The burning sensation in Dismas' lungs nearly caused him to collapse on the spot he stood in the center of the room catching his breath while Audrey saw the knights ride past the broken window she was watching out of. When one of the knights stopped she immediately stepped away from the window reaching into her bag pulling out her last two vials tossing one to DIsmas. "We need to recover fast so we can catch up with the others, once we leave we need to be stealthy. You can still manage that can't you?" Dismas removed the cork from the vial and downed it without hesitation, feeling his cuts begin to close at an incredible rate. "Lets go."
Audrey checked the window one last time looking for any sign that the knights were still around but she found nothing left but a few horseshoe prints in the dirt. They quickly exited the house and began heading in the direction Audrey last saw their friends go. "So are you gonna tell me how you came across something so important that people are hunting you down for it? Is it connected to the disappearances that have been happening?" Ever since that night in the bar Audrey couldn't keep her eyes off the case currently tied to her friends side. The fact that it was related to the fabled estate already had her interest peaked but the fact that she had to get the man drunk for him to even consider talking about it made the feeling even worse.
"I promise to fill you in when we regroup but I don't really feel like disclosing such information out in the open." Audrey continued to stare at the case and the longer she did she noticed more and more about it. The case itself looked to be made from a heavily rusted iron but when she focused on it the rust began to shift and writhe until it formed a single black eye that stared back at her unfocused and unblinking. All of a sudden Audrey felt strangely uncomfortable like something or someone was staring at her, staring into her. She quickly averted gaze as her thoughts of curiosity were being overwhelmed by this feeling of discomfort. The two of them continue to walk through the empty street not saying anything to each other.
The crowd eventually dispersed, allowing Reynauld and I to make it a good distance away from the market. Some of the people around us still had their eyes glued to the knights that stayed behind making it easier to slip past them without drawing too much attention. I looked back towards Reynauld who by now put his helmet back on, "We need to find a good place to lay low for the rest of the day." He then reached into the pack on his back and pulled out a folded map, he then pointed out a marked area outside of town.
"This is an old ruin that Dismas and I use when we are outside of town for missions or when Dismas get caught cheating in one of the local gambling halls. It should be a good place to rest that's outside the churches reach as far as we know." There were a couple of more places marked on the map bet they were more of less places Dismas had got himself kicked out of. "The place sounds good but how do we know that Dismas and Audrey would we inform Audrey and Dismas about where we went?"
< I think I have a solution to that problem and before you get the chance to say it, I can already feel how drained of energy we are, but the idea I'm thinking of is very simple. All you have to do is leave a message with a tree, it's very easy and it doesn't require much so it should drain you that much. >
"What do you mean leave a message we're still in the city and I'm pretty sure most of the trees around us are as dry and brittle as the ones back in the garden."
< That is why we wait until we are outside of town there should be plenty of trees around that won't immediately crumble turn into soul dust when you touch them. >
"You still hadn't explained why the stuff got stuck to us."
< That information will come in due time >
