A kind young boy witness’s cruelty beyond his imagination and attempts to do what he believed the right thing. It pulls him down a path in life he never would have known existed and he is forced to survive in a world that hates him and all that he loves.  A world ruled by light is hard for someone who lives in the dark.

The New Moon

I pull the damn rope up and out of the sewer, it is so dark out I can barely see my hands. The moon is covered by clouds and leaves only faint bits of light, I pull and tug on a rope toward my goal.


I see it finally, the well she is in. I pull at one end of the rope and tie it around the stone wall of the well. I think it's secure, well whatever at this point.


I drop the other end into the well, and watch it disappear into the dark empty well, I grab onto the rope and begin climbing down. I can't see anymore, I am completely blind except when I look up. 


Reaching the bottom after spending thirty minutes climbing down, I step on something mushy. Reaching down, I feel skin, and bones sticking out on some spots.


However when I try lifting this flesh bone sack, I hear a pained grunt!


"You are alive, well that makes this trip worth it!"


I grab my rope end that continues on the bottom, I blindly tie the rope around the body and I think it is secure. Well now for the for painful part, climbing up and pulling her out.


I spent twenty minutes climbing up, and began pulling her up. She is surprising light, spending a good ten minutes I finally reach the end of the rope with her on it. I can soon finally see her.


The moon as if on cue cleared in the sky for a brief moment and gave me some light, her body or what used to be a body is gone, one eye and a jaw that is smashed apart, all her teeth are gone which is visible by the hole of a mouth she has. How is she alive? She has no limbs and has bones sticking out in her chest, and there are countless stabs, slashes, and bruises from being beaten on her body.


The rope is tied underneath where the legs should be, with it reaching above and tied around the neck. I grab her and put her down on the grass field, I am near the end and need to hurry before someone comes. I untie her, remove my tie around the well and quickly drop the rope in the well.


I grab her body and rush back into my sewer, I collapse after entering of sheer exhaustion. My body is aching everywhere, I am a complete idiot.
