Natalie's POV
What the fucking hell was that? Is it just my crazy imagination or am I just really seeing weird things today?
I slightly jumped out from my seat when Alex suddenly called my name.
"Natalie?"
"Yeah?" I asked while trying to compose myself.
"Are you alright? What are you looking at?" She asked trying to find something on the window that I stared at.
"Nothing," I simply answered before taking my blueberry yogurt smoothie that she ordered.
"If you say so," she said and took her seat.
"So how's their yogurt smoothie?" she asked.
"It's good. It's not too sweet or too sour. How about yours?" I asked while she was sipping on her caramel macchiato drink. I'm not really a fan of coffee because I can't easily handle its side effects on my body.
"It's okay. It's not too sweet or too bitter. Just the right taste for me."
We talked for a bit until I excused myself to go to the comfort room.
After entering the toilet cubicle, I heard some footsteps inside. I started to feel a bit frightened again but I tried to shrug it off because maybe I'm just being too paranoid today.
However, my calmness didn't last long when the lights were starting to go on and off.
Shit!
I immediately wore my underwear and skirt before opening up the cubicle door. I scanned the whole place and saw that there's no one inside except for myself.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves again. Natalie, you can do this.
Nothing can scare you right now, absolutely nothing.
I went to the sink to wash my hands. While washing them, I noticed that there's a piece of folded paper that's attached on the mirror which is right next to my place.
After drying my hands, I took the piece of paper and unfolded it.
My eyes widened and my heart started beating faster after reading its message.
'Beware, someone's watching you.'
I immediately threw the paper and went out of the comfort room.
"What happened? Why do you look so--" I didn't let her finish because I promptly took her arm.
"Hey it hurts! Snap out of it Natalie!" She complained but I didn't budge not until she slapped my hand that's tightly holding her arm.
I noticed that her arm went red which made me feel guilty.
"Damn it, Natalie. You're really stressing me out today. What's happening to you? You told me that you're just going to the comfort room, and now I'll see you suddenly grabbing me as if you're running away from something." She said while touching the arm that I held.
I wanted to speak but I don't know why there are no words that are coming out from my mouth right now.
Her expression suddenly turned into worry when I didn't answer her that's why she didn't force me anymore.
"Let's go home?" She asked that made me nod.
She was fixing her things when I suddenly realize that I was making some weird actions in a public area. I looked at the staffs and saw their curious expressions as if they also want to know my current situation.
When we're about to leave, I saw a familiar back of a person who's sitting on a chair that's near the exit door of the café.
As if he knew that I was staring at him because he abruptly looked at my direction.
"Sis, I told you. We're dead," Alex said while looking at the person in front of us with widened eyes.
"Hello babe," my good-for-nothing brother said.
"What are you doing here?" I asked but the jerk just smirked.
"Didn't I tell you that I'll be the one who will fetch you?" He said before standing up and walked towards us that made Alex gulp.
"I-I'm s-so sor—"
"It's okay, Alex. You can go now. I'll be the one taking my sister home." He said in a cool manner.
"I'm so sorry, sis. See you at school," Alex whispered before leaving us and heading out straight to their car.
"Now young lady, shall we go?"
I nodded and tried to compose myself again as if nothing happened earlier.
When we have finally entered his car, I quickly wore my seatbelt and silently stared outside my window.
He turned on the engine and started to drive the car.
There was a moment of silence not until he asked me something that made me look at him.
"Why did you lie to me?" He asked in a serious manner.
"What do you mean?"
"Don't play any innocent games with me right now and I bet you know what you did."
"I didn't lie to you," I answered that made him laugh in a sarcastic way.
"Really? So I guess you're not the one who I called earlier? Since that girl told me that she's no longer inside the campus when she's actually hiding on the wall near at the parking lot and confirming if I was no longer there."
"How did you know about that?" I asked that made him look at my direction for a second.
"That's a secret, babe. Anyway, why did you lie?"
"And why would I not lie?"
"I told you that I'll be the one who will fetch you after your class."
"What are you even complaining for? You even saw me earlier at the parking lot so why didn't you stop me back then?" I asked.
"Because I was testing you," he answered that made my eyebrows furrowed.
"Testing me? For what? Oh my God! Are you really my sibling or what? You're so possessive as if you're my lover!" I complained.
"Natalie, I'm just doing this for your own good."
"What part of it is for my own good, Nate?" I asked using his name which made him surprise.
"What did you just call me?" He asked when he suddenly parked the car at the side of the road.
"Why did you stop?" I asked again but he still didn't answer me.
"What did you just call me?" He asked once again but this time, I didn't speak a word.
My eyes widened when he held my chin with his right hand that made me look at him. He moved an inch closer to my face before asking me for the nth time that damn question. However, I'm even more shocked of how I responded.
"What did you just call me?"
"Nate," I finally whispered as if I was being controlled by him.
