Chapter-48 : A Useless Plan

Richard is an accomplished writer with a huge fan base. Even if he didn't become an actor, he still would have been famous just for his books.

He has written many books and almost all of them were successful.

He has been writing from his early childhood to now. In fact, his last book the second installment of the Percy Jackson series was published a few months ago which also had a good sale.

This kind of out of fairy tail performance can only be said phenamenon.

After all, not everyone can bring one successful book after another. Many researched the reason behind this and brought a lot of theories.

Among the theories, one suggested he took ideas from others. Some even said he hired ghostwriters to write his stories. Few even went extreme and said he stole others' work and published them in his name.

There was some conspiracy theory like he traveled back in time, so he knows what things will be successful.

{A/N: OHHH... so close.... phew!!!!}

But they are mostly a few skeptics, haters, or some tabloids. After all, not everyone is perfect and well-liked. They are simply minorities. On the other hand, Everone accepted the explanation that Richard is simply gifted and lucky.

What's important is if the book is of good quality and people like it or not. And nobody can deny that Richard's book is of good quality and popular.

June 26, 1992, Beverly Hills, Ric's villa

Austin is sipping coffee while looking at the couple in front of him.

"So let me get this straight, you want me to do a signing event," stated Ric.

He nodded in the affirmative. Looking at him nodding, Ric continued,

"When will it happen?"

"Anytime would be alright, but it would be great within this month. And it would be even better if it can be finished in this week," answered Austin.

"And how will it be organized?" asked Ric again.

"Taking your fan base into account, we will organize the event in a large hall. And for announcing it, that's very simple, all we will do is tell the media about the event, they will do the rest," said Austin.

"What!!! Austin, are you out of your mind!!!!" exclaimed Drew while sitting up straight and continued,

"Do you know what are you talking about?"

"W...what... what did I say wrong?" asked a very disoriented Austin by the sudden outburst.

"What's wrong!!!! A public event that's wrong." Drew pointed out. But looking at the confused face, she explained,

"Listen, you have grossly underestimated Ric's popularity. It might sound like I am boasting, but Ric isn't just any ordinary famous author. He is also an actor and singer besides being an author and he is famous for all of it.

In fact, he is a celebrity, an idol. "

She paused for a moment and took a small breath, then continued,

"It is a book signing event, not a concert. Being able to meet and talk face to face, which fan doesn't want it.

Besides, Ric has been in the spotlight for a while now due to the game that was released recently, and here are you, trying to organize a public event with media coverage."

She paused again then said in a clear but forceful voice,

"You get the idea of what's going to happen, right."

Hearing her, both of them kept silent and thought about the implications.

"What she said is correct. It's not a good idea to organize a public event right now, let alone a media coverage one," said Ric after some time while using one arm to hug Drew.

She responded happily while leaning against his shoulder and saying like that.

Such public display of affection had not to effect on Austin what so ever.

In fact, he quickly found out a solution and announced,

"I have an idea!!!"

The couple looked at him curiously. Seeing their curious look, he smiled and said,

"As you have said, I have underestimated Ric's popularity. So, I thought of a solution.

Why don't we organize an invited only event where we people we invited will join and without letting any wind of it to be known by the media."

"And how are you gonna make the event possible?" asked Ric.

"Sending an invitation to your fans who have read all your books," replied Austin.

"And how are you gonna get the address of those fans who read all Ric's book?" asked Drew this time.

"Ummm... it's a bit complicated... This is what I planned..." explained Austin.

Basically, what Austin planned is that,

They will announce through all our retail stores that a book signing event of author R.R Jackson will be organized.

In that announcement, the conditions for attending the event is as followed,

Firstly, the place and time of the event will be known by the invitation cardholders.

Secondly, to get the invitation card, one needs to fill up a survey paper.

And finally, the invitation cards are limited. So, the selection will take place through a lottery from all the applicants.

The cards will be sent to the home of the lucky winners. But a thing need to be kept in mind, the cards will only be sent to the address mention in the survey.

"So, what do you think?" said Austin after explaining the plan.

Hearing him, Drew hit her temples while shaking her head. Meanwhile, Ric sighed and said,

"Austin, I think you need to hold on to that event, for now. Let some time pass, and the situation cool down. How about we talk about it in...hmmm... December."

Listening to Ric's proposal, Austin slouched and resignedly said, "Okay."

Then became cheerful again and said,

"Looks like I need to plan properly next time. Oh!!! Look at the time. I need to be somewhere. So, Boss, see you next time."

After saying that, he got up and left hurridly, leaving no chance for Ric to react. And seeing that Drew laughed,

"He is really hyperactive."

"That's why I kept him, although it can be annoying sometimes," said Ric with a smile.

"Taking about annoying, when will I start working, I am getting bore going to school," complained Drew.

"Patient babe, patient. Just wait another year," said Ric with a soothing voice.

"But I don't want to. I am afraid everyone forgot that I was even an actor," she pretending to be sad.

"Okay... Babe, don't be sad... how about this, we both make a comeback with the same film," Ric proposed while hugging her from the back.

"What kind of film?" asked Drew.

"A romantic kind," whispered Ric while bitting her ear, making her gasp.

"Really, then I can wait," she whispered back while breaking free from his grasp. She then kissed him and continued,

"I think it isn't appropriate to do anything else in here."

After saying that, she pushed him a bit and ran away while Ric followed in pursuit.

Filling the whole villa with their laughter.
