Chapter 111

"Would you like to visit my estate? The others should be arriving within the hour." Mephisto offered.

"I need to visit the market for a few things first," Zack replied.

"We can handle that. I know you have a tendency to do things yourself, but I assure you it's no problem. My people would receive better discounts after all, and I'm sure you can see the benefit of that." Mephisto declared.

"I have another matter I need to look into before our meeting so that works perfectly. Could my companions gather a list while I get started? I'll leave the money with someone." Zack replied.

"We will cover everything just leave the list with one of the women here. I'm off to make the rest of the arrangements." Mephisto stated waving goodbye as he vanished.

Zack walked up to Ruby, and the others retrieving a significant sum of gold.

"I know your group will likely be charged with this task, and this is to compensate for your time," Zack told Ruby placing it on the table.

"You don't have to do this Mephisto already said he would pay, and it's our duty to serve." The demon declared.

"You're doing me a big favor it's the least I can do," Zack replied.

"Where are you off to?" Kaya investigated.

"Can I come?" Yu asked.

"I need to finish what I started earlier, and this is something that needs to be done solo," Zack replied with a serious look.

"Just be safe," Yu smiled.

"I will now come here," Zack said opening his arms.

Kaya and Yu fell into his embrace. Once they all had their turn telling him goodbye Zack left the auction house for the inner city. He took a note of Camila's aura earlier and needed to ensure she halted her attacks.

Zack trailed the aura to the noble estates. Camila's was the largest on the block, and after a brief reconnaissance of the neighboring residents, he was ready to make a move. Zack closed his eyes drifting into an immense focus. To wander discreetly he was attempting to use a trick Lauren taught him long ago.

Before the first dark age angels would visit man from time to time, but hid from humanity watching in plain sight. Demons could still sense an angel's grace, but Zack wouldn't have that issue making it ideal for infiltration. Zack had only managed to pull it off once during his training, but after his revelation in his fight with Uriel using his grace was much easier.

The light began to bend around Zack as his body faded away. He was unaware if it worked since his hand was still visible. Then he noticed a man sitting under a street lamp with a woman on his arm. The two were flirting, and he walked up waving his hand between their faces.

"Can we go to your place?" The woman asked.

"No, she didn't visit her family this year, but the streets empty we could always just do it here." The man smirked leaning in narrowly missing Zack's hand.

'Guess it works. Should get moving before the show starts.'

Zack turned away as the woman began giggling behind him. He flew up into the air as he drifted into their house undetected. Looking around the house it was empty, and not even a servant was in sight. Zack could feel her aura gathered below him, and began searching for a staircase.

After finding nothing Zack conjured winds into the room quickly filling it up searching for any crevices, and promptly found one. There was a large painting depicting the first dark age. The land was being split apart as flashes of light were cleansing the land. At the center of the chaos stood six angels on opposing sides.

'One side must be Lucifer, but whos that standing beside him. Samuel could be one, but what about the other?'

Zack placed his hand on the frame of the painting trailing his hand around it as a snap was heard. He backed up as the bricks on the walls began to shuffle revealing a hidden passage. It was completely void of light, but he wandered down the spiraling steps carefully.

After descending them for ten minutes Zack could hear Camila talking with a handful of other voices. Once they came into view he noticed by the insignia on their weapons that they were all demons enlisted in Ozen's army. In the back was a large demon radiating a familiar aura.

'He has to be the one who laid the curse.'

Walking around the room Zack looked for anything useful, and he noticed a few models sitting at the side. One of them displayed the current city with buildings marked throughout the model, and he realized they were the places she was buying.

The model next to it seem like a remodel town except with strange markers placed throughout the city's vantage points, and exits. Then Zack noticed a tunnel being started from inside the hidden room. He was preparing to investigate till he overheard their conversation.

"Making a move is difficult with the extra eyes right now, and we can't afford to draw suspicion before Ozen's arrival. Because of this, there's an additional fee." The demon stated with a smirk.

"I don't care what the price is so long as that spider bitch never returns." Camila declared retrieving a chest of gold.

"Always nice to do business with you. This is the schedule you requested, and it wasn't easy to get. Luckily we have an ally in the court." The demon said retrieving a scroll.

With the scroll in hand, Camila retrieved more reward money. The demons had wicked smirks on their faces while examining the fortune in the chest. These soldiers belonged to a special faction under Ozen's rule that despises the idea of coexisting with humans.

Each of them had a sadistic nature and wished to return to the days when they ruled with force. They believed the other species to be beneath them, and they should merely be slaves. Seeing the amount of gold it would be easy to bribe more officials, and soldiers for their cause. The demons' celebration was short-lived as the basement lit up with gold light.

The leader saw Zack wasting no time to hurl a spear straight for his chest that was crackling with lightning. Zack caught the tip of the spear before it struck him. It sliced up his hand but he didn't care in the slightest.

The spear shattered in his hands as Zack continued forward. The demons shot in attempting to surround him but as they closed in the orbs behind Zack formed launched into their chest. The second it made contact their bodies erupted with light instantly robbing them of their lives.

Zack called his spear walking forward. The leader saw the overwhelming power dropping to his knees. He began pleading for his life as Camila sat in fear. Zack could tell they had no intentions of changing their ways. He could only imagine the countless others they have forced from the city, and those were likely the lucky ones.

"I was j-ju-just kidding about th-that," Camila stuttered backing up slowly.

"I didn't do anything bad so how about you let me go? I can pin what happens next on those here, and you won't have to worry about retaliation." The demon suggested.

Zack said nothing as he raised his hand flooding the basement in a divine light. When it subsided there was no trace of demons. He recovered the scroll, and anything else important before discreetly leaving the house. It was as if Zack never arrived, and the city would go on to believe that she fled the city.
