Just because I haven't entered this world's lackluster gaming industry doesn't mean I haven't developed some games for myself. I recreated Call of Duty, the GTA series, and more—but in much more advanced versions.
These games offer a fully immersive experience, making you feel like you're actually inside the game, with every action replicated by the characters.
Knock knock.
"Coming!" I shouted, running downstairs to open the door.
Today was one of those rare days when almost everyone was free. Mom was out with her friends—aka her sisters—and Matthew's mother, so Matthew was allowed to visit.
We planned to make the most of the day, and what better way to do that than by playing some exciting games? Matthew, in simpler terms, was a nerd, so gaming was definitely something he'd love.
"Oh crap," I muttered, remembering the gauntlet. I quickly turned it invisible before opening the door.
"Hey!!!" Matthew shouted, announcing his arrival.
"Hola!!" I replied, just as excited.
"So, what are we doing today?" Matthew asked.
"Bro, this is the first time we've got the whole house to ourselves. Trust me, you won't want to leave," I said, and I meant it. I had plans for the day—some personal, some for both of us.
I dragged him inside and took him straight to one of the many rooms I'd converted into an entertainment center.
One wall was entirely a TV screen, while another section housed an advanced gaming setup. The gear included a suit and helmet reminiscent of the ones in Ready Player One.
There was popcorn for movie nights and snacks in case we got hungry. Today was my day to relax—and maybe power up—but I was determined to enjoy it.
"So, what do you want to do first?" I asked.
"Okay, you're way too excited. Let's take it slow—maybe start with a movie or something," Matthew suggested.
"Oh, I've got that covered. Paris!" I called out.
[Yes?] Paris answered, appearing in the room.
Paris's existence wasn't a secret, even to company employees. For her to assist them effectively, they needed to know about her.
Because of this, everyone at Smith Industries knew we had a fully functional A.I., though no one understood her true capabilities except me.
At most, they guessed she was a Strong A.I., not realizing she had long surpassed that level. Paris could generate ideas independently, making her almost a living being.
Add her cosmic body to the mix, and you've got a digital god.
"Hello, Paris," Matthew said, waving.
[Hello, Master Malloy,] Paris replied, nodding in acknowledgment.
"Paris, can you help us with the movies?" I asked.
Paris nodded and disappeared as the lights dimmed, and the massive wall-screen lit up.
"Woah!!" Matthew exclaimed.
"I know, right? Mom doesn't even know this exists yet. Anyway, pick any movie you want. I'll grab the snacks," I said, leaving Matthew to choose while I headed to the kitchen.
Hours flew by as we sat in front of the giant screen, wearing 3D glasses, with popcorn scattered across the floor.
We laughed, screamed, and reacted to every twist and turn of the movie. The night passed quickly as we enjoyed ourselves, switching from open-world games like GTA to fully immersive first-person shooters like Call of Duty.
Of course, I didn't forget my mission. Collecting Matthew's powers and transferring them into my utility belt was easy, especially since he was distracted the entire time.
Unlike James Jaspers's powers, Matthew's abilities weren't tied to his mental stability but were influenced by his emotions—at least, that's what was shown.
It's easy to assume this was only because Matthew had no control over his powers. It's incredible when you think about it.
Matthew could resurrect the dead, teleport himself and others across vast distances, and overpower and kill one of the world's most powerful telepaths—all without any control.
His powers made him an absolute menace. If Marvel had let him loose, he'd undoubtedly have earned a seat at the table of cosmic-level threats. My guy radiated pure chaos energy.
