Without moving his head he put a hand on one of his daggers, "It depends who's asking." The girl in blue stopped forward and presented a piece of paper and shoved it in his face. It was similar to the one the friar gave him, except this one had a reward listed. "My name is Olivia and the one in green is Junia. We are fugitives currently on the run from a corrupt church and no offence but we would like to know how a person such as yourself has information on us." Junia noticed how Dismas was clutching something and stepped in between the two of them. "Please pardon my sister, she can be a bit blunt at times."
Dismas couldn't help but feel a bit insulted by the girls' words as true as they were. "Don't worry about it, I've definitely heard worse from more intimidating people." Dismas pulled out a paper of his own, "This was given to me by the friar of the local church; he told me that you were his apprentices who got separated from him when the fire started. He's also the one who gave me your names other than that and your general descriptions I know nothing about either of you." All of a sudden the crowd around them began parting as two of the knights approached them holding metal cuffs in one hand and a sharpened sword in the other.
"We have been informed that this man has a connection to the people who started the fire, we need to bring him in for questioning any attempts at fleeing or lying will be met with punishment via serious jail time. If you have any connection to this man you will also need to be brought in for questioning." Audrey's hand was fast forcing one of her daggers into the armor of the knight pushing it as far as she could into their neck. "Dismas I know you're hurt but we need to run now!" The other guard went to swing his sword but he was stopped when a ghostly hand appeared out of nowhere and latched onto his face and began sapping the life out of him. "Sister I think it's time we took our leave." Olivia grabbed her sister's hand and began calmly leading her away from the growing conflict.
Audrey then pulled something from her belt, throwing it to the ground causing a large plume of black smoke to form as she and Dismas began running. Captain Smith watched the commotion with a smile on her face as she signalled the for the rest of her squad. "To your horse soldiers we've found our targets. I want to subdue and capture them alive." The knights ran to the stables as Captain Smith thrust her hand forward causing a spectral horse to manifest from a brightly glowing portal. The creature bowed its ghostly head as she climbed atop it's back, "I hope they aren't too slow. It's been quite a long while since I've enjoyed a good chase." The townspeople present watched in amazement as the captain rode ahead. Soon the rest of the knights came rushing through as the pursuit began.
Both Dismas and Audrey ran as fast as they could hopping over barrels of muck and filth, pushing past random bystanders as the sounds of galloping horses filled the air. Dismas fired his pistol behind him clipping one of the horses in the leg causing it to barrel forward tossing the rider, "Where are Reynauld and Rose in all this madness?" Audrey kept her focus on the road ahead of her looking for any way to throw the knights off their scent. "They ran ahead but I don't know how far they made it yet." Captain Smith came in from the right bringing the blade of her halberd down, slicing Audreys leg causing her to stagger.
The attack was met with another smoke bomb followed by a volley of poison filled syringes. "We can't keep running like this forever, they're gonna catch up eventually. You got any ideas?" Dismas' eyes searched the area until they landed on the shell of a broken down building. He then grabbed Audrey by the arm and began speeding up bursting out of the cloud of black smoke. "We can lose them here!"
