Chapter 22: Fortunate to Have Escaped, Fleeing the Asylum (4)

Gong Siyu stayed silent. 

He would not tell Ji Younai that because of her overtly abnormal behavior during the day, he had mistakenly thought that she had been agitated and was going to take her own life. He dared not go to bed at night as he just wanted to stay by her side and see what she was going to do. 

Fortunately, he was careful. Otherwise, he probably still wouldn't know it after Ji Younai fled the asylum behind his back.

Gong Siyu felt extremely upset at the thought of how she had kept such a huge plan from him. 

Naturally, his tone was harsh, and his expression was gloomy. 

"You want to escape? Where do you want to escape to?" 

As the stench from the toilet bowl infiltrated his nostrils, Gong Siyu spoke in a cold and harsh tone, seemingly angry. 

"Uh… I haven't thought about it yet!" She had no money, no home, and no place to go at all.

"Do you have an escape plan?" 

He asked that question again with displeasure. 

"Yes! Look, this is the access card. Wu Defang tried to kill me by taking me to the crisis stabilization ward where she tried to electrocute me. After I was rescued, I stole this access card from a male doctor. I also got a lighter!"

She showed it to Gong Siyu like she was presenting a treasure.

"Hah!" Gong Siyu sneered. Looking at the access card and lighter in Ji Younai's hand, he said sarcastically, "You're thinking of relying on these two things to escape from the asylum overnight?" 

After a pause, he continued with sarcasm, "Well done, little one, you've got some nerve. Have you thought about it? There are surveillance cameras in the elevator as well. Once someone in the control room discovers that there are people in the elevator, do you think they will let you escape all the way out of the asylum unhindered?"

"…"

Ji Younai truly did not think about the issues that Gong Siyu had mentioned. 

'Right, there are surveillance cameras in the elevator too!'

"I can take the emergency exit route!"

He reminded out of goodwill and in a standoffish tone, "There were surveillance cameras at every stairway when I carried you through the emergency exit route today."

"What should I do then!?!" 

With a crestfallen look on her tiny face, Ji Younai's heart sank and she wondered, 'Is there no hope in escaping anymore?'

Carefully examining Ji Younai's access card, he thought about the dangers that she had encountered in the crisis stabilization ward, Gong Siyu felt that something was amiss. 

He asked, "Ji Younai, you refused to leave when I said I would take you out of the asylum. Yet, you suddenly want to leave now. Are you hiding anything from me?"

Leaning her head against the door, Ji Younai explained to him honestly. 

"Well… I was the one who caused the explosion in the crisis stabilization ward this afternoon. I also helped that dangerous patient escape. The police will soon find out what happened and arrest me. My aunt wants me dead too. If you're in my shoes, would you dare stay in this place?"

"…"

Definitely not. 

Gong Siyu carried Ji Younai back into the room and told her that they should consider everything from a long-term perspective. 

In the dimly lit ward, the lamp was emitting a warm, yellow light. Ji Younai and Gong Siyu were seated cross-legged on the bed while facing each other.

"I can't leave using the elevator or the emergency exit route, and there are surveillance cameras everywhere. There is barbed wire on the windows too. I don't know how to escape from the underground either. I don't have wings, so I can't fly..."

She fiddled with her hair that was long like a waterfall. 

Ji Younai sighed bittersweetly. 

Gong Siyu initially forced the old director to let him stay there because of Ji Younai. 

They could leave easily. 

"If you want to leave, I'll have Bai Feiran pick us up in the morning."

Gong Siyu said brazenly with a wave of his long arm. 

However… Ji Younai glanced at Gong Siyu with a look of amazement like she was looking at a baboon. She chuckled wryly twice and said, "Gong Siyu, you're out of your mind too, aren't you? Didn't you tell me that you were brought in for treatment because your family members think that you have bipolar disorder? Will they let you go home?" 

Actually, she didn't know what Gong Siyu and his family did for a living. 

She often felt that he did not come from an ordinary wealthy family. 

However, that did not seem to have anything to do with her either!

"…"

Gong Siyu was speechless. 

Only then did he remember that he had lied to Ji Younai about being mentally ill and that his family had forcefully admitted him to the asylum.

If he were to get Bai Feiran to escort them away smoothly and openly, his lie would be exposed!

He hated being lied to, and hence, he naturally thought that Ji Younai would be angry if she found out that he had lied to her.

He suddenly dared not answer her. 

For the sake of making his lie convincing, Gong Siyu made a smart decision.

"But if you leave, I'll be all alone here. That'd be really lonely, wouldn't it? No! We have to escape together!" 

He suddenly moved his face closer to Ji Younai's and squinted his charming eyes, pretending to be upset. "Or are you planning to leave me behind and escape on your own?"

Gazing at the magnified version of his handsome face, Ji Younai couldn't stop her heart from racing as she turned beet red.

'Gong Siyu is really prettier than a woman!'

'But… what does he mean by leaving him behind?'

'He's making it sound as if I'm about to abandon him!'

She retreated embarrassedly, and her tiny face was cupped with two thick hands. "Of course, we'll go through the good and bad times together! We're so close!" 

She reached her tiny hands out, which were as fair as porcelain. "The Asylum Escape Squad is officially established!"

Gong Siyu shook Ji Younai's tiny hand happily. For a while, he did not want to let go. 

"Yes, we'll cooperate sincerely and escape!" 

Gong Siyu felt that he would never experience escaping an asylum in the middle of the night, ever again in his life!

"Oh, by the way, didn't you ask me why I refused to leave with you?" 

Ji Younai suddenly asked when she was thinking about the plan to escape together with Gong Siyu. 

"Yeah, why?" Gong Siyu asked with a low grunt as he carefully studied the map of the emergency escape hallway.

Ji Younai did not make a single sound, and he simply got out of bed to walk towards the tightly shut window. 

Gong Siyu looked up to see that Ji Younai was tugging the curtain with her eyes closed. She bit her lip, looked down, took a deep breath, and forcefully pulled the curtains apart. She then jumped onto the bed fearfully and hid behind him. 

"Because ever since the first day I moved here, I found out that none of the ghosts that I could see could enter the interior of this hospital. The most they dare to do is to wander outside this building, which means they do not dare to come in!"

She stole a glance outside the window from behind Gong Siyu. Seeing that it was pitch dark outside with no ghosts in sight, she heaved a sigh of relief. 

"So, I treat the asylum as a refuge." 

Gong Siyu nodded like he had a moment of epiphany, after which he waved at Ji Younai. He already had an elaborate escape plan.

"It's not impossible to really escape, but we will need two sets of lab coats that are usually donned by doctors."

Ji Younai's eyes lit up and exclaimed, "Disguise!" 

"Yes." Gong Siyu stroked Ji Younai's head and praised her for being intelligent. He then continued, "The access card will come in handy. The map shows that there is a doctor's office at the end of the corridor towards the left of our ward door. There must be some doctors' coats in there."

Nodding profusely, Ji Younai pinched her fingers and calculated. "There is only one surveillance camera that switches directions every 10 seconds. There is no blind spot, so you have to run to that office within ten seconds!"

Gong Siyu explained the entire plan to Ji Younai.

Due to the fact that it was already three hours past midnight, they were running out of time. Without much hesitation, they immediately took action!

In front of the dark ward, Ji Younai stared at the surveillance camera, took off her shoes, and held it in her hand. Gong Siyu did the same. They then got into a stance, as if they were preparing to race. As soon as the surveillance camera oscillated, they dashed out happily.
