Just reject him and move on.

"What's his problem?" Hayden slumped down into the seat, his eyes observed the two brothers and there was no tension. Just a depressive energy radiating from Morgan.

The human boy simply pointed at Finn, who was sitting on a table alone reading a book. Hayden thought Finn was adorable, the way the human had a permanent blush and how his bottom lip slightly bled from biting it. If anything he was a gem, boys just didn't look or act like that anymore. Throughout the decades he had been alive, Hayden had learnt that as much as looks didn't matter; they always told you one thing about the person that they wouldn't be able to tell you themselves.

"His match?" The Kingsley glanced back at Morrigan.

Morrigan nodded before getting back to eating his pizza, the boy couldn't care less about his brother's love life. His twin brother glared at him before looking at Hayden. Morgan looked bored and dejected, which wasn't what Hayden expected.

"He's the weakest human I've ever seen in my life, obviously after Morrigan." Morgan rolled his eyes when he didn't hear his twin argue. Which just proved his point.

Hayden looked at them before he turned his attention to Finn, the boy didn't look weak at all. He was just small. After all, dynamite came in small packages. Morgan sounded like an ass but Hayden loved the boy far too much to tell him that, although sometimes all he wanted to do was kill him.

Morgan always felt entitled and arrogant because of the constant praise his father gave him for simply being born as a vampire and not human. Which explained the male's obsession with strength and his close-mindedness. Although he was physically stronger, Morgan could never match his older brother's kindness and level of patience and endurance.

"Surely you should just give him a chance, after all he's your soulmate." Hayden suggested, he didn't want anyone to get hurt. Finn was losing his soulmate without even realising it and Morgan was being incredibly judgemental.

Clearly stressed out, Weylyn inhaled the smoke and blew it out. The cigarette in his hand was the only thing he had control over, the only thing that he could step on whenever he wished to or light it up. No matter what it was, everything in his life just felt draining.

He was so fucking powerless over his own existence.

His parents told him what to do, how to act, heck they even told him to breathe quieter, which pissed him off. Being the heir was all he was, that was all anyone knew him for. No one knew what Weylyn was really like, what he enjoyed doing. Vampires hated him, his parents were shit and all the people in the pack were too busy bum licking him to even get to know him. Before he was Weylyn, he was Prince Moon. That was all they knew about him.

Frankly, Weylyn wanted to disappear. Death, running away or just getting swallowed by the Earth were all options he was considering. However, the Lycan loved his parents way too much to run away as their only heir, the stress that it would put them under would be too much for them to handle. Suffocation. That's what it felt like. He needed to keep going even though bit by bit, he was slowly running out of oxygen and the will to live.

He put the cigarette out and pulled out a brush, then proceeded to brush his hair forwards. Even through all this stress, he still worried about his waves.

I hate this school, can we just leave? Hades, Weylyn's Lycan, growled.

'Yeah, let's go.'

Grabbing his stuff, he jumped over the fence of the school and began walking towards the town centre. Completely unaware that his mate was in the building that he was so eager to leave.
