Alex looked at the 15 crystals in front of him with excitement. The team had found about 25 crystals and decided to give most of them to Alex.
Only 9 of them were from Crows he killed so he couldn't absorb all of them himself but he was still very excited.
Next to him Winnie was looking hungrily at the crystals in his hand.
"And why should I give you any? All you did was sleep in the carriage like some old lady." Alex said while shaking his head.
Winnie tilted his head and looked at Alex with wide sparkling eyes. Alex could understand that he was sorry and he would try his best from now on.
Alex pet his head softly and gave him the 6 useless crystals while he started absorbing the other 9.
However, after 5 crystals he was confused.

"Why does this crystal give more experience?" Alex asked confused
"The percentages are just estimates made based on your body's progress to the next breakthrough. It says 3% because it is enough to get you to the next breakthrough." Lu's voice explained
'Absorb'
Instantly Alex felt a surge of power throughout his body and multiple notifications appeared before him.
Alex saw his inventory expand by another row, adding 5 more slots. His stats got a large boost but none of that was even on his mind. Because next to the status tab and the inventory tab of his main screen he saw a new tab "Store"

"What the hell does any of this mean" Alex said in surprise
"You only ever talk to me when you have questions. How would you have survived if you were one of those guys that got a system with no assistance, I think you would be dead already." Lu sighed at Alex's constant questioning
"Yes yes you are the most benevolent of all ancestors I bow to your might, now tell me what is going on." Alex sighed
"Basically, I spread my divine energy throughout our... I uhh... I mean my family's vault and by converting your power into mine I can connect to it and possibly open a portal to take things for you. You can use some power to try to search for specific things or just open a portal randomly and hope to take something." Lu explained
"So, what is the Rank 1 thing about"
"The vault has many layers that each have more and more protective formations as it goes lower so using a lot of divine power to sneak through them would kill you hence why they are locked.
The first layer is pretty much a trash heap for us it is about the size of a continent. It has items that would be on par with what this world can produce so they shouldn't draw to much attention."
"Thank you for enlightening your humble servant oh great master."
Alex replied mockingly while bowing over and over again to the empty space all around him.

Alex heard a metallic clicking sound as a Steel door with a wheel lock like a bank appeared.
With each click the wheel turned until the vault door opened. Suddenly where the screen just was the space Infront of Alex actually distorted before a crack that led into a void appeared.
Out of the void can an item that blew Alex's mind

"What did you expect most people just through stuff out of their storage bags or personal spaces while heading down to lower levels of the Vault. There is a lot of empty space on the first floor just be glad you got something"
Lu laughed at Alex's surprise, what did he expect a heavenly sword on his first try, even Lu would have been shocked if Alex was that lucky.
Alex simply sighed and put his new shovel in his inventory he also put his coin bag in it.
After absorbing the rest of the crystals, he was very excited to look at what kind of progress this fight had given him

After everyone woke up, they were all getting ready to depart until suddenly Alex caught everyone's attention.
"I am very sorry to do this after we all just went through that attack but now that we know there are no Crazed Crows around, I feel much better asking for some time to go into the woods. After hearing Fulthir's stories about the magical lake to the north I want to go check it out. I will meet you later before heading the rest of the way to town."
Alex felt bad for asking to leave all these people he knew they were probably not excited to let their strongest defense go, but he also knew they would never tell him no and he was taking advantage of that.
"Of course, you have already helped us so much how could we say no to any of your requests. Please be safe and meet us before we go into town so we can say our proper good byes and thank yous."
Hemspear replied after Fulthir gave him a slight nod of the head. The group had gone on this road before and they had already conquered the most dangerous part of the trip after the Crows attacked.
"Of course, I will be back before you know it, I will travel down this road when I am done and catch up as quick as I can."
Alex smiled and said fare well to the group before he turned to the north and walked slowly until he was out of sight of the others then he dashed at an incredible speed to make the most out of the monster's gathering place.
